Came here with some co-workers on a Friday for lunch. The restaurant is a massive spice near the Davis metra stop and wasn’t very busy around 12 pm. Service was very slow throughout our meal, which is the basis for my 3 star review. They do have a very affordable lunch special, which gives you smaller portions of several appetizers with an entrée plus rice for $ 8 – 9. Everyone’s food was just okay. I honestly forget what I ordered… it just wasn’t that memorable. The wide noodles were the best part. I had to track our server down way at the front of the restaurant to pay our group’s bill because she hadn’t checked back in in so long… Food is fine if you’re hungry for Thai, just don’t be in a rush. Very affordable though.

«aww sookdee sookdee now.» Went here for a group dinner and the spot certainly compliments a large gathering. It’s spacious and accommodating. Everything was served banquet style which saved the hassle of ordering and made it efficient time, it also allowed the staff to showcase what they felt was their best and most accessible dishes to diverse palates. I enjoyed the zesty crunchy mixed salad, sticky rice, and tea. They do have a limited wine and beer list. I always feel in Asian or Asian fusion places BYOB is a best bet since I don’t care for those wines and beers taste wise and its more economic. One surprise to me traveling is how much BYOB is a Chicago construction. It is so common place and taken for granted here and considered abnormal on the west coast cities or country. I recommend sookdee! Ok for you, ok for mee.

I am giving this two stars due to the service. This was the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. No one approached us after being seated for about 15 minutes(I did check the clock), not even a hello or I’ll be right there… and it was NOT busy. The appetizer was lukewarm when they brought it, and the main food followed in less than two minutes… they took the main dishes back tot he kitchen to presumably keep them warm… But they never came back with them. We had to flag someone down and ask, and the food was lukewarm again, and they didn’t bring any extra plates as asked or ever come back to the table again until we finished eating. The servers were all standing around in front of us stocking plates and rolling silverware, yet they never looked over at the tables or came to check, and they were having fairly loud conversations between themselves the whole time… across the room. The food was very tasty, despite having tons of bell peppers when not listed in the description – I’m mildly allergic, so I would have asked for the dishes without them if I had known. I asked the server what vegetables were in one of the dishes too, and they never listed bell peppers. I’m really surprised. I used to come to this place a lot some years ago, but the quality and service have gone way down.

We had a group of 8 for dinner and the restaurant was very accommodating. They didn’t rush us at all and created a nice comfortable dining experience for our group. Appetizers and entrees were both really good. They have a small wine list but I really enjoyed what I ordered. I will definitely be back.

I like to get my fix of thai iced tea here. The pad thai and pad see ewe is average, good because of cheap pricing. But their shrimp yellow curry is delicious and very flavorful. The downside is that you have to pay separately for the rice. The layout of the restaurant is very awkward(seems too big and too quiet), but seems like it would be nice for a big group.

I have been here several times and would have given a better rating if not for my least experience. I ordered the pumpkin curry, which I had had once before and enjoyed… However this time, the pumpkin was still hard and bitter. It left me with an odd burning sensation in my mouth. Absolutely gross! They are a bit on the expensive side as well. If you order here, I would recommend something safe… like fried rice!

My boyfriend and I, along with another friend, decided to have a bite before going to the movies around the corner. Arrived at 3:30 on a Sunday… and not a soul in the place.(An older party of 4 arrived just as we were leaving at about 4:15…otherwise just us and the tumbleweeds.) Even though it was early, that should have been our big red flag to go elsewhere. Service was poor… hostess never made eye contact with us, waitress delivered food and never saw her again. Food was mediocre, at best, compared to other Thai restaurants I’ve gone to. The worst part, though, came at about 2am the next morning when my bf and I simultaneously got violently sick… and ended up missing work on Monday/Tuesday. Never again. Highly un-recommended!

Food is good but service was horrible. They forgot one of the appetizers that we ordered and wouldn’t come to the table until we signalled and that was just for drinks. After food was served, did not see our server at all. Then when we were asked if there was anything else we needed we said we were fine but never asked about dessert. The worst part was when we split the bill, which had gratuity added, it was split wrong and one card overcharged and the other one way under charged. We asked to get it fixed and they said they couldn’t do that. Definitely not eating there again.

