Briefly stopped by to look for some pet supplies. As soon as I answered I was met with an overwhelming odor. As I Peru’s the merchandise I noticed that there were several signs. All of them telling me not to touch this or open that. I understand why they have them, however, it certainly does not make a new customer feel very welcome. The staff did not seem to be very friendly, but in all fairness, it was about 15 minutes till closing time and I am sure that they we’re looking forward to getting off of work for the day. Overall, the entire experience did not leave me wanting to come back for more.

I recently went in for the first time and found it to be a good resource for what I needed! Hermit crabb supplies. They had a good selection of accessories, also a pretty nice selection of accessories for most other pets. The store is not very clean looking is reason for only three stars, also the man working in there seemed to be suspicious of people. It had kind of a bad smell also! I would definitely go back, because of the selection. But don’t go in expecting a very professional looking store. They did have a nice selection of pets available, birds, snakes, fish, frogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. The staff also did seem to know where things were located and were available to offer assistance! If you need harder to find pet supplies, I would definitely recommend this place!

Took my 11 year old niece to Harp’s to get advice about how to start a fish tank. I was immediately greeted upon entering and asked if i needed help finding anything. The sales girl spent an hour and a half walking us through the fish room and explaining which fish would be compatible and then showed us everything necessary to start and maintain our tank. When my niece pulled out a check list of things she had researched the sales girl didn’t bat an eye. She answered every question and helped her check off the items on her list. When we went to check out she even gave us a card with her name on it and told us to call if we needed help while setting the tank up or when we did our first water change. The store may need some improvements but i was pleasantly surprised at the amount of customer service we received.

I shop here because I must. It’s the only store within a 50 mile radius with what I need for my gecko that I brought over from Arizona. If I didn’t have to I really wouldn’t. The underage, eyeliner ridden, facial pierced employees are more interested in sitting on the counter and flirting with their co-workers than to waste their time with a customer like me who looks like Nemo after his mom was swallowed up by the shark, wandering aisles aimlessly looking for what I need. After I finally asked for what I needed I was shown to the correct area(of course my gecko heat lamp light would be in the middle of the fish section inside of a locked fish tank… silly me), I took a moment to browse the seemingly large store, which ended up being seemingly empty and visually disgustingly dirty. Last words? Last resort.

Needs a deep clean and fixture refresh. I haven’t purchased anything at(or even been inside) Harps for years but recently stopped by when in Evansville. Dirty, rusty, peeling, worn and smelly is how I would describe it now. It used to be classy and the top pet store in the area. I hate to say it, but it’s hard to trust that the animals have been cared for properly when their building looks so rough.
