DEFINITELY a place that’s about the beer but the food’s pretty decent. We had a few nice beers and a couple of sandwiches. We started with the giant Bavarian pretzel. It’s huge. Good service, good place. Francise? Chain? Seems OK to me.

Im visiting from out of town and WOB was completely packed, yet the bartender was able to get my friend’s and my order, drink, and check all in an incredible amount of time! So bravo– we had great bar service

When we decided to pay our tab and call it a night, the server harassed us for more tips. He claimed that the company did not pay him enough and he needed more. This after my girlfriend had to walk away from our table to flag down someone at the bar multiple times just to get a server to pay attention to us.

Invited a bunch of local friends here for one of my many birthday celebrations. Great food and a great selection of unique, craft beers. We sampled a bunch of appetizers and everything that we ordered was great! Fun, bar vibe. Great for groups to get a little louder and have fun while drinking!

I am not a fancy person… I don’t care about specialty beers… Coors Light is good for me. But I will say the staff was excellent and on their game, very helpful and passionate about what they do, and they keep the restaurant clean and in shape. Excellent place to stop by with some friends.

Let’s say you were in a business suit with several other people in suits, in a big conference room on the 30th floor of an office building. The big boss has told you you can’t leave until you have designed a mid-scale neighborhood bar. So you make a checklist: Lots of beer — check Menu of bar food — check Many TVs tuned to sports — check Bartenders who appear to have hustle — check Compliance with local and state regulations — check Reasonable prices — check etc etc etc. This is exactly how WOB feels — a corporate chain that is trying to be a nice local place. The beer was fine, and they do have a lot of it. The bartenders indeed had hustle and were objectively friendly, but it felt forced. The place was clean. The TVs were numerous to the point of being distracting and obtrusive. It just utterly lacks charisma. The clientele is a heavily Kellogg/other-Northwestern-graduate-student crowd, which brings its own vibe, and because they are a transient crowd, it cuts down on «regulars.» Some people like this. The place is fine. It’s not for me, but if you are in downtown Evanston and need to grab a couple of beers before moving along, I wouldn’t tell you no.

Awesome, rotating beer selection. And I don’t know my beer terminology, but the menu is easy to navigate because of how they separate them into categories. And I’ve found the staff pretty helpful if i can tell them what I’ve liked in the past. Nice staff Large bar Plenty of TVs Food is great too. GIANTPRETZEL. TATERTOTS. And i love their Steak Sandwich. Trivia night with Geeks Who Drink on Wednesday nights is fun, though the speakers make the music rounds a challenge Went to watch Elite 8 Syracuse vs Virginia and noticed that they keep the music playing instead of turning on the game.

This place is really awesome and very hip. It contains a huge assortment of beer and the place is laid out nicely. Went here with 4 of my good friends and we did Irish Bombs. After that I had a Dogfish Head 90 min IPA and it tasted like a sweet grapefruit. Spilled a bit but overall really fun and the waitress was pretty cool about it. I ordered the veggie and hummus wrap with chicken and tater tots for the table. Overall really good food and really good selection of beer.

Let me preface this review by saying I am not much of a beer drinker. I did find their cocktails to be very good though. I had the peach sangria and strawberry capricoso. Both were the right combination of sweet and tart. The black and tan onion rings and beer battered apple rings with caramel were also very tasty. Our waitress was very attentive, even with our very large group.

I’ve been coming here for three years now and never wrote a review. Here it is: The service staff has always been very friendly, from the first day i came in on, and knows what they are talking about and what to recommend, all you’ve got to do is give them a better idea than«I like beer». The food is exactly what it has to be, solid bar food. The beer selection is fantastic, the location is always clean, and management is always on top of things. 5 stars. Come in, enjoy yourself. It’s good beer, good food, and good company. Don’t make it so complicated, Unilocalers. Just learn to have fun without counting the each parsley leaf on your dinner.

