Eugene Mongolian Grill

Service was mediocre, perhaps because there was only one woman seating customers, bringing drinks to the table, and occasionally checking on us (we arrived at 5pm when the place was nearly empty; by 6pm it was crowded). The food IS healthy (according to my vegan wife) but, as mentioned by another reviewer, the cook only heats one bowl at a time (unlike other Mongolian grills, where several bowls are cooked simultaneously). No atmosphere whatsoever. All in all, we probably won’t return, unless my wife insists.

I recently moved to Eugene and Eugene Mongolian Grill is about a block away. The establishment is very clean. The entire staff is friendly and personable. Our server was quick to clear plates and refill drinks. The price for lunch and dinner is very reasonable. Assortment for the grill could be larger, but what is available tastes good.

It all looked so good and healthy… Until the next day when me and my friend ended up pissing out our butts. Not cool, they need a re do, an upgrade on the cleanliness, and start over…

Very good, very clean! Staff is friendly and usually pretty quick, only negative is it’s just a little spendy for dinner! Especially if your not a big water! But all in all it’s a good place to grab some grub!

I like this place. Good food, good prices. It’s your typical Chinese take out. The people are nice, and they have a rather large menu.

Clean, LOTS of choices, friendly people! I get to ½ cook! That is great for me (tend throw things around when I cook). We shall return!

Lawsuit alleges discrimination at restaurant

A gay woman who says she was subjected to pervasive harassment while working as a cook at a Eugene restaurant is suing the establishment and its owner, alleging discrimination.
The suit filed in Lane County Circuit Court seeks $ 49,000 in damages from the Eugene Mongolian Grill, a restaurant on River Road, and owner Huan Truong. It was filed by an attorney for Lacey Yearous, who worked at the restaurant for about 18 months after starting in September 2011.
Truong has not yet filed a response to the lawsuit and did not return a call seeking comment.
The suit says that soon after Yearous started working at the restaurant, two male cooks began harassing her in a variety of ways, including using broomsticks and vegetables to simulate sex acts. It also says the men would force Yearous and her girlfriend to kiss in front of them.
Also, the lawsuit says one of the men would plead with Yearous to have sex with him, «saying that if she did she wouldn’t be gay any longer.»
Another claim is that Spanish-​speaking women who visited the restaurant with their children complained to the staff that the male cooks were making sexually inappropriate comments about their daughters.
Yearous claims that Truong once came into the kitchen when the harassment was taking place but turned and walked away. The lawsuit says she confronted him several times about the problem but Truong became «very irritated and annoyed» and ultimately fired her.
Yearous filed a complaint with the Bureau of Labor and Industries early this year, and in April the agency issued a finding in her favor. It later opened the door for a lawsuit by issuing a right-​to-​sue letter, the suit says.
The lawsuit accuses Truong and the restaurant of allowing sexual harassment based on gender and sexual orientation, retaliating against Yearous for complaining about the alleged conduct and allowing a hostile and offensive work environment.
It seeks $ 35,000 in economic damages and $ 14,000 in noneconomic damages.
Yearous is represented by Eugene attorney Brian Pocock.
No trial date has been set.

Hate to say it but they changed Lousy service last few times and food made me sick, likely MSG since I always get sick on MSG. Too bad they had it down for a while.

I am not sure when it was that the Mongol horde overran Eugene and set up shop with a restaurant but it probably doesn’t matter. I’ve been a fan of this kind of dining since the early 1980s and I am glad it has spread.
The battle in my mind was whether to give it two or three stars. I truly have had better, but at the same time I have preached over and over on Unilocal that you need to review based on where you are at and the expectation of a restaurant. You certainly don’t compare a fine mexican food restaurant with a magnificent reputation against Taco Bell, nor would you compare a Sizzler to a fine steak house in Chicago. With that in mind, I am sticking with three stars because this place truly is A-​OK.
If I have any complaints about Eugene Mongolian Grill it is that the bowls dictate the amount you are charged, and it is not really well marked that this is the case. This last time I used a larger bowl for The Tax Deduction to eat having no idea that it is a full price bowl, it was simply the bowl closest to my reach. So, a little clarity would have been nice.
The meats are plentiful and this is the only Mongolian place I have been to that has ham chunks available. I tried it and it did go pretty well with the seasonings and sauces available. The veggies were fresh and the choices were many on add on items for your dish including some of my favorites like bean sprouts and sliced carrot.
The service was great, very attentive and the place is pretty huge so waiting for seating isn’t a big problem. I’ve been here about four times now and each time I walk out pretty well happy with my choice based on where I am.