Good Thai place in Evanston. It’s large inside and while we went for lunch it was not so busy. Prices are pretty decent. Pad Thai was good even if a little on the sweet side. Crispy pork with chinese brocoli was good not so spicy but flavorful. Chang beer went down smoothly as always. I would say 3.5 stars, Would definitely try again when in the area. Service was decent and friendly.

I have dreams about the Pumpkin Curry with Chicken here… obsessed. Nice quiet restaurant, accommodated our large group on my first visit. Ordered delivery of the Pumpkin Curry a second time… wasn’t as good(and the online ordering system was a disaster), so I’d recommend going in to eat. Get it fresh!

I am definitely not a Thai food expert, but for what I ordered(spring roll and BBQ Pork Bamee– which is a noodle dish with BBQ pork on it) was delicious and in massive portion. The place itself is HUGE and it is extremely disappointing that it is often empty. This place definitely deserves more traffic, especially being located so close to Davis station. Prices are similar if not cheaper that other Thai or Chinese restaurants in this area. This place is definitely worth your visit and trust me… You won’t be waiting long to be seated!

I’ve come here for lunch countless times. The place is huge, but fairly empty during lunch. I’ve only tried about 4 different dishes here. All are pretty standard. I’ve probably orders the basil beef(I recommend getting the fried egg on top) over 25 times. It’s usually pretty good. I’m docking 1 star because out of the 25 times I’ve ordered the basil beef, I’ve been charged 4 different prices. I still don’t know how much it costs…

Loved it! The food is excellent, super flavorful and pretty good portions. The servers are very attentive and extremely nice. Thai music playing in the background and cutely decorated. The best part of this restaurant is the PRICE! Excellent Thai food for a very, very affordable price.

This place is huge(so bring your whole KWEST group if you’d like)!! Rent must be cheap or else I don’t know how they are making money. Food is reasonably priced and well prepared. They don’t have garlic stirfried morning glory, which I’m a little sad about. But other than that, all your standard dishes are there. Nothing super stands out, but it tastes fine and is not overly oily or salty, so overall a solid Evanston eating option.

The only reason I gave them two stars is because they got everything else in my order correct. It starts out simple. They forgot to include the noodles in my order for a pork BBQ noodle soup. I called the restaurant and explained there were no noodles in my bag and they said they would send some over in ten minutes or so. But then I receive a call back from them essentially saying I’m lying and that the driver said there were noodles in my bag. They then proceeded to tell me that I had the noodles and was lying to them. It wasn’t until I started to yell at the man over the phone that I had physically torn apart every bag they gave me that there was no white container and definitely no noodles. And then all I get is «ok ok» and then he hangs up. Granted, I should not have yelled. In fact, it wasn’t even yelling. It was me talking at a louder volume because the man on the phone kept insisting I was lying and«not looking hard enough». What a bs response from the management, you need to fix your customer service ASAP. Never ordering or eating here again.

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants near the NU campus because of the menu selection, food quality, and service. The restaurant is huge so it’s a great place for groups. Last weekend I came here with a large group and we tried the chicken satay, fried tofu, roti masamun, seur rong hai, tom yum soup, som tum papaya salad, pad see eiw, pad thai, pad kee mao, assorted stir fry vegetables, red curry, mango sticky rice, kha nom maw gang, and mango smoothie! I know that’s quite the list, and I was so happy trying all the food. Everything was so favorable and delicious, so I don’t think you could go wrong ordering anything from the menu. My favorites were the beef pad see eiw, seur rong hai, papaya salad and desserts. The service was also extremely fast. All the dishes came out right away and the staffs made sure we have new plates and utensil. The prices are also very reasonable. I would highly recommend trying this out place!

I have been eating here since I started NU, so(ugh) well over a decade, and it remains a favorite for sentimental reasons, but also because the food just holds up– it’s delicious! We ate here a ton in college, bc it’s CHEAP and good, but I was nervous that I wouldn’t still love it when I moved to Evanston from the city, where the bounty of thai food is endless. Happily, it is just as good as anything else. I have, over theyears, sampled a lot of the menu– all of the curries, all of the noodles, fried rice, and a few of the regular entrees. I love the crab rangoon, though I’m sure it’s a total american invention, I always get it. Entrée-wise, I tend to stick to noodles and curries, and they are just great. The panang curry is a favorite(though sometimes it comes with tofu AND vegetables, and sometimes just tofu, so if you want veggies with your protein, make sure to ask!) and all the noodles are gooooooooood. It’s total comfort food. The service is super fast, whether you eat in or do take out, and it still has looow prices. My favorite thai in evanston and most everywhere else.

