I’ve been using Paul as my FFL for years to make several purchases. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Paul and his service in such a small space but I’ll try. First, Paul is all about safety and education when it comes to firearms. As any good business should, he wants to make sure his customers are confident and comfortable with their purchases. Second, he’s willing to go the extra mile for his customers. I’ve had to meet him at ‘off’ hours from his typical schedule and he was always gracious about it. Third, he genuinely knows A LOT about guns and the history, the laws… he’s interesting to talk to! I’ve stopped by to pick up or pay for items and we’lol easily talk for an hour. All around, great guy, great business… I’m a customer for life.

Paul Johnson is primarily a transfer FFL and not so much a retail shop type FFL. He works out of an office by appointment. However, this has never been a problem for me. I find his communication extremely good. You can contact him by either email or phone and he is extremely responsive to both. Paul seems very knowledgeable of CA laws and restrictions so you don’t have to waste time explaining things like some other FFLs. Here are some things to note: — $ 40 transfer fee + DROS — Mandatory safety briefing for first time buyers. Takes about 15 minutes. — 3% credit card fee

I do not write many reviews, mainly because I do not have a strong enough opinion about very many places, Paul Johnson is the exception. I could probably write a small article about him but I will keep this fairly short. I want to just hit 3 key points that made this business so great to me. 1. The customer service, 2. The business hours and lastly 3. The knowledge. Like I said I will keep this short so here we go. 1. The customer service is amazing, whether I am calling or emailing Paul he always answers my questions with enthusiasm and never talks down to me even though I know I am most likely asking pretty basic questions. He also goes out of his way to help you, he asked if I was military(which I am) just to inform me that he would be giving me a discount for it. Thumbs up for that. 2. His business hours are basic business hours, like 9 – 5 but when I told him that I was traveling out of town and could only pick up my shotgun before 9 he told me he would be there at 8 so that I could pick up my shotgun. What big business would ever even think about doing that? Not one… also, he already got paid so he is under no obligation to bend over backwards to help me. I love that about Paul, he does it because he is a nice guy. 3. He knows the laws and informs you of the laws so that you dont buy a gun that you cant own in california, furthermore just so you have the knowledge. he doesnt tell you this stuff to sound smart or to put you down for not knowing, he does it because he loves educating people to save them time and money. Again, great guy. To conclude, Paul Johnson doesnt have the amount of guns as the bigger shops(he only has about 30 plus lowers and accessories), but he can point you in the right direction to get the gun you want at the right price and if you use him as an FFL then I assure you that you will not be dissapointed. I will not use another FFL unless Paul closes shop and retires. Great guy and very rare that you find someone like him. Wow, I didnt keep that short at all… Sorry

I am usually smart about the things I buy. I could not have picked a worse time to buy a handgun. I do not want to stand in line in a gunshop, for slim pickings. Plus, the State of California has made it so any criminal, can have a better gun. I found a revolver on . It went to Paul Johnson Co. Paul set me up with the background check and HSC. Got the gun 10 days later. Bought another revolver from a FFL in Florida through GunsAmerica. I will see Paul this week. It is an office setting where you can sit down and do business. I am pleased. I was not smart about the time, but I was smart about the place.

Handled a private transfer very well at a VERY good price to the buyer. He’s a little long winded but has great intentions with his words. Paul Johnson Co. Police Supply has my recommendation and will receive my business many times to come.

Paul = Awesome. I used him as my FFL for my online ordered firearm transfer. I contacted him ahead of time and he quickly reminded/informed me of the DOJ’s list of approved firearms(yay California…). This simple reminder probably saved me a whole lot of time and trouble as the one I had my eyes on wasn’t on that list. So I probably could have bought it and paid for it. I just couldn’t take possession of it until I moved out of the state. Anyone out there an AZ resident? He was having a special for his transfer fees in April($ 10, normally $ 30) which is ATLEAST $ 25 cheaper than anywhere else in SD county that I’ve seen(up to $ 75 cheaper than the priciest place I’ve seen). I ordered my gun right around the end of April and it didn’t get there until May. He said he’d let me take advantage of the special anyways since I let him know early enough. Awesome. In addition to saving me some $, he also answered every question I had thoroughly, clearly, and with a smile. I’d definitely go through him again if I need the services of an FFL despite the fact that he’s further from me than many other FFLs and the normal $ 30 fee applied.
