Had dinner here tonight and had terrible service waited over an hour for our food and finally when it came the child’s food was never brought out it was never put into the computer. We were missing drinks and had to get up and ask twice for items out waitress never brought. When almost finished with our meal I orders buffalo fingers to go and it took 40 more minutes for them to come out. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

Walked right in and got a table on the bar side on a Saturday night which ended up being the only positive to the night. After sitting for about 10 minutes the hostess had noticed that no one had come over to us and said she would get someone. Multiple other servers walked by and stared at us without saying anything. Our waitress finally came over after we had been seated for almost 20 minutes!!! Took our drink and app order. Appetizer of the jalapeño poppers were alright. Nothing to rave about. Got our dinner. Steak tips were very chewy and tasted like beef jerky. Waitress NEVER came to ask us how the food was, if she had we would have asked for another meal. Fries were cold. Overall not a great experience. Def not worth the drive out there. If someone wants a blah experience then I would recommend this place.

From the area and was really excited to try this place out with my husband! Both of our entrees were super bland. Service was extremely slow and honestly really awful. It felt like she was ignoring us. We could hear the tables around us complaining about the food also. We used a Groupon and it was made into a really confusing situation for no reason. The waitress took my phone to enter the Groupon voucher without asking. Don’t plan on coming back.

I’ve been here tons of times but it’s been at least a year since my last visit. One of the things I loved most was the atmosphere of the dining room. It was always open, friendly and welcoming. There is now a ¾ wall in the middle of the room that separates the whole room!!! What a horrible idea! One of the best parts of going here was being able to sit at a table & watch my kids in the back yard while sipping a cocktail in peace & quiet! Very very bad idea. It makes the whole room feel small and cramped. The service here has ALWAYS been top notch and the waitresses amazing but when we went tonight, it was very clear that they were stretched way beyond capacity. The poor wait staff was hustling as best they could and the service paid a sad price. For the new menu? Horrible. The food was terrible. My kids & I have been eating here for years and I told them that we will not be returning. We got 2 burgers. Cold hockey pucks of meat, overshadowed by a dry giant bun. Neither my daughter or I finished it. My vegetarian daughter ordered the Mac N cheese and said that it was tasteless and soggy AFTER adding salt & pepper. We brought home a Beef Stew in a bread bowl for my other daughter which she promptly threw in the trash & stated was so gross she«wouldn’t even give it to the dog». So needless to say, our favorite go to place has lost our business. So so sad for our family.

I have no idea why they decided to build a long, ¾ high wall right down the middle of the dining room, but it was a really, really bad idea. Now, only one side of the room can even see, let alone enjoy the fireplace now. They took what was a warm and friendly dining room and made it really crowded and extremely noisy(partly due to the hard surface of the high wall, but also partly due to the overly permissive pair of modern Mom’s who let their little ones scream at each other during their whole meal. Here’s a hint ladies… your kids aren’t nearly as cute to your fellow diners as they are to you… try teaching them some manners instead of giving us dirty looks when we relocated just so we could hear ourselves think). I was told that they are putting high top bar seats on both sides, so I guess the thought is to make the whole thing into a bar, instead of a restaurant. Definitely not making it attractive for my demographic, but that’s probably by design. Mr Gorbachev, tear down that wall! The food was ok, as usual, and our waitress was top-notch, but I don’t think we’re going back soon…

I have been in twice. Once I sat at a table with a friend on the wing night, it was decent experience. We ordered wings they were good, I also ordered pull pork burrito it was good. My waitress was above average and sociable. Based on that visit easy 4 – 5 stars. Few days later I went in with another buddy after hunting near-by(which I do very often and would more then likely made many more stops in) on a Sunday night, I sat at the bar. By far the absolute worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Horrible just just does not do justice for that bartender. First I walk in not to words after she had noticed us, waited a minute or two to approach us(as she stood close by just leaned against the bar talking with what appears to be a regular. Then brings to menus stacked on top of each other just puts them between us, said absolutely nothing, not a single damn word. I was confused as she then walked back to her leaning spot not asking us if we like a drink or if their may have been special just dropped and walked. Without even opening the menu I just sat there staring at her dumbfounded by this service. Two minutes pass she looks my way. I say could I get two buds and two pulled pork burritos, first words I hear outta her mouth«fries»… Yup that how my ordering experience went. On to the delivery of said food, twenty minutes pass I have not been asked if I like another beer as it sat empty in front of me. As I notice the menu that she took from in front of me and placed in front of another guy at the bar, had now received his order I’m again shocked at how horrible this is like I must be on what would you do(shitty bartender episode) I’m about ready just walk out, tell my buddy screw this lets go. He instead shout across the bar to the bartender of hey any idea how long food will take? 2 minutes she comes out the kitchen with my now cold burrito and soggy fries… I have never tipped under 20% at a restaurant, I gave her ten and still wish I gave her nothing, but I’m just not that type person. Would I ever return, possibly, would I ever sit at the bar– not a chance in hell. I wish I had remembered the waitress working the night of this pass wing night because he service was great and only thing that would make me think of going again.

