If I could give a –1, I would!!! I contacted this place on May 6th requesting their catering services for June 25th& spoke to Stella, who was very nice & helpful. I was looking to use them for my retirement ceremony/reception that’s going onboard Camp Pendleton. She quoted prices & spelled out everything their catering service would entail, stated that full payment was to be made on the day of services rendered & I accepted her quote for 80 people/$ 400. She then gave me her cell # & asked that I text her with the venue address & my contact info, to which I did. I even texted her the next day, May 7th, for confirmation that she received my text, to which she replied«yeah.» Fast forward to June 18th. I called again to confirm all the details. Stella wasn’t there. The lady who I spoke to said she couldn’t find my paperwork & stated that they were really busy at the moment & asked if she could call me back later, but not later than 8 p. m 8 p.m. came and went with no call from the restaurant. So I called again yesterday morning & spoke with a gentleman who had my info but said that Stella would be in within the hour & would call me. I ended up calling after I saw I had missed a call from the restaurant(by 18 minutes) & spoke with a lady(not Stella). I advised her that I no longer needed service for 80 people but now only needed it for 50 people. She then asked me what price had Stella quoted for me to which I replied«80 people/$ 400.» She put me on hold, came back only to tell me that the manager, who is Stella’s father said that he charges $ 450 for 50 people & that Stella should have never given me that quote. I tried explaining to her that this restaurant came highly recommended to me by 2 other Marines who had used their services & that this was the price THEY too had paid for 80 people AND that this was what Stella had quoted for me on May 6th. The lady became very irritated with me after I requested to speak with the manager/father and Stella. I was told that Stella wasn’t there & that the manager/father doesn’t speak English. After I asked her to have Stella call me when she got in & asked if it would be better if I came down so we could all talk in person, she proceeded to hang up the phone on me. I immediately called Stella’s cell phone. She didn’t answer so I left a voicemail & that was at 11:15 a.m. By 8:25 p.m. last night she still had not called me back. It is 6 days before my scheduled ceremony/reception & after already locking on this venue, they decided to change the previously agreed upon price! As your services came recommended to me by Marines who have used you in the past, you can best believe that I will be passing this experience along to all of Camp Pendleton Marines, Sailors & their families informing them of your lack of professionalism & just overall, horrible customer service & advising them against using your services in the future. Thank you for causing me unneeded frustration & chaos in the final planning stages for my retirement.

I asked the waitress if I could have a bean, rice and cheese burrito, with pastor, and she said yes, which I thought was nice. We got our food to go, and we were like the only people there, but I ended up eating a completely different burrito. They gave me a carne asada and guac burrito. It was pretty weird but good, but not what I wanted. Someone else got a California burrito, and he said it was better than he expected. We also got tacos, and they seemed authentic. The salsa was all good too.

Stopped by today on a whim. I was craving tacos and had seen this place off of W. Valley. It was empty, but I told the lady at the counter that I’d like some tacos. She handed me a menu and said that tacos were their specialty. I ordered 3 tacos de carne asada to go. She rang me up… only $ 3 for three tacos. Tuesdays are 99 cent taco day. Woohoo! What a bargain. I also asked her to throw in a jalapeño as well. Then she showed be to the salsa bar and I filled up 2 cups of diced onions, cilantro, and salsa. As I waited for the tacos, I noticed that the restaurant was quite cute and very clean appearing. By the time I got home with my tacos, they were still nicely warm… ANDEXCELLENT. Plenty of good carne asada in each taco. They were perfect when I added the extras I took. She had also grilled two jalapeños for me which were excellent(and HOT)! The carne asada was really good meat, too. It wasn’t greasy like you often get. It’s was excellent. I’ll be back to eat in the restaurant. I was really pleased with my experience and the lady at the counter was very friendly and nice. Great new find for me! :)

I was on a search for finding a place that makes good tamales and came across a facebook posting on Escondido friends. Oscar was super nice and made a customized order of a spicy cheese tamale and they were great. Moist and flavorful. We tried the strawberry tamales and they were amazing.

I tried this place a few months back, and the tacos were great, but the place did not look too clean. They recently went through renovations, so I thought I would check it out. The place looks great and clean. The tacos were delicious. And the service was great. They had Spanish music playing, and TVs that tuned into the soccer game for a part of the time I was there, then changed to novelas once the game was done. The place is small and cute, and has great authentic Mexican tacos. Definitely will return again!

