Not sure if this place is still open? I called yesterday and the phone does not go through. Went there on Monday during their business hour but the place is closed. No notice or anything in the door.

My son took one bite and felt sick! Seemed like a nice and clean place. When notified — they still requires us to pay for a meal(that was not eaten. If you are looking for a family friendly place — this is not it!

I’ve been on the hunt to find the best phở in Augusta since I am Vietnamese myself. I came on a rainy night and it was dead when I entered. There was nobody to greet or set us upon entering but once the waiter came around he seated us quickly. My husband and I got a rare steak phở bowl and an order of their fresh spring rolls. I wanted to get an avocado boba but was let down when I was told they don’t offer it. The spring rolls were tasty and the peanut sauce was as well. The phở was a tad bit greasy but was okay. I was more impressed with Phở Bac, although they were somewhat mediocre as well(been there once, could’ve been an off day) but I wouldn’t mind coming back to try other items on the menu since they serve other Asian dishes. I’m definitely gonna try both places more since they’re right across the street to finalize who serves better phở!

Very nice staff but the food was not good. I had phở soup it was just warm and the meat was so tough I could not eat it. My family had the buffet it was also cold much better across the street at Phở Bac.

Decent place because it is clean and service is great but not a place I would go back to. The food at the buffet was not all that. I didnt enjoy it much. Theres another vietnamese restuarant across the street called Phở Bac. That place is awesome

Ambience. B. Clean place and clean bathrooms. Service. B. Ultra friendly and always willing to make sure you’re happy. Even though there are 2 Vietnamese restaurants in Evans right across the street from one another. Guess it’s good competition, however, I still like the flavors at Phở Bac better across the street. Also, the menu has all Vietnamese dishes, Viet Royal can also cook Chinese Malaysian style. There apparently was an insert of chef specials that not everyone got in their menus. OR if you know what you like and they have the ingredients, they can create a dish by your request. Food. C. It’s a hit and miss for me. Presentation is nice. Fresh tomatoes and cucumber is the main garnish. Dishes are flavorful. However, the 2 hot pot dishes of fish and pork were way too salty. I was warned it was a salty dish and they wrote on my ticket less salt. I learned that this is is «considered the«poor man’s» dish in Vietnam, the more salty means you want to eat more rice to cut the salt. Don’t think I’ll do this one again. Across the street at Phở Bac. Their dish is perfectly carmelized with bigger chunks of fish and not so salty. I did like the soft shell crab appetizer. Fried perfectly and moist on the inside. The chef special Chinese eggplant with chicken was cooked in a sweet chili brown sauce. I thought it was flavorful, but most people at the table thought it was too sweet! Everybody’s a critic! Price. B. Keep an eye on your bill. I was charged $ 3 too much on an item. They happily corrected the problem. And they did add 15% gratuity to the bill since we had a party of 16+ It’s just okay. It’s a hit and miss for me.

I can only comment on the quality of the only dish I get here-the charbroiled pork bun ’cause it’s seriously the best I’ve ever had in town. Now let me explain that the only other Vietnamese place in town is right across the street and they have better phở. But this is bun-the deliciously cold noodle salad that chills your bones and refreshes your palate at the same time. It’s not to be confused with the meat pâté/veggie combination that comes on a bun called banh mi ’cause that’s another review and another place all together. I only get takeout here ’cause no one else wants to eat Vietnamese food with me and I feel like people can hear me chew at this place ’cause there’s usually no one dining in the restaurant during the off peak times I eat dinner and lunch anyhow. I’m very self-conscious and hate servers asking, «how is everything?» when you’ve got a mouth full of noodles and a sheepish grin on your face. Now takeout can be hit or miss at a lot of places, especially when toppings and sauces are involved. Let me just say that I’ve never ever been disappointed with the nice folks here. My fish sauce is always plentiful and they’re always willing to accommodate my desire to douse my taste buds in too much rooster sauce. I love it when people aren’t chintzy with the sauce. I’m normally not a charbroiled pork kind of girl and 9⁄10 get a grilled shrimp bun to compliment the sauce better but after reading a previous Unilocalers review/hint, I decided to put my faith in the almighty Unilocal gods and give it a go. I was not disappointed at all! Thick and crispy pork with a nice char to it that offset the chilliness of the noodles and lettuce hit the spot so well. It rivals my favorite phở place in L.A. and San Francisco and they should really be proud of their recipe. You’ve gotta try it if you’re adventurous and looking for something a little different ’cause I’d be heartbroken if they had to take it off the menu for lack of want. 53⁄2014

I had to give this place an updated review. I come here maybe once a month and the quality remains a constant. The food is delicious. The service is fast and friendly. They have a lunch buffet now that I have not tried yet, but I will only come here for the food on the menu. If you ever want to try something other than their already tasty bun or phở, I seriously suggest you try the crispy fried egg noodles with beef or chicken. You get a plate of delicious meats, noodles, and vegetables combined with the most exotic and delicate flavors. I don’t know what it is called, but look on the menu on the«fried noodle section». Your mind will be blown. Thank you Viet Royal for your high standards in delivering the best service to your customers.