We use to travel 20 miles to come here. The nachos were great. The last three times we came everything seems to have gone down hill. We ordered the nachos again(for the pulled pork that is on them) there was a few small pieces of pulled pork and no sauce on it. I ordered the surf and turf(haddock and steak tips). The haddock was bland and the steak tips were just ok. We will not be making the 20 mile drive again.

Everything about the décor preps you to expect great things, but the food and service do not deliver. The pulled pork was dry, the wings were badly seasoned, the crabby patty was flavorless and the clam chowder was watery. Our server was inattentive and unenthused about the food… not terribly surprising.

I have been to the farm a half dozen times or so. Each time, the food is great but the service is horrendous. This past Sunday is probably the last time we will go. We stopped in for lunch. We waited about 20 minutes to be greeted even though we were 1 of maybe 6 groups in there. The rude waitress finally seats us right next to the door and proceeds to walk off. She comes back about 10 minutes later to get our drink order, a Bloody Mary and a root beer. We wait another ten minutes until she comes back again to ask what we ordered to drink. Finally we get our drinks and place our food order. The food came out pretty quickly so that was good. I was a little ticked that another server had to bring our food out even though we could clearly see our waitress chit chatting. She then proceeded to ignore us until it was time to pay the bill. I am usually forgiving when it comes to bad service but this was just awful! If we go back, it will be for take out only.

I feel compelled to write this review because the owners of the Farm Bar and Grille also own Ice Cream at The FARM next door. What a complete DUMP. Seriously — these owners should be ashamed of themselves. I am posting three pictures for you to look at before you eat at this place. Imagine what the KITCHEN looks like. Our table was not only falling apart — but it was so disgusting that I got up and left. It was also surrounded by trash. The table next to ours had a pile of rusty nails on it — you know — for the kids to play with while having an ice cream. I loved the empty chewing tobacco container under our table complemented by some wrapping papers. All we needed was a used condom to wrapper to make it complete. This place is a farm. I will never go back.

Discovered this place on Groupon. Thought it looked good so I bought the Groupon and drove an hour out to Essex to check it out. Lot was very full on a Saturday night at 7pm but we lucked out and got the last empty spot. We were seated in a booth which I always enjoy. Service was friendly! Ambiance was nice and rustic, homely. Drink menu was plentiful. I ordered a cocktail and my boyfriend got a beer. Plenty of local craft brew options on hand which was great. Drinks came out relatively quickly. Food was delicious. Boyfriend and I both ordered the Crabby Patty BLT for an entrée, and an order of the personal size BBQ Nachos for an app. The only unfortunate thing was the fact that the nacho appetizer came out less than a minute before our entrees, so we were a bit overwhelmed! They did apologize for that. But, we actually lucked out because although they took our order as being the personal size of BBQ Nachos, the kitchen accidentally made us the full sized order. The manager kindly told us we would still only be charged for the smaller size, which I confirmed on the bill that we were. The BBQ Nachos were delicious though. Chips were great and appeared to be homemade. We added guacamole for an extra $ 2.00 and sour cream for an extra .50 cents, totally worth it. The only one minor glitch was the fact that the waitress never offered to get me a box for the remainder of my plate(which was the entire serving of french fries, since I was eating the nachos instead!) We ended up asking the manager for one after we had already paid and were ready to go — he stopped by and was amazed that we managed to eat *almost* the entire plate of nachos.(haha) Anyway, this minor snafu wasn’t enough for me to take off a star. I was still excited about the free nacho upgrade. They just opened a new location in Kittery ME, pics I have seen look quite nice. I would like to check that out someday.

I heard great things about the Farm but always kept driving by it because of all the cars in the parking lot. I finally went on a Wednesday around 5:30, It was not to busy. I can only say this the food was blah, Steak tips were chewy and tough, the Fish and Chips were like fish sticks thin and dry. They boast more than ½ pound of Fresh Haddock which it should be, it’s Cape Ann. The noise level made you feel like you were at a 7 y/o’s Birthday party. Kids running a muck, baby’s screaming… Not pleasurable even if they made the food good. I could never imagine the place had it been packed as it usually is. I think you should take a pass on the Farm, I am not a hard person to please, but I would not return, even if it was free. TT

This is a tricky review for me. The food was amazing. The BBQ Nachos and tips were perfect. The waitress was very nice, and the food came in very reasonable time. The reason this review is tricky is that we wanted a seat in the restaurant, there were plenty of open seats but they shunned us to the bar, which I reluctantly and regretfully accepted. A few bar patrons were so loud and obnoxious that they reminded of cartoons of drunk slobs, and they kept getting served. Also, like I said above, the waitress was very nice, and the food came out quick, but it took about 20 minutes for them to realize we were there waiting before we were served. I would go back because the food was so good, and am just hoping that the service will be a little better next time.

