Solar Beach Tanning

Don’t like the place, it’s run down, people that work there seem nice, but in my opinion they belong in a higher class place, the owner needs to get it together

The Salon owner Shelley is AMAZING! Her business and customer service are what’s going to keep her a great business!
Lisa is a sweetheart and makes the experience comfortable. Few kinks I am sure they’ll work out.
After 3 days my spray is so blotchy it looks like I have a skin disease. I have a pre-​payed spray I will not be using due to it being pointless.
I can do a better at home tan with St Tropav self tanner.

Kiplee is the best! I have gotten my hair done by her many times. She always does an amazing job, she is super friendly and a true professional! I also recently have had an airbrush tan too and it was completely flawless! Kiplee is definitely my go to girl and I recommend everyone to try her out.

I don’t really come to this place for the tanning, waxing or nails (though I might consider it). I come here because I am follow a stylist who has been doing my hair for a little over 3 years now. If you ever need a rad new hair style, talk to Jesse Jones. The guy is a mad genius. He’s a whiz with coloring, visionary with cutting and styling, and he is also a licensed barber in Florida. The guy is so good, I wait for him to fly back to Oregon from Florida every three months, no one does hair like him, and he is always willing to listen to the ideas you have. Even if you don’t have much to say, he still wants your input so that you get what you like.
Jesse has colored my hair a total of 4 times. First time was a weave with blue, second time was another. Third time was an all over job with purple and green, final time was a bit of natural red. Every dye has stayed in for long periods of time, and they look fantastic, even when faded.
Since I’ve been going to him for years, I’ve gotten to a point where I just show up and let him do his thing, and I always walk out happy as hell because I look amazing.
As for Solar Beach and Tanning as an establishment, everyone is very sweet. The setting is casual. I’ve been offered a couple slices of pizza while getting my hair done and even a beer. Like I said, casual, and all around wonderful.

I have been to Solar Beach Tanning for a few different treatments. I was introduced to this business through Groupon deals with the individuals I bought services from.
I have never been to Solar Tanning for a hair cut, hairdressing or styling at all. All of the people I have met there, especially the owner, are very friendly people who I liked whenever I interacted with them.
I know that Lisa does waxing as a subset of her main services– I know she prefers to do hair styling and that she is likely superb in that department of services. I am only writing this review to offer information as to how the service of waxing done by Lisa at Solar Beach Tanning was lacking and could be done better.
Over the 4 different times I went to get a brazilian wax from her– there were always decent sized patches of hair left in random places in my nether areas– where there were patches of hair and how much was always varied… however, I would have liked to be actually fully waxed completely at least once, which sadly, didn’t happen. The couple times when I pointed this out to her, she instructed me to shave 2 days after my waxing appointment.
I came in for a brazilian– yet the first couple times I didn’t get one because Lisa was very vocal about her opinion that no hair on my privates was «unnatural» looking and «weird looking” — even though that is what a full brazilian is. I should have stood by what I signed up for– but there is something about being half naked, private parts bared that makes me very susceptible to what the other person’s opinions are.
My skin is sensitive. However, I don’t think it’s the waxer’s job description to assert to their client that thier skin not liking having hairs ripped out of it is abnormal. To me– knowing how to make sure the skin being waxed doesnt become excessively red and swollen should be a typical part of a waxer’s knowledge in providing the service of waxing.
During the appointments when I was trying to use breathing techniques to calm myself and relax through the pain– Lisa insisted I keep talking; because if I didn’t– she said that what she was doing would be weird… If I was doing best just breathing and letting her do her work– why not let me just breathe, why make me talk?
I havent gotten many bikini or brazilian waxes– but I am pretty certain it isn’t typical practice to ask the person being waxed to cough violently when the hardened wax is being yanked off.
I contacted her to schedule an appointment as we had talked about at the end of my previous appointment. It took her about 2 weeks from my sending that text for Lisa to get back to me to schedule the appointment. When she did, Lisa asked me who I was. I told her who I was and she responded that she doesn’t save all of her business contacts in her phone. (Which to me was odd, because before the 2^nd appointment I had with her– she sent me a text to confirm that I was coming for my appointment the morning of my appointment…)
I think Lisa could be a much better waxer if she focused more on the efficient and effective execution of her task instead of distracting the client from physical repercussions of what they have chosen to do with their body.

