Just left the Hillview. Have been there many times, don’t usually eat. This time I ordered a Caesar salad — 5 bucks. Ok not a bad price. It came out and it was iceberg lettuce! Really? Who ever heard of a Caesar salad with iceberg lettuce. What a rip off!

Tough call rating the Hillview. The food is nothing extraordinary(well, except the wings) — it’s simple, decent bar food — probably 3 stars. The service I receive whenever I go is 5 stars(thanks to Sean!!). So it averages out to 4 stars. I’m a fan. The menu has lots of sandwiches that average $ 6-$ 9 and bigger meals for a bit more. I think the wings are pretty darn tasty when you ask them with hot sauce and cooked crisp. The pizza can be hit or miss — it’s tasty but a bit sloppy. Maybe it could be cooked a bit longer or maybe use a little less sauce in the middle. The burgers are good, as are the fresh cut fries. I’ve never ordered any of the bigger meals. The horseshoe shaped bar can seat about 20. They have a full bar, plenty of bottles and 2 – 3 drafts. The bar area has about 8 – 10 tables. The back room has the same number and it a little quieter as the jukebox and pool table are closer to the bar. They have weekly specials advertised in the local newspaper(the My Shopper comes out Saturday nights). BOGO meals on Wed. Pizza/Wings on Thurs. Occasional Sunday brunch. Occasional band/entertainment. Friday nights in the summer they have lawn mower races. Long story short, it’s definitely a place worth stopping at if you are in the area. Kids are welcome. And if you’ve never seen a lawn mower race, they are really run.