Came here on the recommendation of the dudes at the phone repair place. Experience started out that woman behind the counter didn’t even speak broken English. When I addressed her in my limited Spanish, she seemed not to understand that either, so I think she just didn’t know how to take an order. I ordered a california burrito and a bottle of beer. After about 15 minutes the owner came out and asked if I had ordered food, believing that I probably had. I said yes, but apparently no order for food had been given to the kitchen. I ordered the burrito again, but when it came out, it was carne asada, not california. I ate it anyway because they’re basically the same thing without the potatoes. It was the worst burrito of any kind that I’ve ever had, including the garbage you get at American taco places. I’ve been to a lot of authentic Mexican taco shops around San Diego county, my favorites being California Burritos in Bird Land and Caliente in Sorrento Valley, so I know what it’s supposed to taste like. The burrito here was so bad I couldn’t stomach the rest after about half of it, and I was hungry enough to eat two that day. I honestly feel like they had to try to make it taste as bad as it was, because seriously, how do you screw up carne asada? This was several weeks ago that I went, but the experience has been haunting me, and I felt the need to save others from the same fate. Stay far, far away from this taco shop. It was dirty and I literally got sick to my stomach after I left.

I ordered menudo and they did not have any. Strike 1. My wife ordered a taco de marlin, the owner went to the kitchen, came back and said it was frozen so we had to order something else. Strike 2. So, we settled for some chilaquiles which were not good at all as they used tostada chips instead of frying the tortilla which is the right way to do it… needless to say that the salsa tasted bad. That was strike 3. Oh, and the owner came by to check on us and my wife’s water cup was empty and this guy had the decency to ask my wife if she wanted more water, wife said yes, and then he said full cup or or just ¾…really, you have to be kidding me. I’m from Jalisco and the name of this business doesn’t do any justice to the Mexican food from Jalisco. Would not recommend this place to anyone craving Mexican food.

So I got a coupon in the mail from this place«taco Tuesday» .99 cents tacos so I go and apparently it only applies to certain tacos, not carne Asada… The coupon does not show any restrictions, needless to say I’m going somewhere else! Terrible service when I told the cashier she said oh I don’t know why it says that. And didn’t offer to accept the coupon!

very sad place. Looks dirty and uninviting. Waitress can’t remember what was going on 1 min ago. We were only customers there she took orders for the drinks and came back min. later absolutely clueless who ordered what… it’s just weird. few min after my son realized that she brought him diet root beer, instead of regular(come on. he is a kid! diet drink?) We ordered 4 different dishes, each came 15 min after another(still waitress had no clue who any of the dishes goes to))) My husband loved his enchillada, my burrito was inedible salty(and I can take salty food, but this one was really bad), but the french fries in Cal. burrito were very crispy and yummy, if not too salty Boys got tacos, beef were very salty and tasted odd and chicken was good. The quesadilla we ordered for appetizer was very good, but VERY salty as well :( We are family, so I had to eat my burrito 30 min after they brought it out(it came first, then 15 later my husband’s dish and 15 min later boy’s tacos) Boys ordered two tacos each. Waitress brought out the plates(still has no clue which boy which plate should go to) Each plate had 4 tacos on it. Well. boys asked us. and we(naïve) decided that they come in pairs, because they are so teeny. Well we paid for 8 tacos on the end instead of 4LOL We ask why would they bring 8… she said :“We don’t know, but you have to pay for them” LOL… Ok then))) We didn’t complain about diet soda or fight for the tacos, just said that the food too salty. She didn’t really react to it)) We all got stomach aches, husband and youngest had to sit on the toilet for the evening. lol If you think of checking the place out… Please! Save your time! Any! Seriously! Any other place would be better!

I’m torn. I don’t know if I should give me this place 2 or 3 stars. Let’s do a 3… I decided to try this place on a Tuesday. I saw a guy waving a big sign that reads«99c taco Tuesday» I have two hungry men at home. A teenager and a husband. Thought It’d be perfect for dinner. The store was basically empty. There was only a group of men talking«business» in Spanish. Maybe the owners? A lady came to take my order. I ordered 4 chicken, 4 chorizo &4 carnitas. What I thought was weird is that she rung up each separately and charged tax for each order rather than all together. I didn’t really care. After paying, she offered me baggies for salsa. I look to my right and see the salsa bar. It had tons of little fruit flies in there. Ew! So not fresh! I skipped the salsa bar, I have salsa at home. The chicken tacos were okay. Not«bomb» but okay. The guys are the others(I don’t eat pork or beef) and they seemed to have enjoyed them. The service was fast and friendly, hence the 3 stars. The food was okay, the salsa bar was a turn off. Maybe I’ll try this place one more time. I’ll update my review if so.

Nice, authentic ‘slice of Mexico’ vibe here. Which means relax, it’s a slower pace and time to talk. The pollo asada tacos are amazingly good along with the carnie asada tacos. Beans a tad bland but chips and salsa is fresh and tasty! Taco Tuesday’s a must for the buck.

Just simply– no bueno. Service is slow. Food is bland. I love mexican food and this place is the second worst I had.

Mui Athentico. The folks who wrote negative reviews commented on aspects that are common in any taco shop in Mexico. If you want Chipotle, go to Chipotle. If you want to transport yourself to baja for a 30 minute lunch, this is the place. Sit on the front porch.