I found a Groupon for hair and decided to give this place a try. It is now my regular spot. The customer service is AMAZING! April who does my hair is the fantastic; she does a beautiful job with my hair and is very reasonably priced. Shelly the owner is fabulous. She is knowledgeable, honest and very hardworking!

I’ve never really cut or colored my hair much but Lisa said, «Trust me.» I did, it looks FABULOUS. She’s so creative, fun, and makes you feel like a beauty queen while in her chair. Lisa did an amazing job on my hair and my 7 year old daughter’s curly hair, which other stylists could not do and we both received compliment after compliment, as well, she did a great job on my two boys hair which other stylists have not really been able to do either, and the way Lisa talked to them and made them feel so comfortable that I now have two boys that beg me to take them to her to get their hair cut, when they dreaded it because of other places I took them to. Lisa is so easy to talk to and very fun, which after reading some of the earlier reviews I was skeptical of having her do a wax on me, but she was great! She got my anxiety level way down and made me feel very comfortable. No more buying hats for me! Don’t ever move away, Lisa, we need you in Eugene!
Also, because the owner (I believe her name was Shelly) was so super friendly I need to mention her as well, it’s always nice (and rare) that you walk into a business and are greeted with a smile and chipper personality that can instantly turn your bad day into a great day. They have really been updating their salon and it’s starting to look great! It’s a bit far from where I live but well worth the drive, their tanning beds and packages are great, friendly owner, professional staff, it’s the only salon I and my children will go to, and I highly recommend!

I have rarely had the consistently excellent quality of customer service I get at Solar Beach Tanning! I have had a variety of services, including great waxing and facials from Lisa Olsen and massages and I’ve been in all of the tanning beds including the stand-​up bed and really enjoy that relaxing time!
The services that I keep coming back for is the infrared body wraps. You can ask Shelly, the manager all about them, but I will tell you they relax me and take chronic pain away which lasts for days! My body cleans out through perspiration and I drink a lot more water the rest of the day after a wrap. They now have 2 rooms so it is easier to get a body wrap appointment.
The best part of Solar Beach Tanning is the people. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and generous! They aren’t afraid to hire new people to serve their growing clientele and give those fresh out of school an opportunity. They keep remodeling and improving the place, without inconveniencing us. It is bright, welcoming and I really love the people!

I moved to Eugene a little over two years ago for school. Back home I had gone to the same tanning salon for ages. After about a year and a half of looking, I found Solar Beach and for as long as I live in Eugene, I wont be tanning anywhere else! It immediately felt like my tanning salon back home because of how friendly everyone there was, Shelly works so hard to know all of her clients on a personal level and goes above and beyond for everyone. I recommend this place to everyone!

This one has an interesting story… About a year ago my sister was in town and she was like «I wanna get my nails done» my response: Please don’t make me go through this with you.
I did NOT want to go watch her get her nails done. Unfortunately, or fortunately as it turned out, she dragged me along with her.
I think it was a hot summer day and I was cranky. The last thing I wanted to do was come here. When we walked in we were greeted with a very happy lady. She got my sister in right away with no appointment. I just kinda had a seat in the waiting area with my grumpy self.
I wasn’t able to be grumpy long because this woman was so nice. After she got my sister all settled in with her nail person, she came over to me and said «is there anything you would like done? Haircut? Tanning?»
I wasn’t quite ready for a hair cut, and had only been tanning a few times in my life. So I just said «No, thank you» That was not the answer she wanted. She insisted that I go tanning for FREE“
I was so confused by this. So I agreed. They had this awesome stand-​up bed, (great for someone who’s 6’5″) after that I was hooked. Not because I like tanning, but because of her attitude.
I feel like she knew my name from day one. I would call to make an appointment and felt like she knew who I was right away, every time.
Since this I’ve been here many times. Currently they are in the process of expanding. They are doing all the work themselves. Local family business fighting for our business one smile at a time.
Needless to say, as long as I live in eugene I will never tan anywhere else again.