This place is definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in the Evanston area. The food is really delicious, the service is quick and efficient and the place feels a bit like you’re back in time(in a good way). I think it might depend on what you order but everything I’ve eaten from here is really delicious and pretty authentic(even my Thai friends prefer here over the other Thai spots)! Definitely try the tom kha soup(coconut broth with lemongrass, onions, veggies and spicy peppers) which is super flavorful and fragrant, the som tum papaya salad(spciy papaya salad with peanuts) which is crunchy, sweet and spicy, and either the red curry with duck or the panang curry. I’ve also really liked their noodle dishes that I’ve ordered, including the pad kee mao and the pad thai woosen. The pad thai woosen reminded me of a dish I ate when I was traveling in Thailand — again a great mix of fresh, citrus notes with savory peanuts and egg contrasted with the spicy chilis. Don’t be afraid of the spice here — they are willing to accommodate you and if you need to cool off your tongue the thai iced tea is good. All of the dishes are decently sized given the price points of $ 7-$ 10 and are great to share. The restaurant staff is really accommodating about sharing and brings out sharing bowls and plates so everyone can try everything. And, if you have room for dessert, I really enjoy the mango sticky rice for dessert — perfectly sticky rice, not too sweet, and half of a ripe mango.

So I’ve actually been back a few times and had pleasant experiences with the lunch special and the larb gai(?). I thought that their Pad Thai was actually quite good when I ordered it there(except don’t go for the shrimp because they don’t give you very much at all). I also liked the veggies and side of fried rice they serve you with that. The larb gai(it’s the ground chicken salad) was actually super delicious and probably my favorite thing I’ve had there so far. It’s acidic and really yummy with the pieces of lettuce and perfectly portioned. If you’re looking for something new to try and will leave you feeling pretty healthy and energetic afterwards, I suggest this dish. Service is still a little sparse, but hey, I’m here for the food so it’s fine.

Delicious thai food. The restaurant is clean and homey and they have these cute seating where you can kind of cross leg sit on. The service is good and the food comes out fast. I like the appetizers like the shumai and gyoza. They have a nice extensive menu. There are soups, salads, entrees, noodles, and curry dishes. I love their curries. The food is not too heavy. I think the price is decent as well. Thai suk dee is also good with ordering out or for catering! Best comfort food :).

My favorite Thai restaurant near campus. On any occasion, this place seems perfect. The space here is huge and can accommodate parties of almost any size. Good variety of curries and Thai dishes to try here, ranging from pad thai to more authentic dishes. Came here yesterday and decided to get the pad see ew. The portion was just about right and I think they control the amount of sauce perfectly. The rice noodles were soft and chewy. I had a bit of the spring rolls and that was pretty interesting. It was covered with a sweet, tangy sauce and inside was filled with vegetables and veggie meat. I’ve tried the curry here before too and in my terms it was tasty and authentic. Each type of curry is slightly different, so I recommend trying all different types if you come with a larger party. Servers here are really nice. One of our orders came out really late and the manager gave us a discount after we pointed it out!

We had a work dinner here during a conference and they accommodated our huge group of ~30 really well. This was decent Thai food, a little below average, but it was probably the best deal near Northwestern considering we’re a non-profit on a tight budget! * Tofu Pad Thai — 3.5 stars pic: On the tart side, pretty authentic flavor. The tofu was nice and soft and evenly pan-fried on outside. The noodles were rather soft & started sticking together in clumps pretty quickly. * Chicken Fried Rice — 3 stars pic: Pretty good meat, small pieces that were on the tender side. This didn’t stand out too much flavor-wise though. * Beef & Veggies — 3 stars pic: Pretty good flavor to this, but the meat was hard and it was a very plain veggie mixture. The veggies were all cut into large chunks that made it less conducive for sharing. * Curry Vegetables — 3 stars pic: Great flavor with a nice kick of spiciness to it! But the curry itself was a little too watered-down, and while veggies were crisp, it wasn’t too great of a mixture/selection.