You can tell how much we love The Farm but our experience on this last visit needs some improvement. It was more of the kitchen vs. the service. My hubby ordered the steak with chimichurri, salad and butternut squash, me, the BBQ plate, salad and sweet potato fries, our friend, the surf(baked cod) and turf(steak tips). Side salads were great — generous mixed greens, bell pepper, tomato, cucumber; however, our entrees definitely need some attention. Complimentary corn bread was good! The chimichurri came pureed and poured over the steak… we’ve never seen pureed chimichurri and it looked like green pea baby food drizzled over the steak. Hubby said it tasted OK but the plating/presentation looked awful and he didn’t care much for the butternut squash. On my BBQ plate, the steak tips were a bit more cooked than«medium» which is the way I requested them, the chicken breast was very thin and overcooked, the pulled pork was fairly tender but a little dry and the ribs were surprisingly good this time(they weren’t the last time we came). The sweet potato fries were cold. :-( Our friend’s cod was overcooked so it was tough and she ordered her steak tips medium rare and they were medium well. It was a bit before 5 pm on a Sunday and the dining room was very busy. Not sure if that contributed to the kitchen being a bit off but get it together guys, we’ve raved about you to friends and if this were our first experience, we would have ranted instead.

Here’s the deal: I LOVED the food, and the general atmosphere. I have a BIG issue with our waitress. I’m a sophomore at the local high school, and I also run a small business. After a successful month, I took my 5 employees(also buddies from high school) for wing night to celebrate. The second we arrived, the waitress we were assigned(I feel like she was the GM/owner?) treated us very poorly. I get I’m in high school, but I’m spending money like anyone else at the restaurant: I expect the same treatment. I saw a buddy of mine who I haven’t seen in about 2 years, went up and said hi. After a few seconds of talking, the GM came over and said«THISISN’T A HIGHSCHOOLCAFETERIA!» And told me to return to my seat immediately. Be in mind I was very thoughtful of the empty tables around me when I chose my vocal tone for the conversation. Listen, that REALLY ticked me off. I spent a LOT of money on dinner for my team, and you treated me like a toddler. I don’t care if I’m 16 or 61, I work hard in my business, and when I spend money I expect it’s worth to come out of it. I’m in the service industry– I get we have bad and stressful days, but the failure to come back and say«hey, sorry, I was just stressed out» topped it off for me. My company will NOT be returning for future gatherings to this restaurant.

I just can’t get over how perfect their pulled pork is, and there’s so many ways you can have it! Pulled pork nachos, traditional pulled pork sandwich, pulled pork burritos. obviously I’m a sucker for pulled pork anything. The Espresso Martini was by far the strongest I’ve ever had(thus far), but still incredibly delicious. However, I was mainly sold on it because it was promised to be garnished with a dollop of whipped cream(sweet tooth). Lo and behold, it arrived to our table(…20 minutes later) and that wasn’t the case. Outdoor seating is available, and I believe there are live music nights. Friendly staff, great food. Overall, it would take a heck of a lot for me to stop coming here. I enjoy The Farm, and I’ll be back soon!

I can’t believe I waited so long to give this place a try! So far we’ve been here twice and it’s been great both times. The first time, we sat inside and the AC was blowing so cold that we barely could concentrate on eating. The second time, we sat outside and it was great. They have all kinds of fun things to do if you hang around there. Volleyball, horseshoes, a sandbag game… Totally fun and keeps kids occupied. Drinks are awesome! I had a pop rocks martini, but there is a bunch more that I wanted to try. Pulled pork nachos are as amazing as they sound! Tried the BBQ(smoked) plate the first time. It was good but some of the items weren’t to my particular tastes. Chicken used a dry rub and the ribs were very spicy. But the steak tips! Amazing! Ordered them alone this time. My husband got them with Baked Haddock as Surf N Turf. Tons of food and really reasonable! The steak tips need absolutely nothing on them! They are that good! My friends got some amazing looking burgers, one was a quarter pound burger topped with pulled pork. Make sure you try some cornbread. Can’t comment on the desserts because we’ve been stuffed everytime. Even when we split one meal and app the first time. They have an ice cream stand next door, though.
