It’s a nice local store to have around. A couple of their items that you’d normally find at jewlels is a $ 1 – 2 more expensive, but it’s also nearby for local northwestern students for easy access so it might be worth the higher price. A lot smaller than jewels as well and they have a small restaurant right next to the grocery store in case you were hungry. A neat, small all in one grocery store all together.

My go to place for gyros. The meat is tender and very well prepared. Good value meal.

Great place to do your local grocery shopping. Ask for Tom or Kosta the owners if you need anything. Great family run business for over 40 years.

Owned by the same folks who run D&D Dogs, and with a similarly disappointing lack of focus on bugbears and beholders, this is nonetheless a pretty good place to stop if you’re in Evanston and need to pick up a few groceries. Somewhere between a convenience store and a full-on supermarket, D&D has a decent deli, a pretty good liquor selection for such a small place, a focus on Greek foods in the takeaway case, and some decent fresh-cut flowers. It doesn’t compete with Mariano’s, but it’s not trying too — just a nice little neighborhood grocery with solid selection and prices.

This place is a staple for people living off-campus on the North side of town. They have a wide selection covering basically anything you could need(their deli sandwiches and prepared foods in the back corner are particularly good). Solid alcohol selection as well. If their prices weren’t quite so high and they stayed open a bit longer, it would be a 5-star spot.

This place has a lot considering it looks so small from the outside. Their produce is fresh too and you can get ready to eat meals here. The only drawback is that it closes kind of early.

I was in town to attend my son’s graduate recital at Northwestern University. I needed some reception food in a hurry! The people at D nd D put together beautiful platters of Boar’s Head meats and cheeses with crackers on short notice, and with a positive and gracious attitude! The price was reasonable for what it was, and far superior to the local grocery chain offering!

D & D’s looks amazing since its remodel. The store has friendly staff and they listen to their customers in terms of stock and supplies. Always helpful and a great place to shop.

D&Ds is a cute little market that always has what I am looking for. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and will take the time to help you find things. The store was recently reorganized, which confused me a bit, but the staff gladly helped me search the store to find everything on my grocery list. Fresh meats and fruits, always. Overall, an outstanding neighborhood market!

I was in D&D tonight and it looks great! They have opened it up, changed the lighting and, even though the footprint is the same, it feels huge, light, and bright. A year or so back they added hot and cold food to go, delicious and too often dinner at my house. They have Greek foods, roasted chickens, salads, spanakopita. The produce is fresher. This store just keeps getting better all the time!

Thanks to the employee who went out of her way yesterday to search for the lingonberry spread I was looking for, find it in the back, and rush the last few jars to us as we were checking out – all without being asked! Now that’s great customer service. Made my week. Thank you!

I went there no more than 3 times in a year because the products are overpriced and the selection they have dont worth it. To make it worse, at the last time I went I was super bad received by the cashier because I had no cash at that moment and was trying to pay using my debit card(More than that, the cashier was super arrogant!!). Dont want to have again the bad experience of buying there. They dont care about client satisfaction at all.

This neighborhood market has a surprisingly deep offering of foods, considering it looks like a convenience store from the outside. It’s certainly an adequate selection to avoid a long walk to a supermarket. The staff is friendly and helpful.

This is the perfect neighborhood store. I’ve never stumped them, whether I’ve run out of pine nuts or batteries or need a nice bottle of wine, they have it. They’re super friendly. They’ve let me pay later when I’ve forgotten my wallet and have started stocking the wine that I mentioned liking. I’m so glad this is in my neighborhood.

The first and only time I called the health dept. The owner/manager person didnt wear gloves when slicing meats and touched every since piece. NO washed hands, NO gloves. ew. When pointed out he said he was rushed and didnt think. I also noticed flies and they dont cover many foods on top of that deli counter. I hope they take more precautions to keep us from getting sick. Food safety is important.

Do not let this store’s size fool you into thinking they don’t have what you need. The meats and poultry are fresh and reasonably priced. The produce isn’t too bad – could be better– sometimes you can get some fresh vegetables. They have a lot of international products and canned goods that you can’t really find elsewhere. Whenever I need an obscure item, I’m always sure D&D’s will have it. I would still recommend you do weekly grocery shopping at a bigger store because the prices here are a little higher than say Dominic’s or Jewel. Otherwise, this is a great little place that’s always stocked with everything you need!

These guys are great. Small mom and pop grocery store with a surprising variety of tasty international goods. I’m guessing I have the international grad student population around Noyes to thank for that. Thanks guys! Random fact: I also haven’t seen as many choices for peanut butter and it’s alternatives in any store smaller than a Trader Joe’s. The deli’s got a wide selection and everything’s really well priced. Waaay better than Jewel or Dominic’s. Their produce(which I get multiple times a week) is also particularly good. If I lived in this area, it wouldn’t quite be my one stop shop for all groceries but it’s pretty darn close.

Used to live across the street from here and it was amazing to have it nearby when we ran out of something or suddenly needed something. They carry most of anything I’ve forgotten to buy on a real shopping trip, and there’s at least a brand name and generic centrella for many pantry staples. Around $ 1 for a loaf of centralla bread, cheap. I wouldn’t really do my weekly shopping here though. There’s a tiny selection of fruits and produce and it’s not super fresh. Nor would I buy meat here ever again. Bought some beef roast and kept it in the fridge for about 2 hours before I was going to make it, and it grayed and smelled awful. 2 hours! Who knows if it was already bad by the time they were selling it. FYI — they Belly, in case you didn’t notice the iPad hidden below the big register monitor.

This is a wonderful neighborhood place. The staff is great and so are the people who shop there. It beats going to the large stores when you don’t need lots of stuff. Their Greek Chicken and potatoes, deli, meats, etc are the best. They have inexpensive wines and overall their prices aren’t bad. Almost forgot the reasonable and beautiful flowers selection. Try it and you won’t be disappointed. Carol B.

I like this little market for carrying all the essentials, and it’s priced pretty reasonably. However, their produce(both fruits and veggies) is terrible. Nearly all of the fruit I buy from here has gone bad. I bought a pineapple and it was so ripe that nearly half of it was inedible. Also bought a bag of oranges and they were not very fresh, as many of them were dried out. Avoid the discounted produce especially — there’s a reason they’re discounted, most of it is because it’s past the sell by date. I do like them for their deli section, and most of the other stuff costs about the same as non-discounted items at Jewel, and is a tad cheaper than Whole Foods(granted, the stuff isn’t the same quality). I live on Ridge and Noyes and I cook a bunch of food, so it’s nice to have a little market that’s a minute away to stop by when I’m missing an ingredient, but I can’t depend on this place for carrying fresh ingredients.
