Food was delicious, quantity was sufficient for 2 ppl. Because it was a thursday night… drinks were half off. Will definitely do it again.

typical nepalese/indian food, very fragrant and full of spices we started off with the mango lassi and masala tea, the mango lassi is very rich with a hint of yogurt, the masala tea is very authentic with lots of herb and spices, warmed us up in this cold chicago weather we ordered the veggie momo as the starter, it looks like Chinese dumplings but it is steamed and chilled with traditional spices in it, it tastes quite good for the main dishes, we got a few veggie curries to go with our bread basket, the naan and kulcha are awesome, especially the onion one for the curry, we really liked the eggplant one

Today was my first time trying the lunch buffet. I’ve been for dinner a few times, but have found that the dishes are overpriced for what they are. So I was really excited to finally try the lunch buffet for only $ 10.95(no Wildcard discount for lunch). I was honestly not super impressed. The salad bar was just iceberg lettuce, green pepper, tomatoes, cucumbers in separate bowls. The saag paneer, chicken tandoori, pakora, curry, etc. were all good but nothing special. The textures and flavors all started to blend in with each other after a few bites and it got boring real quick. Also, nothing was spicy!!! This is unavoidable for a buffet, but still a big turn off for me. The price point is great for the amount and variety of food you get, but I would choose Mumbai Grill for lunch for slightly cheaper and tastier dishes!

Is typical Nepali restaurant, with good food. The staff is super nice and the downstairs private room is perfect to host a Tibetan teacher after a weekend of dharma teachings. Is a little restaurant in Evanston, just in front of the public library parking lot that charges 2 dollars per hour. We like it because we wanted a nice vegetarian friendly restaurant, I will say that for the lunch buffet they could have more choices, however for Evanston I will agree is on of my favorite places.

We’ve ordered from Mt. Everest a few times now, so a review is due, right? I love just about any Indian food, so even before our first order, I knew I’d be a fan. :) And we’ve ordered several times since. The food isn’t amazing/excellent/out of this world(personally, I think a lot of the dishes need more spice), especially compared to our favorite Indian place back home, but it is pretty darn good. Downsides are that dinner can get a little pricey and delivery times can take up to an hour and a half, so you have to plan ahead!

Came in for the lunch buffet… while it’s an interesting opportunity to try some new dishes, they keep them very mild to accommodate more people. I like spice in my food. Good service and nice décor. Maybe worth checking out the a la carte menu.

Solid lunch buffet at a reasonable price. Nothing was amazing but a decent variety and everything was pretty tasty.

Bland curries laden with cream. The waiter never asked about a spice level, how easy would that be? When I asked for chilli naan to spice things up, they put bits of bland green pepper in it. Nothing stands out, very run of the mill. Pushing it to call this an Indian restaurant. Bottom line: Go for the lunch buffet, dinner is too pricey for what you get. And if you want authentic flavor or spice, try another place.

5-stars for their lunch buffet! $ 10.95 on weekdays and $ 11.95 on weekends. Basically, what this means should mean to you is — unlimited chicken tandoori. I mean, that’s all we need in life right? They have a salad bar, deep fried vegetables, rice, around 8 seasonal dishes, and 2 desserts to choose from. Also, includes naan on the table. Very good deal! Service is always on point. Water refills had never been a problem for me here given the small cups for water and the amount of sodium I’m getting the buffet.

I always walked past this place and thought I would give it a shot, and I’m so glad I did!!! This place is great! Service was wonderful! They gave us a complimentary appetizer and a plate of rice with our entrée! Very attentive staff. Food was delicious! Can’t beat a byob either! The garlic naan is AMAZING! As well as the chicken tikka masala. Highly recommend restaurant, will be back for sure!

THISISPROBABLYMYFAVORITEPLACEINEVANSTONSOFAR I came here for lunch buffet($ 10.95 per person!!) and they have so many options! They have lamb curry, chicken curry, spinach mixed with cubed cheese thingy, naan, chicken tandoori, and so many more I don’t remember!(sorry for the diction) Everything tasted so good here(besides the naan, it could be thinner and more crispy) and the server was really nice.

Amazing. I’ve had the Mutter Paneer twice and it is probably one of the best dishes I’ve ever consumed in life. Friendly staff and a diverse menu. Great portions and full of flavor. Also great wine specials! This is not your place if your looking for cheap cuisine, but overall prices are affordable!

The food here is delicious. Chicken Makhani is amazing, the naan is great too. Service at dinner is quite good, and the buffet is a great deal at lunchtime. Definitely recommend Mount Everest.

Love this place– food, atmosphere, location, and service. Made me learn to like(almost love) Indian food. Didn’t have a favorable opinion about Indian food until my boyfriend brought me here and introduced me to this place. Would love to go again.

