Unilocal should have a category for food cart. Most of these questions are pretty silly when you’re talking about a food cart. I didn’t see them the first year or two I was at UO. I’m glad someone specifically pointed the little cart out. The falafel is the kind I like — moist, fluffy, kind of creamy, but solid, crispy on the outside. The pita & salad are good too. I can’t speak for the hot sauce(spice wuss). The lemonade is not very good. I always tell them I don’t want it. The people are always super friendly. We’re lucky to have them RIGHTTHERE. Yum.

Very tasty falafels at a good price. I love the sauce. Beware of the hot sauce tho, it can get ya! Alexander is really friendly, always enjoy seeing him.

I enjoy the falafel at Alexander’s. Flavors are very good and the value is great. This is not for you snooty pooches. This is simply great grub. There must be 50 places to eat within a few blocks and Alexander’s is certainly one of my favorites. It’s street food Eugene style. It’s fun and tasty and cheap and fast. Get it spicy!

I’m coming to the end of my first year as a student at U of O, and had realized my lunch routine had gotten into quite a rut. I’m vegan, so finding quick, convenient delicious vegan food on the go can be tricky sometimes. Alexander’s Great Falafel has now drastically improved my on-campus(and off-campus, for that matter) lunch prospects! The deluxe was incredible! Tasty, fresh, filling, and generally completely satisfying. The falafel is enough to make this place awesome, but the people that work there and the free lemonade add even more to this cart’s appeal. I have a feeling that next year this will be a weekly(at least) stop for me!

First and only falafel I’ve had. Kind of messy and had a weird falafel to lettuce ratio, but overall really tasty! I’m a fan.

Surprisingly one of the better«ethic» food spots ive munched at in this fine town of Eugene. I love me some falafel, and like most other food spots in Eugene, my hopes werent very high for, of all things… falafel! The people workin the cart were cool and friendly, and serving a free small cup of lemonade with a purchase is simply delightful! But daaaaaaaaaaamn… six dollahs for a falafel pita?! I mean, itsa pretty fat pita, but six beans?! NO! I dunno, i hardly ever see anyone at this food cart, but id be willing to bet a falafel/hummus plate(8 or 9 bucks) that if they dropped the prices down a buck or two, theyd have a pretty decent line of customers throughout the day. So…is that lemonade really ‘free’? Or is it factored into the price of the falafel? Honestly, id be more likely to go back to this spot if the prices were a little more in line with the product. But hey, thats just me. Ill probably hit em again sometime, but not as soon as my pockets would allow.

Can’t understand why everyone loves this place, or at least seem to on Unilocal. It was one of the worst falafel experiences of my life. It was a messy, mostly flavourless, way-too-much hummus disaster. It came with free lemonade. That made it two stars. Also, I never see anyone ordering from this food cart ever. I don’t know where all these Unilocalers come from. It’s a mystery.

Meh. Nothing special. Cheap and fast. Nice old couple. The falafel is good; I like how it is seasoned. I was slightly afraid to eat my falafel because the man making my falafel was also handling the money. Not too sanitary… I ate it anyway hoping I would not get sick, and I did not get sick. Horray!

Used to go to this place all the time, but hadn’t been in a while, so I decided to pop back over and see if it’s still as good as ever. And it is, oh yes, it is. It was like biting into fried balls of nostalgia and good memories. Oddly, Alexander himself wasn’t there — it seemed like his daughters were running the stand for the day. Still, they were just as friendly and awesome as he is, and he has taught them well in the art of Falafel-ing. There’s nothing quite like a freshly fried falafel with hot sauce on a cold wintery day, and Alexander(and now his family, apparently) do the best job of them in Eugene. Stop by and you won’t be disappointed!