My boyfriend and I came here during the day. There were only two other parties in there but we still had a good time! We came here because a friend gave us a gift card. We are big stout fans so we tried several. I do recommend having not your father’s root beer! 10% abv and you can only get that at the bars. As for the food, we ordered the tater tots, the sliders, pretzel, and Mac and cheese. The sliders were our favorite of the appetizers and the mac and cheese was our least favorite. It was really blah. And as tasty as the sliders are, I highly recommend you have a stout with them to enhance the flavor. We left very happy and full. You will have fun trying out all the beers. They even had one from Kenya!

They say they have more than 500 different beers over there. I’ve tried some local breweries products. They were good. Love that they have open patio outside, so it’s great to spend there time during summer time. Love their pretzels. Food is okay. 4⁄5. I’ll be back!

WOB sucks. I just gave it my last chance last week. Was there with a friend to grab beers and a bite before the NU vs MSU game and wanted to leave shortly after we arrived, but were on a time crunch! Bartenders don’t know anything –literally anything– about the beer list and are unapologetic about it. Getting water and silverware an epic quest in frustration. Constantly being ignored at the bar with empty drinks, blah blah blah. To top it off we tried the happy hour sliders and shrimp tacos — gross AND we both got really sick from them! Stay away.

Awesome place for a beer lover! I went to Unilocal event where we were served a variety of beers paired with food. The first course was a Weihenstephaner Original Munich Helles paired with a giant German Pretzel and Pimento Cheese Board. The pretzel had great texture — soft in the inside and served with a cheese sauce and mustard. The pimento cheese spread was topped with a bacon onion jam and served with garlic toast. It was creamy and delicious. Order this and you will not be disappointed! I enjoyed the pale lager that went with the pretzel and pimento cheese. It was light and refreshing. My favorite beer of the night. The second course was a Penrose Tripel paired with Southwest Skillet Cornbread. I liked that the beer with from Geneva and that serve local beers at WOB, but it was too carbonated for me. The cornbread was good, but I think it still needs some work. The texture wasn’t as cakey as I normally like and it was difficult to get it out of the skillet. I did like the arugula salad on top of the cornbread. The third course was a Sketchbook Frogtown ESB paried with Chimay Sliders. I thought the slider had good flavor and I especially enjoyed the Chimay Classique cheese that went with it. The fourth course was a Deschutes Chasin’ Freshies 2015 paired with a Gold Ale Beer Battered Shrimp Taco. I thought the taco was good — crunchy and had a nice kick, but not too spicy and the beer was my second favorite of the night. The fifth course was a Pig Minds Joe Daddy Imperial Coffee Stout. This drink is dangerous because the alcohol level is over 10% yet it doesn’t taste like there is any alcohol. It was very sweet and reminded me of root beer. I’m not much of a beer drinker so it was nice to try so many different kinds of beer. I’ll be back for more!

I was here for an event last night, and I’m literally just updating this review to inform you that there is something that you MUSTORDER: the pimento cheese board. It comes with the pimento cheese spread, bacon jam and garlic bread, and it is most excellent. Also great: the beer battered shrimp tacos, which are a great deal during happy hour.

You may not be a cicerone, but if you love, love, love beer then World of Beer is definitely a stop that’s worth your time. You’ll also be happy to know that World of Beer is also the home of some pretty smashing(yes, I said smashing) food like the beer battered shrimp tacos and the German pretzel. I’d finally gone to World of Beer and tried some of their food and beers — this place really does have some good food, which may or may not surprise you, that pairs extremely well with many or all of the beers that they have… why by the way adds up to about 550 varieties. Yes. 550 beers — 50 of which are on tap and 500 of which are in bottles. The draft beers are always rotating so you can most likely go at different times and there will be new beers on tap to try. The draft beers are definitely way, way cheaper than those in bottles whose price has been totally jacked up. There are several bottles that go for $ 20+ when you can find them anywhere else for half the cost. We were told at the event, however, that the beers were priced based somewhat upon the strength of the beer itself(if it’s a stronger beer, there was less received, which mean it costs more). Just be aware of this fact when you’re going to World of Beer. I absolutely encourage you to go, but you have to be mindful of what you’re ordering. Something else that’s pretty neat about World of Beer is that they truly promote their local breweries, oftentimes carrying many beers from around the area. This concept goes for all of the World of Beer locations so if you were to go to another location in another state chances are you’d have completely different options for beer. That’s definitely cool don’t ya think? One other aspect that’s very cool about World of Beer is that they have an Ipad with all of their beers listed — you can click on each listed beer and find out the ABV, the cost, the type of beer, its origin and what food it pairs well with. If you still don’t know what beer and food pairing you want to order you’re encouraged to ask your waiter who has to go through extensive training. You won’t be lead astray, that’s for sure, because everyone who works there pretty much has to be a certified beer junkie(my fiancé would be perfect for it!). I’d never been to World of Beer(what a travesty) but I’ll definitely be back now. I’d join the Loyalty Club, but it doesn’t seem to have as many perks as would be desirable. If you join the Loyalty Club you get 25% off of your order on Tuesday’s and you get prizes after accumulating so many points form trying all of their different beers they have to offer. If you drink a lot of beer, and I mean A LOT, then this Loyalty program may be good for you. You know what’s definitely good for you though? Getting your behind in here to enjoy some good olé beer and food in a great, relaxing atmosphere where you can cheer for your favorite sports team among all your other fellow good-timers.

