Durfee Orthodontics

Dr. Durfee has taken care of both my children’s teeth for the past two years and we couldn’t be happier! Dr Durfee takes a very personalized approach to each of her patients. My son needed extensive intervention involving both our dentist and Dr Durfee. She collaborated flawlessly with our dentist to make sure all of our sons dental needs were addressed and that his orthodontics had the optimal chance of success. Our daughter has fewer dental issues and as a result Dr. Durfee has taken a different approach to allow for the best results with more limited intervention. I have every confidence that my children’s teeth will be beautiful and healthy at the end of their time with Dr Durfee… and for many years to come!

I agree with the other reviews here. I saw dr. Durfee for 7 years as a kid. I’m 22 now, and my bottom teeth have moved and are misaligned. All of my friends have a small wire on the back of their bottom teeth that was put there as a kid by their ortho to keep their teeth straight indefinitely. I was never offered this by Dr. Durfee. She also has an attitude.

The previous reviewer is right on point when she (or he) said the office is state of the art but Dr. Durfee’s bedside manner could use an overhaul. Dr. Durfee is knowledgeable but has zero social skills. Most of the staff is unpleasant. They have a sign by the refreshments that says «for adults only». Besides being just plain rude, it’s ironic considering that kids are the bread and butter of that practice. Sadly, we are stuck with her for at least another year since my daughter is in the process of having her teeth straightened. I hate that I didn’t follow my gut instinct to look elsewhere before we decided to use Dr. Durfee for the braces. My other daughter will probably need braces but we will definitely go elsewhere.

Went to Dr. Durfee upon the suggestion of my dentist b/​c I knew I needed braces as an adult. I only needed alignment on the bottom, as I wear a top retainer every night. I did my research and knew that with my bruxism, Invisalign was not the right choice for me. Traditional braces would cost about ½ as much, take ½ the time of Invisalign and would not interefere with my bruxism mouthguard. So I made an appointment, paid the intial exam fee and explained my situation. I even brought my guard to show Dr. Durfee and discussed my concerns about Invisalign with my situation. She seemed disinterested in my concerns and curtly informed me that she does not put adults in traditional braces. Instead, I was given a breakdown of the costs of Invisalign and told it would take about 2 years… and did I want to make the first payment on the Invisalign today? What?
I found an orthodontist in Evanston who LISTENS. If you’re an adult (like me), wore braces as a kid and needed them again (like me) and aren’t interested in spending $ 2000+ on Invisalign, go see Dr. Urban instead. You’ll be glad you did.