Excellent food. The fish pineapple salad was delicious, but strong with mint. I loved it. My wife had a tofu dish and loved it. The hot tea was delish. The fried egg rolls were awesome. My wife claimed they were the best she’d ever had. We came back a couple days later for the buffet. The best Chinese style buffet I’ve had in the Augusta area. I am stuffed! I’ll have to skip supper. Every dish was very good, even the dessert, which is usually so-so at a Chinese buffet. Many of the dishes was very spicy, the way I like it.

If you are looking for good food and a value, this it. Family run and always clean. Good health department inspection reports, unlike the other one. Phở is best; Bun is also good. The pork is superb, their best. Service is quiet and unassuming: they are always there, but you never notice them.

I love this place! I will continue to come back. I’ve only had like three things from here but I’m never disappointed. The phở is outstanding. I usually have to doctor mine up with sriracha and hoisin sauce but not here! I’ve also had the bun Bo hue here as well. It too is tasty. My boyfriend loves the virmacelli noodle bowls. He says there isn’t enough noodles in it though. He is a big eater. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Just remember they are closed Tuesdays.

We ordered spring rolls and 2 bowls of phở and the total bill was $ 12! They offered 30% off for phở and since my bf was in the military, they offered 10% off as well. The service was exceptional, maybe bc it wasn’t busy but regardless very attentive and nice. Only qualm is that they don’t serve chicken phở. I wanna go back and try more of the extensive menu!

Excellent egg rolls — perfectly fried. Better than the phở place across the street, where the egg rolls come out doughy half the time. We ordered some duck soup dish and a regular phở bowl. I don’t usually deviate from my normal combo phở, but today I was very glad I did. The duck came in a broth with these awesome noodles. I will call this the Vietnamese version on ramen. It was epic. This may be my new go-to dish. On a random night when we came in just for some good phở, all the elements came together for the perfect meal.

Love this place. Granted, I only get the same thing every time I come, but they know how to do it right. Don’t come here for phở(do yourself a favor and walk 50 meters over to the phở restaurant across the parking lot.) but if you want anything Vietnamese besides phở, come here. The soft shell crab here is wonderful. It comes out nice an crispy, and not oily or soggy at all. I always order the Chargrilled Pork over broken rice dish. I’ve had this same dish at the other Vietnamese restaurant(50 meters away.) and it was not half as good as this one. The grilled pork is amazing. Perfectly marinated and tender. The broken rice soaked up all the juices, and the fried egg is yummy. This is hands down my favorite Vietnamese dish in general, and Viet Royal’s rendition is the best I’ve had so far(and that is saying a LOT, given that I’m Vietnamese myself). One thing that’s sad about this place is that it’s sort of dead. Everyone always goes to the neighboring Phở place instead. It’s tragic, because Viet Royal actually offers better Vietnamese cuisine all around, but I guess most people only equate Viet food with phở.:/

Very cozy, very authentic. I almost wish Viet Royal was located elsewhere(i.e. further than two miles away from the other Phở place across the street) because every time I’m in the area I’m plagued with the moral dilemma of choosing between the established giants and the challenger minnows. Nevertheless, my dining experience at Viet Royal felt a lot more personal than that at the aforementioned Phở place across the street; the service was very attentive and friendly – the lady who served us was not hesitent at all to strike up a conversation and even express her own feelings/opinions, which is something that wait staff don’t tend to do at Vietnamese restaurants of authentic calibre. Although Viet Royal doesn’t have Phở Ga they do have Bun Bo Hue and a lot more Chinese-influenced choices; when I went they had this dish called«Sleeping Duck on the Golden Pond.» I have no idea if this is actually a common Vietnamese dish since I haven’t seen it in very many Vietnamese restaurants, but it looked kind of like kamo namban soba with crispy noodles. In either case, food here is as authentic and as amazing as the phở place down the street; I was slightly disappointed with the Bun Bo Hue here because it came out tangy and sweet instead of hot and ball-sweatingly-spicy like it should be; I’m also surprised to find that no Vietnamese restaurant in this area seems to serve Bun Bo Hue with Pork’s Blood. Somebody better up and do it, because I sure as hell am not driving 120 miles just so I can finally get some real Bun Bo Hue…

