Great great place! Vera is super nice and very seasoned at what she’s doing. In less than 20 mins, I got a neat and clean haircut!

Let me just say that this place looks just like a place where I got my haircut when I was 3. There are no frills, no fancy shampoo smells, or Enya playing over the Kenwood Soundsystem. It was wonderful. It was a barber shop. My barber’s name was Kev’n — no joke. He was great. His car says Kev’n «specializing n blackhair care», but he took care of my whiteboy, straight hair very well, to the point that it was the first time in 3 years that I didn’t walk out of a place and hate my cut. Also I was in and out in about 20 minutes and had plenty of time to kill before going back to work. Thanks Kev’n I will give your name to all my co-​workers, especially the ones that need blackhair care!

I get my eyebrows threaded by Summer! She’s amazing! The price ($ 7) is WONDERFUL and no appt is necessary! Hanna is nice, but her work is hit or miss.
The entire «salon» should be gutted from the inside to create a more modern appearance… or at least a space that looks less like a health code violation.

I got my hair curled here for $ 21. ($ 15 + $ 6 tip)
It was for a wedding and I was very pleased with it. I was a bit apprehensive because of the low cost and the very not-​so-​fancy décor. However, upon inquiry that they do in fact do women’s hair, I decided to give it a try.
My other option was a salon down the block that was going to charge me $ 45. I’d rather save my money. Besides, if it went horrible wrong, I could always just wash my hair before the wedding.
My hair is super silky and super straight. However, it stayed curled thru out the night.

Noël is fantastic, and the other barbers here are great too. I didn’t realize how great these guys were at their job until I had to go somewhere else while out of town. All I need is for someone to cut my hair to a manageable length, hide the cowlicks, and be nice, and Fountain Square does a great job of not just the cutting, but also giving advice on what kind of cut I should have.

Ever since I got my first hair cut here, I keep coming back. Noël does a fantastic job without my having to instruct him, unlike any stylist i’ve had at most of the «discount» hair places around town. I even wait to come back from breaks to get my haircut done by Noël.
They can be a bit gruff/​disconcerting when you first walk in, but don’t doubt the quality of the haircut you’ll get here.

I can’t believe nobody has written a review for Summer. Summer does a SPECTACULAR job threading my eyebrows — and it’s only $ 7! I’ve gotten my eyebrows done at a couple of other places around Evanston, and even though the prices are comparable, I’ve come to the conclusion that I do not trust any other person to do my eyebrows other than Summer. Not even her own cousin that works there too. Summer is absolutely amazing.
The only thing that sucks is that she’s pregnant now so half of the time I go in there, she’s either not there or getting a check-​up. I usually just drop in, though, so perhaps I should start making appointments.
