We made a reservation to ride at Steve’s Stables near Pond Mountain for our family of four(8, 10, and two adults). Only one of us had ever ridden a horse before, but we all had an awesome time. Steve introduced us to «his boys» and was a genuinely patient and kind person who was a pleasure to spend an hour with riding through the mountains on horseback. Our boys didn’t have much trouble at all with the horses. The youngest’s horse tried to stop and eat a few times rather than staying on the trail, but Steve hopped off his horse and got things going again as my little guy wasn’t entirely comfortable with the reins. Helmets are available for adults and required for kids. The trail itself is absolutely beautiful and winds through the woods with a few impressive views along the way. Almost the entire trail was shaded and it felt very pleasant on the ride even though it was about 90 degrees during our ride. Steve used our camera to take pictures of our family at the end, and I just have to say one more time what a pleasant person he was to be around. We will be sure any time we return to this area Steve’s Stables is on our itinerary, and now that he made all of us love horseback riding this experience will likely influence our future vacation plans wherever we travel next.
