I have enjoyed eating at Vernas for years. I was sad to hear they have sold out to a Bar B Q establishment. I wish them luck. The staff has been great I will miss them.

Super friendly service but the food wasn’t all that great. Gravy was very bland, omelet was good but I prefer cheddar instead of processed American cheese, hash browns too greasy for me to eat. We visited around lunch time and decided if we go back, we will get a sandwich and fries. They looked great. (Too bad we decided on breakfast.)

I had a chicken fried steak lunch special. The food was just plain and lacked appeal. I could make better food at home in no time. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t great. Add in some anemic iceberg salad and the dressing was straight from a kraft bottle and I was underwhelmed. I would have tried some pie but the server never came back to check if I needed anything else. Would I go back? no

Since they went non-​smoking we decided to try it out — surprisingly they changed out ceiling tiles AND painted, so there is no lingering smoke smell.
We shared an omelet — which came with hash browns & biscuits and gravy — certainly more than enough for 2.
The gravy was bit bland — if you added some sausage or salt it tasted much better. The biscuits were great big and fluffy — just like biscuits should be. The omelet had ham and American Cheese, and it, too, was delightful.

Verna’s café is a really good place to eat. love their chicken fried steak which they have everyday. they also have a different item everyday Tuesdays enchiladas Thursdays which my girlfriend loves is porkchop day. just really good home cooked for a reasonable price. a little over 5 dollars a plate. the only downfall is she is only open weekdays from 6am to 2pm. and since I work durring the day I can’t get overthere very often. but I would highly recommend this place if you like home cooking.
