I’m not sure I would drive 45 minutes to visit The Donut King(as an earlier Unilocaler did), but I would certainly never drive through Eufaula without stopping to get some of these yummy treats. And while the donuts are as great as any others you’ve had(I especially enjoyed the cream-filled donut), what makes this a 5-start review is the staff who works here. The African-American woman who served us was delightful, gracious and loving her job, and that put a smile on our faces for the rest of the day. This is a true hole in the wall establishment and, in my mind, that means it’s great.

Mmmm. Maybe the best donut, melt in your mouth, I’ve ever had. We also got a bag of donut holes(that’s munchkins to us northeasters) and they were equally scrumptious. And the place is so REAL. Love it. I will drive this way to the panhandle every time for these!

We drove about 45 minutes from Fort Mitchel to try The Donut King in Eufaula. Being from Central Florida we also have a Donut King( ) which, as far as I’m concerned are the best donuts anywhere. The Florida Donut King(no relation to the Eufaula one) are the standard we hold every donut up to. The Donut King in Eufaula is without a doubt worth the trip. The donuts here are different than most others. These donuts are more dense and when you have that first bite your taste buds will curl due to all the sugar. The cake of the donut doesn’t rise like most donuts and is not light or fluffy but heavy, dense and slightly greasy– not necessarily in a bad way. If you’ve ever had a Smashburger burger, these donuts are the donut equivalent. Even down to the way the staff handles the donuts, kind of smoshing them when they pack them in to go boxes. The filled donuts have ample filling– you’ll find lemon, vanilla cream, jelly and Bavarian at The Donut King. The also had chocolate iced with sprinkles, glazed, donut holes, strawberry iced, chocolate éclairs on our visit. They start making donuts at 5am and close when they run out. When I called they said they would put some aside for us and hold them until we arrived. I was also told they’ll close anywhere from between 11am-3pm, depending on when they run out. Service was friendly in a southern charm kind of way. Everyone waiting for donuts was friendly as well, happily waiting for their donuts. The shop itself is a total hole in the wall. It’s in a tiny space on a corner in quaint little Eufaula. The whole building looks like it might fall over and the air-conditioning felt non-existent. There is just enough space in front of the counter to peruse the donuts before getting out of there. There is a cooler with some bottled drinks and that’s about it. So how does this The Donut King stand up to our Florida Donut King? Both deserve 5 stars but you can’t really compare the two. This King’s donuts are so dense and killer sweet you won’t be able to eat more than one without going into a diabetic coma. But man, would it be worth it!

Best donuts I’ve ever had. Well worth the stop. We got there at 6:30am and they were still making the donuts. There are no seats, you just take your donuts and go. We ate in the car. They have decent coffee and juice & water but the main attraction is of course the donuts. My husband got a cinnamon twist, I got a chocolate iced and we both got a glazed. They were so delicious and couldn’t be fresher. Highly recommend! Plus she was sweet and as nice as can be. Great start to your day!

The glazed doughnuts melt in your mouth like butter! Don’t expect atmosphere, or a place to sit… it’s basically a door that opens to a counter with sweet treats. Staff is friendly and patient, as my little girl studies her options before FINALLY making her choice. Worth a drop in when you’re craving something sweet and fattening.

Hands down the best donuts in existence! I grew up in Eufaula but have since moved off and have never come close to finding donuts as good as these. The donut holes and regular glazed donuts are my favorite but everything is good! Everyone I have ever told about this place doesn’t believe they really are the best donuts ever until they try it out for themselves. I’ve never had a person who has actually tried the donuts disagree!

By far the best doughnuts I’ve ever had in my life. If I’m ever in a one hour radius of this place again I will make sure I stop by. I had an éclair and my daughter had a sprinkle. I saw a steady stream of people pop in for a bag of doughnut holes so I figured the locals knew something I didn’t and grabbed a bag on the way out. All I can say is wow! The heck with a Klondike bar, the unspeakable things I would do for another bag right now are better left in the dark recesses of my mind instead of being displayed for civilized people to read in a Unilocal review

Amazingly good donuts! Just their regular glazed are my favorite but I love their honey buns too. If you like strawberry, their strawberry icing has a really strong strawberry flavor that you can tell is freshly made. Delicious.

The doughnuts were awesome especially the vanilla cream filled doughnut. The staff was very friendly and was in awe of the giant taxidermy bass collection. The guy doing all the cooking caught them and was very informative about fishing. I will stop here every time I pass through.

I am a doughnut expert, and I have done a lot of traveling where I have tried the local doughnuts. This is the best doughnut I have ever ate. The town is small and the shop itself is tiny, but well worth the stop if ever in Alabama!