If you’re a beer enthusiast, you must come here! If you’re not a beer enthusiast, you should still come here! They have over 500 beers and the food is delish! One thing that’s great about their menu is that they suggest beer pairings with the food! Perfect for those ppl who like to pair their food with drinks. They also have trivia night every Wednesday and the winner gets a gift card!

Looking to try a new beer? You certainly have the opportunity here with over 500 beers to choose from. It’s very fun to explore the menu and get recommendations that suit your palette. I occasionally like beers with a hint of banana, so our waiter recommended trying the Weltenburger Kloster Hefe-Weissbier Hell. It was tasty and nice to try a beer that I wouldn’t usually have the chance to order! They also have my go-to beer — Goose Island Matilda, so had to order that also!

Nice place to have a cold beer and watch some games. 50 beers on tap and tons of choices in the fridges. A limited number of food choices if you’re looking for a wide variety of food but enough selections for a small group of friends. I tried two food items. The German pretzel which was tasty, hearty, and came out fresh and hot. The artisan sausage board provided a nice variety of sausages — jalapeño cheddar, cracked black pepper, and hickory smoked. Smaller portion, but packed with flavor. Because of the wide selection of beer and convenient location, I’ll be back again to watch another game one of these days.

I decided to stop in for a cold one after a meeting with my small business CPA in the chase building next door. I’m not normally in Evanston, so I figured I’d give it a try. I walked in and decided to take a seat at the bar. The bears game was on numerous flat screen TVs that were mounted throughout the establishment. The management does check ID and nobody under 21 is allowed on the premises, so don’t bring the kiddos. The bartender was immediately attentive and asked what I usually drank. I usually order a light beer(Blue Moon), so she recommended an excellent Light beer from Germany. I had a small sample and decided to order the recommendation. I loved being able to sample the beer, before I committed to a whole mug of it. The beer mug was frosted and the beer was ice cold. What more could you ask for?! I decided to grab some grub, as after a beer or two you get pretty hungry. Keep in mind, the menu here is pretty small. They have appetizers such as beer batter onion rings and a GIANT German pretzel served with German mustard. However, my appetite was big, so I ordered the Reuben. Soon, the Reuben came out PIPING hot. Thin slices of juicy corned beef served on true marbled rye bread with kraut and a thousand island type spread. It was truly delicious. The rye held its crispy composure and never regressed to soggy. I decided to get loaded tots with my sandwich. The tots are crispy and topped with beer cheese sauce, bacon, green onions, jalapeños, and sour cream. Hands down the best tots I’ve had! I truly enjoyed myself and was amazed with the fact that they have over 500+ CRAFT beers! Some are bottled or canned. However, a great amount are served ice cold on tap. No swill served here. The service here was excellent and I can’t wait to come back! However, I do wish their menu was a little bit larger. I’m a person who likes a large selection. I feel if this place has such a large amount of beer choices, that they should have more menu options to match. If you’re looking for ice cold craft beers and German style fare, check this place out. You’ll love it!
