I can’t tell you how the donuts are because I never got served. The two girls behind the counter were involved in a conversation that was obviously more important than serving me. I chirped a cheerful«good morning» to which neither of them responded. I went ahead and decided on my order and waited for them to acknowledge me. Nothing. They didn’t even look in my direction but continued talking about switching shifts. After waiting 5 or more minutes I left. Won’t go back.

The finest in old-school doughnut shops, friendly service, excellent donuts, if you are looking for a Voodoo or Sweet Life kind of experience or ambience, pass this place up, but for a good old fashioned American donut shop, this is as good as it gets. Downsides are somewhat rough neighborhood, afternoons tend to be packed with high school kids from the nearby North Eugene High School, and no credit or debit cards accepted, but the old-school look & feel of the place, great service, good coffee, and good donuts, make a trip to Cal’s worth it every time

Sometimes when I come here, I want to eat 30 donuts. AWESOME. If you are looking for a donut shop that looks like a the inside of a Mercedes and has enough seating for more than 6 people, this is not your place. The location is not very good(Hard to find parking) and the inside of the store looks like a deli from the 1940’s that hasn’t been renovated or touched up in 1,000 years. Speaking of out of date, They don’t take debit or credit cards. Let me make that clear– CASHONLY. I REPEAT, CASHONLY… I mean, Seriously? It’s 2015. Quality of Food: Amazing. Best donuts in town. Would I Bring My Mother Here?: Yes, we went together today. OVERALL: Little expensive, but well worth it($ 1.50/each). Be careful, one donut turns into 3, which then turns into a bakers dozen. Morning snack or afternoon treat– whatever it is, this place is worth the nightmare of trying to find parking.

Their store is ugly, location is bad. The worst place to take a break and enjoy a donut. The donuts don’t even look that delicious, BUTTHEYARE. I tried their buttermilk cake donut and their buttermilk glazed. Both great. Some of the donuts look like they would be too sweet. But whatever I tried was delightful. Some weeks later. I haven’t had a chance to go back, its all I can think about.

It was really dangerous working out a bit past Cal’s for 12 years. Whether you like raised or cake these donuts are all great! Seriously good consistency. The coffee is nice and strong, too. Be sure to allow plenty of time(like 15 min) if you are going in the morning rush hour zone, as many people have this as a regular stop and there can be a line. I would call ahead and order 2 dozen mixed regular size for my coworkers sometimes, and(until we all started doing weight watchers at work) it was a favorite treat. Now I try really hard to limit myself to 2 when I go by, but they are worth every calorie.

Best donuts in town, hands down! 2 drawbacks — cash only and they don’t open until 11am.

Good: Great service. Fresh Doughnuts. Bad: Only accepts cash. Fancy doughnuts are a little pricey.

Without question, Cal’s has the best maple and chocolate bars that I’ve ever tasted.

I LOVECALS! The best donut in town! Always fresh goodness. Service is always fast and friendly. Just the right amount of topping, to not be overwhelming. Highly recommend, only down side CASHONLY, no debit or credit cards.

Found Cals on our road trip stop for gas & what a dumb luck stop that was! The buttermilk was my favorite but honestly we didn’t find one in the dozen that wasn’t good. The kid behind the counter was great. Not one complaint. If only there was a Cals by my house *sigh*

Fantastic donuts, good service if you get the right person, not so good otherwise. I love the maple bars here, which are airy, always fresh, and not overloaded with maple like at Voodoo. The buttermilk bars are really nice too, they look amazing. I can’t imagine anyone being able to look at those without wanting to buy them. I just wish they’d be open later, I think they close around 2pm every day.

I can pass up donuts from Voodoo, Dunkin’, Day’n’Night and most every other place… but there’s no resisting Cal’s. The apple cinnamon’s great(but so is everything else!).

LOVECALS! Best donuts and bagels around. The donuts are soft and fluffy/fresh. Bagels are super yummy. My 6 year old left her stuffed animal sheep there and we thought it was lost forever, 2 weeks later when we came back to Cals for breakfast, they remembered us an had saved her stuffed animal. :) Great food and great people!

I LOVECAL’S! Amazing donuts and bagels as it turns out, they are so fresh and inexpensive, the family that owns Cal’s is very nice and are always working to please. I’ve started getting bagels and cream cheese once a week and their bagels are quickly becoming a favorite. Don’t forget to bring cash(they don’t take debit) and pick up a dozen today, you’ll be glad you did!

The demographic-douchery of Unilocal: Voodoo has 143 reviews, Cal’s has 8. Donuts are 85 cents apiece, fresh, and the best in town. Classic all the way. Bring a dozen of these into work and nobody will jizz all over a pink box or spend a half hour discussing the ‘creative’ names of the donuts. They’ll just munch down, say thank you, and think good thoughts about you the rest of the day. If you find yourself in this part of town, scrape the change out of your car and choose whatever donut you would have wanted when you were 8. You won’t be disappointed.

I will always frequent and support a local business with consistently great food and customer service! The selection is fabulous, whether you’re having a raised or cake-style doughnut. I’ve never had anything that tastes old, stale or even greasy. No matter what time of day, I’ve always had fresh doughnuts I love the after 2pm deal, too! The only change I’d make would be for them to take debit cards.

A-OK… I didn’t know what to expect going in here, except for something probably a little higher quality than store bought donuts. This expectation was met, service was kind and quick. .75 is the cheapest donuts, and it goes up from there. They open early and are local. I think taking advantage of the«dozens» they sell is for sure they way to go if you need bulk. They don’t take credit/debit because of the processing fee’s associated with it. If they swipe a rewards card that’s running them 3.5% per transaction, they’re losing money in the long run. Common with mom and pop businesses, service stores, donut shops, and other small ticket pricing businesses.

We always buy pastries for Christmas breakfast, but my family has traditional tastes. Voodoo just wouldn’t do. I stopped in at Cal’s on Christmas Eve morning to pick up a dozen donuts, and was impressed at the size of the pastries and the cost.(Warning: cash or check only.) The donuts are baked fresh each morning and the clerk told me they donate the leftovers to the Eugene Mission at the end of each day. Anyway, the donuts were still fresh Christmas morning and for a few days after that. Some of the frosting came off and got smeared on other donuts, but that’s not a real tragedy in the grand scheme of things. On the rare occasion when a donut run is necessary, this place will hit the spot.
