Greek Fire Grill

I’ve been here about 5 times now and each time the food is good and the service is good. It’s a quick simple stop for lunch, the place is nothing fancy but it’s clean and the staff is nice.
I’m admittedly guilty of always ordering off menu or asking for substitutions and they are always great and accommodating about it.

I have been waiting two hours for my food to be delivered. I’m not sure it is even going to arrive as the restaurant closed 20 minutes ago. Do yourself a favor. Order carry out from Cross Rhodes.

The worse service possible, was initially told the delivery wait was 45 minutes… waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes for the food to arrive and I was only about 7 blocks away. Once I received the food, it was very cold, called the establishment for a refund, was told they would have to retrieve the items… Which they never showed up, was told the manger would contact me the next day, and it’s has been over 3 months and I have still not been contacted or refunded. Will NEVER WASTE MY MONEY HERE AGAIN !!!

They have one the best chicken souvlaki I have ever tasted. Super juicy and everything tastes fresh. I’m glad they lowered their price too. It was $ 7.99 just for a chicken pita beforw and now it’s $ 5.99. I will keep coming back to this place.

I really like this place. I have a thing for neighborhood joints, the hole-​in-​the-​wall type of places, and this is definitely one of them. The food is Great Wraps-​esque but better quality and bigger portions. Whenever I go, I’m the only one in the restaurant, which worries me because I wouldn’t want this place to go! I usually get the burgers or gyros, and the meat is always fresh and really well grilled. Out of all the options Evanston has to offer, most people don’t choose Greek Fire Grill, but I like the food and the idea of supporting the smaller businesses, so I’m a loyal customer!

Pissed. I ordered a veggie dog but instead received a veggie burger on a hot dog bun. I stopped eating at this place about 2 years ago due to poor customer service but decided to give them another try because they are the only restaurant that delivers veggie dogs. Correct they «were» the only restaurant. I could have ordered a chicago style veggie hamburger for multiple places with patties that actually taste good. Save your $ 5. I had to throw the flavorless rice heavy veggie burger away.

Has constantly disappointed.
This store, wow. They continually disappoint my coworkers and I. When you are in the mood for a burger and fries or a gyro and fries it’s always nice to have somewhere close you can go. We have been here about 7 – 8 times over the course of the year and it seems to get worse and worse! I don’t know if it’s the terrible service (seriously guys, they created the ticket system for a reason) or the speed at which your food comes out, or if it’s just the randomness of the pricing.
The food here is lackluster on a good day, you don’t enjoy it, but you don’t hate it. All sandwiches and entrée items could stand to be lowered by $.50−1.00. Also, learn how to fry French fries. It’s literally the easiest concept in cooking, from the freezer to the fryer, set a timer, you’re done. Set a timer because you clearly don’t and my fries constantly come out looking like soggy, sad little potato spears. I wish I could say that this is an uncommon experience, but it’s not at all.
We kept giving this place a shot, but honestly we can’t anymore. We will gladly walk down to five guys or another chain to receive decent food for what we pay for. I can’t keep wasting $ 8 on lunch for a gyro and fries to be put off by your unappetizing and sloppy food. This is simple food that comes straight from the freezer, it’s not fooling anyone. Why does it take 10 – 15 minutes to get it into a bag, to then discover that your polish sausage is actually a chicken Caesar wrap? Why are you constantly screwing up orders? Get it together.

The food was very good and very well priced. I ordered a gyro and rice and was blown away by the amount of food I got for the money. The space felt a bit cramped, but otherwise the food was good. I would come back for sure.

Small Greek joint that serves delicious and fresh souvlaki and gyros sandwiches. Would definitely come back here :-)

Pretty good chicken pita. My family and I came in for dinner the other night and ordered in. My boyfriend was very displeased by the amount of lamb that was on his gyro. I believe he counted maybe 6 – 8 strips. Let’s just say he finished in 5 bites. The fries were mediocre and they didn’t even fill the entire bag. Fortunately for me, I only ordered the chicken pita that was very tasty. I will admit that they were stingy with the chicken. My son loved his burger. He compared it to Red Robin-​which is great since RR is his fave restaurant. Not sure if I’ll be back because I hear that Cross Rhodes is better.

Matt made a «custom job» tonight and let me tell you it was amazing. I don’t know how he does it but he does it well everytime. Picture an Italian beef, dipped and somehow on garlic bread. Just when you thought the bread had reached it’s saturation point, the gardinera came flowing out. Do you deserve greek fire grill? You do!

Areas of Needed Improvement:
This is the third time in 3 months where my order is incorrect. Very frustrating given the amount of time it takes them to prepare a meal. I can deal with the wait (which seems odd given that the restaurant is always empty when I visit and that there are at least two people in the kitchen) — but, the wrong order — AGAIN! — is a challenge for me. It just shouldn’t be so hard.
Their fries used to be better — they are consistently undercooked.
While eating there today, the cook/​counter man dragged out a mop and a bucket and started cleaning the floors! Arrghh! Seriously? This isn’t gourmet food, I get it — but, the scent of bleach wafting in their small dining area while I’m eating my meal was distasteful at best.
My expectations from a grill like this are minimal. However, I’ll be hard pressed to dine there in the future — too many other Evanston options.

It’s never crowded here and it’s opened late — both huge bonuses for a college student. I came here with a friend on a whim after class to try their Chicago dog and was pleasantly surprised. While it’s probably not the best Chicago dog around, I thought it was pretty good and I’m willing to try many of the other things on their reasonably priced menu. Looking forward to a return visit sometime soon!

Stumbled on Greek Fire Grill while walking around Evanston today. Small place, but very quick. Only a few employees while I was there, but they cook to order and food came out hot. I got the Chicken Gyro with a side of pita and humus. You get a decent amount of food for the price and it’s fairly price. They have a water pitcher out for free water.
Good service, good location would come back if I lived in Chicago

Its cheap, its nice and greasy, and it basically has the delivery gyro market locked down in Evanston. You will get what you are looking for here, and they are open fairly late. Nothing here will blow your mind although the italian beef was better than expected.
Overall for the price, when im craving a gyro or some falafel and cant bring myself to drive to Pita Inn, im perfectly happy to Grubhub up some Greek Fire Grill.

This is one of my favorite places in downtown Evanston to grab a quick lunch or dinner. It’s one of the more affordable restaurants in the area and they give you some hearty helpings.
My personal favorite is the gyro feta burger. For about $ 6 you get a giant burger with gyro meat, feta cheese, tomato, and romaine lettuce.

This is a good place for a Chicago Dog, which is pretty much indistinguishable from all the other Chicago Dogs in town. One day I made the several mile round trip walk to the highly rated Mustard’s Last Stand, and couldn’t tell the difference, so now I just stick with (what is now called) Greek Fire Grill.
They have a fairly wide variety of foods, and burgers and greek specialties are also popular, although they are rarely busy.

Good service and convenient location. The falafel was a bit large, so it was mushy and cool in the center. It could have used more parsley, as well. While fresh, it didn’t seem to be made by someone who specialized in falafel — more like something I would make at home.
The hot dogs and gyros I have had in the past were good, though. This place seems fine, but not great.

I love the food here. I’ve had a hot dog, their italian sausage, and their chop salad with Greek dressing (might be called something else). The salad was AMAZING. The bread they have for the sausage is unbelievable.
Really friendly service and the turn around for your food is quick too.
