Went here last night. There isn’t much to say about this place. It’s quaint. The staff was great. I got the pork rib plate which was better than these reviews suggest they are. A little heavy on the sauce if you ask me but they were tender. The beans and home style potato salad were solid. Overall, I’ve had much better BBQ in Memphis and Texas, but this place definitely is better than a 2-star review.

This is the absolute worst bbq place I have ever eaten in and I have eaten at non-chain bbq restaurants many times in at least 16 states. I assumed the dining room was almost completely empty due to the time of day but soon figured out the real reason. I grew up in Evansville and remember loving the food at Wolfs. They have done a complete 180. I had the Sunday buffet and agree with other viewers the food was terrible. I started with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. The first piece I tried was dry and rubbery with soggy skin. Finally, on the 3rd try, I hit a piece that was semi edible. A manager came over after I mentioned this to the server but seemed to care very little about the issue. The pulled pork was SWIMMING in sauce and cold, the mac n cheese was sticky and congealed with little taste, the vegetables had lost most of their true color and had a grayish hue to them and the slaw was so runny it flooded all the other food on the plate. When I went to pay I asked for the manager(I was shocked the buffet was $ 15.99 plus beverage) and this snotty young female manager said she was sorry I didn’t like the food but she ate it every day and there was nothing wrong with it. Then she added a snotty little comment about hoping I would try to start having a better day. She clearly does not have a firm grasp of the concept of customer service. It was a horrible experience and I gave it 1 star because I got a good parking space and my server was polite. Don’t waste your money… there are at least 3 other long standing bbq joints in the Evansville area and 2 in Henderson where you can get excellent bbq instead of junk.

I had takeout for lunch. I got a rib dinner. It came with 4 large ribs, 2 sides, pickle onion and 2 slices of rye bread. The ribs were large and meaty, not much fat. I got macaroni salad for the sides. Plenty of food to be lunch for 2 days.

My Mom & Dad loved this place but something has really changed. I kept wanting to ignore it and so I overlooked a bad meal here and there for sake of nostalgia and my parent’s fondness for Lynn(a GREAT waitress). But now, after having eaten 3 bad meals in a row(horrible brisket, soggy catfish and overcooked/over-sauced ribs, I can say with absolute confidence that this restaurant DESPERATELY needs to make some changes. What happened? I dunno! Poor food quality? New cooks? New Recipes? Cutting back on ingredients? They may be saving a penny but they’re throwing away the golden goose.(Not there there ever was goose on the menu but that won’t surprise me next as they pass off goose for chicken.) Here’ the final tell-tale sign that all is not well — It used to be packed at prime time eating time but no more — plenty of tables available, where would you like to sit?

Wolf’s used to be good — 10 – 15 years ago. Dad died, kids took over, not too much change, then down hill fast. I was in a few weeks ago on a nostalgic/second chance visit and it’s even worse than I remembered. Unlike the other reviewer, I love bbq and can’t think of many things better than all you can eat Q, but arrrggh. Buffet is old, dried out, or empty… and not really cheap on the bbq $ scale. Skip the disappointment; get a Fred Burger at Fred’s on Virginia(?) by Deaconess Hospital or a breaded tenderloin at the Hilltop or Hornet’s Nest. Lot’s of very good mom & pop restaurants in E’ville and Wolf’s isn’t anymore.(sauce is still primo tho, I get a gallon everytime I’m in town)

Imagine the hell I was in: Sunday afternoon at a Buffet Restaurant in Indiana. Better yet. .. it is a BBQ Buffet. Someone save me. Pork products as far as the eye can see.. . anything that may have been a vegetable at one point has now been boiled and coated in butter(with bacon added). Mashed potatoes were good, mac and cheese was good. Service was very nice for a buffet place — I believe they try to be the«upscale» buffet restaurant.