Food was good — great way to eat lots of veggies and meat — skipping the rice and noodles (carbs) if that is your thing.)Its hard to get a decent meal eating out that isn’t mostly starches.)
Décor was bland — so the ambiance could be improved — but overall I ate well and left satisfied!

i LOVE mongolian grill. It is my first choice when my boyfriend and I eat out. The ONLY and I mean ONLY reason I EVER go to this location is because they will let me take my leftovers home (if you only go through once and don’t finish your bowl).
The service SUCKS so bad. I have literally walked in, stood right at the counter, 5 feet from a girl who was too busy on her phone to acknowledge me, or seat me since the sign says «Please wait to be seated». Once she did notice me, she took us to our table where she proceeded to ask what we wanted to drink. With ZERO enthusiasm, she said she would be back with my lemon water. She brought my water and then took an additional 25 minutes to bring me a small cup of lemons.
Don’t let this specific incident fool you, this is a regular occurrence, and has happened literally every time I have been to this location.
The guys working the grill are usually scummy, and stare at you like your a piece of meat they cant wait to sink their teeth in. Not one waitress has ever taken their time to actually do their job.
Very unimpressed with this location/​staff. Jungs is a much more pleasant experience, if only they would let you take your first time through home!

This place doesn’t hold a candle to Jungs. The ingredients didn’t look fresh, the service was marginal, and the facility looked dirty.
If you’re hungry for Mongolian grill, Jungs out West 11^th is the way to go. Better pricing, better service, better food.

Okay… another Eugene restaurant I will not go back to. I am having a tough time finding a really great place to eat in the Eugene/​Springfield area! I really must have become a serious food snob having living in the Los Angeles area for 40 years. And I REALLY want to find great food here! A place that I can take visiting family and friends to. But this one did not do it for me.
So, looking at the reviews on Unilocal,I certainly was not going to Lee’s in Springfield and Jungs is on the other side of town. But I really wanted Mongolian. So I took the kids here. They are both big Mongolian fans too. We walk in and the place was very clean and orderly. Everything looked normal.
The waitress explains that they have the small bowl for one time through or the large bowl for the all you can eat. This did not make much sense to me. I figure if you only have one shot through, you’d need the larger bowl. Whatever.
I get up there and the ingredients look great! But they do not have lamb. I was disappointed. So pork it was. I load up all my usual stuff and get to the sauces. Teriyaki??? I thought Mongolia was part of China… Teriyaki is Japanese… Very confused. I did like they had oyster sauce, garlic, and chile sauce.
The three of us put our bowls on the counter and the guy cooking cooks them one at a time… HUH??? Literally we were eating on shifts! I have never seen a Mongolian restaurant cook one at a time. If they got busy, it would take them FOREVER!!! And then the cook squirted some of that crappy Teriyaki sauce on it afterward without asking! DUDE!!! If I wanted that I would have put that!!!
The taste was ruined and I doubt it would have been that much better without it. We didn’t get any hot tea. No side dishes. Not even an egg roll. And it was $ 2 more a plate than I have ever paid in SoCal!
May go to Jungs but I think I may be equally disappointed. I hope not. Really wished these places did the lamb though…

Overall a good experience. The staff was very friendly and explained the «system» they have. If you have been to Jungs, it is tight and noisy! (Not always a bad thing.) The tables here are well spaced. The cooks use wooden wands to stir the food: much nicer than clanging spatulas! Also the grill is centrally located, and it was fun for the kids to watch the cooks in action. The selection was what one would expect, although the meat selection seemed a little small (pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, krab and tofu). Everything was clean and fresh. My one complaint is the sauces seemed weak. I scrapped the bottom of the pots for some extra bang. One warning: if you are highly allergic to peanuts or shellfish I would avoid this place or request they use something other than the wooden wand.

This is probably the best Mongolian place I have eaten at in all of Oregon and Washington. It looks like it might be mediocre until you actually start eating the stuff and your tongue starts to wag.
They do a few things better than most places… the more than likely home-​made sauces… the thin noodles all mixed with the rice, delicious! I try and stop by anytime I am in Eugene. Good stuff!

Great food. Nice people. Reasonable prices. What else could one ask for?

This business is right across the street from where I work at a competing restaurant. They have always got a smile on their face and are always keeping the food well stocked and fresh. Great variety and quality too.

My favorite Mongolian grill! Yummy!

Awesome food. Sort of standard mongolian style places, you fill your bowl with veggies, noodles, tofu, meat, shrimp etc. Next choose the spices you want (they have many, I recommend the garlic and hot oil) then they cook it right in front of you pushing it around a huge round grill. If you cannot finish your first bowl, you can take the rest home.

Great place I travel a far bit and come to Eugene often… Always stop by when i’m in town
