I hosted a work event here a couple months ago for my company and it was an absolute pleasure, I believe I collaborated with Jean, Sip’s Event Coordinator. Jean was a pleasure to work with and made sure we’d have many options to choose from for the wines and they types of flights we wanted. The event was very affordable and cozy. The only caveat was they they don’t provide any food, that has to be brought in, going forward I would like to see an option where they could provide some food even if its at an extra charge. Our caterer was late to the event due to traffic(its on Sherman, a very busy street) and needless to say the food was in high demand as the wine kept flowing. Also I’d like for there to be a bit more seating options maybe remove some of the wine display center pieces for an event or just limit them to shelves and the register counter. Aside from that, I definitely look forward to returning!

I’ve been to Sips in the past and thought it was a cute store with a great wine selection. I went with a friend to share a bottle of wine(about a month ago) and we were being rushed to finish because the store closes at 8. I didn’t like that but decided to give the store another chance. OHMYGOSH! The manager was absolutely RUDE! We purchased a bottle around 6:30 sat and finished by 7:30. We told her we wanted to purchase another knowing that they close at 8pm. At 7:52 she began rushing us to leave. Her first comment was«it’s Friday night and I’ve got somewhere to be» and I’m thinking how is that my problem. Her second comment was«I live in Arlington Heights I need to get home». Unbelievable as it wasn’t even 8pm yet. I work in the service industry /retail and I know what it’s like to want to get out at closing time, but I would NEVER tell a client you need to go because it’s Friday and I live far and have somewhere to be. I am not exaggerating. We said no problem do you have the clear sealable bag so we can take the half finished bottle with us? She replied that they didn’t have that bag like most places do and that we’d have to come back on another day to finish it. Are you kidding me? It’s literally 8 at this time. We had to gulp our glasses of wine and leave the half finished bottle. When we got the other bottle at 7:30 she should’ve told us this and we would’ve left knowing we couldn’t finish a whole bottle in 30 minutes. Again, I am in the service /retail industry and I would never treat a customer this way. I decided not to purchase the six for $ 60 to take home at this point. I will never go back here again and will spend my $$$ where it’s wanted.

I stopped here on Pi Day for the three bottles for $ 14.15 deal. I ended up passing one of the bottles on to a friend(who said it was delicious), and I loved both bottles that I kept. I was initially a little wary of the deal, which seemed too good to be true, but the wines were incredible, and I will definitely be back!

My favorite wine comes from Sips! Absolutely ADORE this place. Their recommendations are top notch and I have never been steered wrong. I was so happy when they did not pack up and leave when WineStyles went away!

Love Sips on Sherman! We’ve been wine club members for a few years(since it was a wine styles) and really like the personal service in the shop. Not being very knowledgeable about wines it’s a huge help to be able to come in and ask questions about food pairings and such and get answers we can understand. Their recommendations have been spot-on and we love shopping the 6 for $ 60 table!
