I drink here sometimes and the only reason I go is for the beer. The new semi new bartender absolutely sucks. Straight up bitch! Does not greet or say thank you. Barf at Sarah.

This has become one of my favorite places to hang out. The beer selection is great and the bartenders are always the most intelligent and nicest of people!

I love this place! They have the best beer/cider selection in Humboldt County in my opinion. I love the skateboard art contests they hold. The skateboards that hang with the drink options are always really well done. Friendly staff. Great place to come after Arts Alive! Support your local businesses and come here :) They also have chalk tables and extra chalk to doodle while you drink.

If you really like beer, the local is the place to go in Eureka. People are really nice bartenders are knowledgeable and they poured beers in many different sized glasses as well. It’s a total winner

Really good choices of Local beer. I feel like the beers are just a little pricey compared to most places.

One of my favorite bars in Humboldt. I love that they always have at least a few ciders on tap — I’m definitely more of a cider person than a beer drinker. However, the beer selection is so varied that I’ve always been able to find multiple beers I like. It can get a bit loud and packed(especially on Arts Alive) but the bartender’s always attentive and pretty quick.

I absolutely love this place! They have an amazing selection, a beautiful clean building, and an extremely friendly owner. I didn’t even realize she was the owner, she was so laid back and easy to talk to. Its definitely a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a couple delicious beers! I can’t wait for the cider bar to open now. Top notch.

Incredible selection of local an regional craft beers! If you are a beer lover/geek, you must come here. they had 23 beers on tap and several in bottles in the cooler. No food here but you can bring in grub from the restaurants surrounding the place. All different varieties of beers here from $ 4-$ 10. Most are served in 16oz. size but the stronger ones come in 12 oz. They carry everything from Sours to Stouts. Some of the producers they had on tap while I was there: Baeltane(rare), Ballast Point, Redwood Curtain, Lagunitas, Stone, Eel Rivers and lots more good stuff. 21 and over only. Real mellow vibe here-no rowdies! The next time I come here, I will grab a pizza across the street or barbecue around the corner at Humboldt Smoke House and enjoy the beers.

Amazing. Nice people! Great specials/event calendar. We got lucky and went in during a free pizza with beer night. Bf loves beer and I was thrilled they had a few ciders for me :) we will definitely be returning.

As a beer snob it is hard to find interesting craft beers in Humboldt County. The Local certainly remedies that problem. The prices are reasonable for the variety and novelty of the beers they offer. No food, but that’s fine, they let you bring your own food in, you know that that means… PIZZAPARTTTTYYYY.

The«local» is one of my favorite beer bars ever! My girl and I live in Oakland and we are surrounded by a slew of mediocre beer bars with crazy prices for a pint. Its refreshing to go to a bar that has a great beer selection and a nice knowledgeable staff that truly appreciate beer. The prices are also very reasonable. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming and there are no loud tv’s playing. I can’t recommend this place enough.

My family and I stopped here to try some good beer while visiting eureka. We stayed for several hours, and I want to say we tried every beer on the menu! I am a sour beer kinda girl so I was very happy to to see they had a good selection. My favorite beer of the night was 10 barrel sparkle party. I liked how they offered half glasses so you could enjoy a heavy beer without the overload. I didn’t like how they didn’t offer flights though, but didn’t ruin my experience. There was one bartender working and she was doing an excellent job! I can’t remember her name but we were there on March 29th(shout out to her!). The place was very busy and she never slowed down or ignored a customers urge for conversation. If you like trying different beers and you happen to go to eureka you should check this place out. Keep in mind it will be more expensive than what you’re use to due to the selection of beer, but it’s all about the fun and experience!

Heard a lot of hype about this bar, tried to visit it several times but the doors were closed, though the hours said otherwise. Finally got there lastnight, not impressed at all. 10 $ for a beer is a bit much, no matter how good it is. The girl who was working didn’t even care we were there and was talking on the store phone to her friend. Even for a cider it was 8 $! If this place had food, we didn’t see it. Also«to the girl bartending» the stout That you said was coffee, was NOT coffee it was a dark chocolate. Get your flavors and accents down before saying coffee or chocolate. Either way I’d still drink it, but its the principal of it. I Dont see myself coming back to this bar, beer or not. Its too expensive, 10oz glass for 10 $, is not reasonable at all. Save your money, go to bevmo instead.

Whenever I come back to my hometown I check out the Local. There’s a lot of micro-brew bars down in the East Bay, but I’m always impressed by the variety and quality of beer the Local offers. There’s always a huge range of sours, Belgians, IPAs, and special local brews on top and in bottle. I also appreciate the price range. This is superb beer and it’s nice to have cheap($ 4 to $ 5) draft and bottle options in addition to some of the pricier stuff. The bartenders, moreover, are always incredibly kind, not pretentious, and willing to indulge each and every question you could have about beer, tasting, glasses, etc. They’re also not shy about offering(strong) suggestions about what they think you’d like, which is appreciated when you’re looking at so many options. My only complaint is that there seems to be few to no ambers(. There’s huge number of great West Coast brews, but they tend to be either dark, sour, or huge IPAs. You’re bound to find something else you’d like, but it’s kind of a bummer not to see my favorite type of beer whenever I visit. Also, free pretzels!

I mean, food would be good… but for real: To find a selection like The Local sports, I usually have to dig around in more metro districts… often settling on a place like Barney’s Beanery or whatnot. Kudos to the Local for keeping it fresh, and selecting stuff that exposes palettes to smaller regions they’ll likely never visit.

If you love quality beer, you HAVE to stop in here! 5 stars as a beer bar 6 stars when you consider it’s in Eureka. This beer bar could hold it’s own in any major city including Portland or Seattle. What makes this so awesome is that is in Eureka!!! The owners are incredible at putting together such an amazing and constantly rotating selection of some very hard to find brews. And not just hard to find in Humboldt county, more like hard to find anywhere on the west coast. I consider myself a real beer lover and this place is heaven. Their selection of bottled beers is pretty impressive as well, but what can be found on tap at any given time is just simply stunning. I love that almost every time I visit, I can try something I’ve never had before. Highly, highly recommended for locals and tourists traveling thru, it’s right off North hwy 101. Stop in for a pint. You wont regret it, just make sure you have a DD with you.

The Local is a fantastic place to go sit with friends or alone and enjoy an expansive list of beers. The owner, Darren keeps rotating new beers in so you can always get something different when you go. It has a great chill atmosphere. With a somewhat industrial feel. There is artwork from local artists hanging on the walls and a New mural by a local artist, very cool. If you are looking for a Bud or Coors this place isn’t for you.