I recently moved to Augusta from Los Angeles and had a huge craving for Vietnamese Food – especially Phở! My boss told me about a couple Vietnamese restaurants in town – this being one of them. He said his son ate here a few times and said it was authentic, so I had to see for myself. Without a doubt, this place is AUTHENTICALLYDELICIOUS!!! The food is very well-seasoned with true Vietnamese flavors. Coming from Southern California, we are blessed to have a plethora of amazing Asian food in our backyard. I am happy to report that this restaurant would hold its own in So Cal! It is so good, I came back to eat here 3 times in 2 days! So far, I’ve had: Rice Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken: So far, my favorite dish there! The chicken was grilled perfectly and was so flavorful – you taste the savory marinade and the lemon grass. Very authentic! It’s part of their $ 4.99 Lunch and Dinner special menu! For that low price, you get an awesome portion of delicious food! Phở with Flank Steak and Meatball: The hallmark of Vietnamese cuisine – you can judge any Vietnamese restaurant by how well they make their Phở. Viet Royal does not disappoint – it is delicious! The broth is very savory and deeply flavorful, all the spices that you would expect from good Phở are present – and you can’t stop sipping it! The meat was very tender and delicious – I only wish that they put more meat in the bowl I received. I have not had a bad dish here! Well worth your time and money – especially because of their customer service. I was very impressed with it. I ordered Rice Vermicelli with Chicken my first time there, but I forgot to tell them that I am allergic to peanuts which are traditionally thrown on top of the Vermicelli dish. I apologized to my waitress for failing to mention that and she quickly took it back. The chef made me a completely new dish with new ingredients. I was very impressed and kept apologizing to the waitress who chuckled it off saying«It’s okay! Don’t worry about it. We don’t want you to die hahahaha». While that kind of customer service OUGHT to be the standard – sadly it isn’t. I left a Thai Restaurant located right next to Viet Royal after eating their horribly executed Pad Thai. They didn’t let me order anything else nor did they offer to comp me on the bad food. I felt like I was«robbed» because I totally didn’t get my money’s worth. Go eat here! You won’t regret it!

My parents told me about this new Vietnamese restaurant in Evans and I had to go check it out. It is located in that Publix Shopping plaza right next to the Evans movie theater. I just got the phở with brisket and beef ball if I remember correctly. It was rather tasty. The broth was just right, not super oily but still flavorful. You would be surprised how many phở places don’t get the broth right, which is the most important ingredient to me. The noodles were in a clump though, and I think they should have stirred that up first before serving. However, the portion size was just right, and it was only about $ 7 or so. The service was good. The waitress was very nice and attentive. There are weekly rotating specials here, so I’d suggest coming back often.

I really enjoyed the food here and have been more than happy the two times I have eaten there. I am very picky, and like authentic cuisines of all types. Viet Royal hits the mark with one minor exception: Vietnamese Egg Rolls. Finding a restaurant that makes them the authentic way, using rice paper, has become increasingly difficult. This is the traditional way, and is much tastier than using the Chinese wheat egg roll skins. I wish they would switch.(Phở Bac makes the same mistake too.)

Last 2 weeks, we have eaten here 6 times. Yes, 6 times(2 take outs). I really like this place. I’m Vietnamese, so I do enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Just like Phở Bac across the street, the owners and chef/cooks are Vietnamese. I guarantee for the price, you cannot get real tasty food with beautiful presentation at these prices. We love the appetizer salads — try the pineapple w/squid salad. It’s very unique & refreshing since it’s served in half of a fresh pineapple carved into a boat like container. The salt & pepper fried silky tofu is great for vegans or a light snack/appetizers. Be adventurous and try something on the menu you never tried before. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. It’s great to be in Evans and have(2) great choices of Vietnamese cuisine in Phở Bac and Viet Royal. The Viet Royal owners used to own Wasabi Express on Washington Rd. They currently own Sabi, a Japanese rest, in North Augusta. If you want a good bowl of Phở(beef noodle soup), go to Phở Bac. If you want a good bowl of Mi/Hu Tieu(egg/rice noodle soup), go to Viet Royal. If you want other Vietnamse foods, try both. Viet Royal also have Vietnamese crepes(they call them pancake at the rest) with pork & shrimp & bean sprouts, served with lettuce and fresh herbs & mixed fish sauce. The crêpe is huge, pan fried on the soft side — not crunchy like they make them in Cali.