In the cart world of Eugene, AGF bows to no one. Alex is as cool as an owner can get. He recognizes me when I return, sometimes with weeks and weeks between. He’s friendly, humorous and always willing to spark conversation about the ins and outs of Eugene, the world and beyond(we’ve discussed astronomy. heh heh). The falafel is great, the hummus is delicious, and then the kicker… his from-scratch hot sauce. Let me explain. I love hotly-spiced things. I love spices, and I love hot peppers. I grow them and put them on and into lots of things — sauces, salsas of various shapes and sizes, and much, much more. In fact, I often delight in recreating the delicious hot things that come across my palate. So when Alex asks, «Hot sauce my friend?»…I say«yes, and could you please add a little extra». So far, I’ve not been able to replicate it. It’s fresh-tasting, has some herbs in it, and is chunkier than smooth, but it isn’t anything close to be picoesque. I’ve resigned to just enjoying the hot sauce where it belongs, on AGF’s falafel pita. Thanks for the lemonade, the conversation, and great food. Peace out.

Love this place. Absolutely amazing. I’m practically a meatatarian and this place is still one of my fave places in Eugene. The falafel’s are the best I’ve ever had and reasonably priced. Only drawbacks are the short hours they’re open and that they don’t take credit.

Bottom line: solid street food at reasonable prices. The menu is pretty basic with falafel, falafel and more falafel(I guess that’s why it’s called Alexander’s Great FALAFEL), but if their mission is to do one thing and do it well, they succeed. I was visiting the U of O for a meeting and checked Unilocal to find a quick lunch somewhere in the vicinity. While parking was somewhat difficult to find in this student centered retail area, it was worth the hassle. I ordered the Deluxe Falafel which included six falafel balls, hummus, veggies and tahini sauce in a warm pita. In my own personal opinion, it would have been even better with some chunks of feta thrown in the mix, but I can appreciate the vegan and kosher focus of the owner. At $ 6.50 for a decent sized pita and a cup of lemonade, I also felt that I got good value for my money. All around, a good experience and one that I would consider repeating on my next trip to Eugene.

Awesome. I’ve been eating here for many many years. Never been disappointed. In my opinion this is definitely the best falafel in Eugene(and my friends from the mid-East agree with me!).

I have been to Israel. I have been all over the Middle East. I ate a lot of Falafel. I hate Falafel. I love Alex’s Falafel. I’ve eaten a lot of Alex’s Falafel. I’m not sure what else I can say.

Sheesh, another review for AGF? Why bother? Alexander’s falafel cart already tops Unilocal’s «best lunch,» and even«best restaurant,» categories for Eugene! Well, because Alexander cooks pretty great food. The falafel is fresh, cooked perfectly in clean oil. Hummus is the best I’ve ever had. Tahini, tabouli, and hot sauce are all well-prepared and add complementary flavors. It’s so simple, really, but that’s part of its appeal. Simple, authentic food at a good price. What’s not to give five stars to? I think you’re going to be happy with whatever you order, so my only advice is to make sure you pick up a lot of extra napkins if your choice is the falafel pita. Last week I had an unexpectedly embarrassing, tahini-and-hot-sauce covered walk back through campus to my office. Preparation is everything, kiddos.

I tried this stand based off of the raving reviews for it and have to say I love it! To avoid a long drawn out repeat review of my experience that nearly everyone else seems to be having, I present the bullet-point review: –Incredibly nice –FREE Lemonade –Amazing food –Good value for the price –Consistent(over 3 visits that is) But don’t go there right now, I’m really hungry and don’t want to wait in a long line.

Alexander the Great’s Falafel is awesome and Alex is a really nice guy. The humus is excellent, and I’m a real connoisseur, trust me. The free lemonade is a nice touch. «You want some foil on top?» I just wish the cart was there more, only really there during U of O school days.

The cart is in a good spot for pedestrians out back of the UO bookstore on campus and they make consistently good falafel. Flavorful, fresh and friendly — really how can you go wrong? It is the best and most consistent falafel I’ve eaten, but I don’t necessarily hit up this genre of food in other cities so hard to compare. Definitely best in Eugene.

Yes. If you are ever at the University of Oregon, make sure you head down to 13th and give Alexander’s Great Falafel a try. Each time I order, I know I’m getting the best. Perfect falafel, scrumptious hummus, and make sure to get that hot sauce. You can’t go wrong with Alexander’s. Plus, it’s all vegan! :) P. S. Big ups for the free lemonade. Extra refreshing on those hot days while you wait.
