I had just driven to two CVS pharmacies, one who didn’t have the shingles vaccine, and the other, after having me wait a bit and getting me halfway through the check-in process, told me to come back later because the pharmacist just announced she was leaving for lunch(I wrote a separate review on that). So I checked my iPhone for any other location close by where I could get the vaccine and Von’s Pharmacy on East Valley Parkway came up. At first I had some reservations… getting vaccinated at a grocery store? Well, since it was listed on the Sharp Community Medical Group website and it was just one block away it was worth a try. I called first and was told they were able to do it immediately. The pharmacy tech there was on the phone, but acknowledged my presence, having me fill out forms while I waited. She was friendly and efficient and I could see, a master of multi-tasking. Then she had me go into a – surprise, surprise – very clean, quiet, comfortable waiting area that I didn’t know even existed at the back of the store. She dutifully recommended the influenza vaccine, which I agreed to get as well. The pharmacist and manager, Huy Trinh came out right away with the completed paperwork and knowledgeably answered all of my questions. He had the gentle touch in administering the vaccinations and it was practically painless. He was thorough, extremely professional yet personable, and thanked me for coming in. There was no wait, no insurance issues, everyone was welcoming and thorough. They really seemed to have it all together, which is comforting to know since they are in charge of probably hundreds of different medications and injections every week.