Only been here for the lunch buffet, it’s a very solid buffet for the price. Matter of fact, it’s the only place I go for the buffet in the Evanston area. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The buffet generally consists of a salad bar, 3 – 4 veggie selections, 2 – 3 meat selections, 1 – 2 things of dessert. They have curry goat on buffet is one of my favorite. The items on the buffet don’t change often which would be a good thing if you know exactly what you’re craving. Naan is served separately to your table. Overall the food tastes great. If they had the buffet in the back and basically just serve me a plate as if it were ordered food, i’d still be ok. It can get crowded during lunch hours. Otherwise, really no negative points.

We were immediately greeted and shown to a table when we came in on a Monday evening. We received complimentary papad with sweet and spicy chutneys. We ordered the Garlic Naan with Paneer Makhani and sweet Lassi. Everything was good! And so was the ambiance! There was melodious flute music on, and vibrant paintings on the walls. As we had attempted to get hold of our server, another had noticed us and asked if he could help with something. He was happy to let our server know that we wanted another order of garlic naan. We were very full to even consider the dessert menu our server offered us. If you’re in Evanston and you’re craving Indian or Nepali food made well, this place is for you!

I’ve only been to Mt. Everest for the lunch buffet, which is more than amazing. At $ 10.95 on weekdays and $ 11.95 on weekends, the lunch buffet is a pretty good deal considering you get to stuff your face with as much Indian and Nepalese food as you want. To be honest, everything I’ve tried here during the lunch buffet has been delicious, although my absolute favorite is the chicken makhani(which I always make sure to get an entire separate plate of). Mt. Everest offers a very wide variety of food, including chicken tandoori, papadum, and if you’re lucky, goat biryani! Once you return to your table with a heaping plate of curry and basmati rice, there will be a piping hot basket of garlic naan waiting for you. I’m getting extremely hungry writing this review, so I’ll wrap it up — if you’re a fan of Indian and/or Nepalese cuisine, the lunch buffet here will not disappoint you. I have yet to come here for dinner, but I imagine it will be just as good!

Creditable lunch buffet: clearly an asset to the Evanston university and business communities, as evidenced by the crowds that pack in here during the noon to 1:30pm time frame. For some reason it took me umpteen years to try the lunch buffet even though I’ve enjoyed dinner twice before. But if I worked in Evanston this would definitely be in heavy rotation. The selection of dishes is rather small, but when everything is tasty, I don’t mind the lack of variety so much. Vegetarians are well served here; in fact, I counted only four meat dishes, three chicken and one goat. I really did enjoy everything, but my favorite was the chicken makhani. However, you can’t go wrong with a single thing on the buffet.

Solid lunch buffet. Inviting interior. Competent, cordial service. We were served warm naan and waters the minute we were seated and they replenished both as needed. My mango lassi was pretty good. The buffet area was clean and well presented. Selection seems comparable to other Indian restaurants I’ve been to for lunch. Food was flavorful and delicious. I have really been craving Indian food, so I was happy to find a good place during our travels. I’d come back here if in the area and left ridiculously stuffed(buffets and I have a complicated relationship!).

Tried the lunch buffet today and was pleasantly surprised. I had been slightly nervous because I had heard some negative things about Mt. Everest, but there was a large variety of food and it all seemed fresh. There is a small salad bar with the usual things(tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, etc) which I think I appreciated more because I wasn’t expecting it. There were about 4 chicken choices, 1 goat meat dish, and about 2 – 3 vegetarian options as well as 2 desserts(rice pudding, carrot purée). We also received a basket of naan at our table. I tried a little bit of everything, and I enjoyed everything that I tried. The tandoori chicken in particular was great: super soft and the meat fell off the bone. The«chef’s choice» vegetarian option(mushrooms in sauce) was great as well. Nothing was too heavy or too greasy, and everything was just flavorful enough, nothing too salty. Service was good as well; our waiter must have come back to fill our water at least 4 times. I had a great first experience and will definitely come back in the future!

I have visited the restaurant a couple of times so a review is due. The restaurant serves both Indian and Nepali cuisine. I have visited both times with a big group of friends and have been really grateful that we made reservations for dinner. This place can be especially busy during the weekend and they do a good job saving table for reservations. What’s good? Food Food is pretty solid here. The momo’s(Nepali version of dumplings) are just delicious. I also like the papadam they serve with chutney before meal arrives. We shared vegetable biriyani, baigan bartha, navaratan korma and malai kofta as entrees with naan and rice. Vegetable biryani was delicious and curries were rich and delectable. What’s not so good? Service The service can be a bit slow. Once we finished our meal and asked for boxes, it took the server 20 mins to give us the bill and another 20 mins(When a fellow diner waved!) to take our cards. We were there on a busy night but it’s a just too long to wait. Last but not the least is price. I personally feel that this is more on the expensive side compared to other Indian restaurants in the neighboring towns. I would not complain so much if the service was top notch but unfortunately it isn’t. Bottom line — it’s worth going for the food but consider making reservations before to avoid the wait.
