My family and I rented from Jack (who by the way was AWESOME!!!) from 5 Star for the first time to attend the Sasquatch Festival at the Gorge. What an AMAZING trip. He walked us through our RV with us, and made sure we understood everything. He stated that most people had never driven a RV which put our anxiety at bay. Jack gave us his cell phone number to ensure that if we did have any issues, he was merely a phone call away. Highly recommended! Well done!

jack was great to work with — diligent and willing to answer any questions. we rented an RV for spring break this year — everything went smoothly and as planned! jack gave me his cell # in case we had any problems and even texted me a couple of days in to see if all was well. we are already planning on another trip next year!

We put our RV on consignment with Five Star in August and they told us they thought they could sell it in 90 days or less even though we were getting close to the end of the season.
They sold it in about 60 days, even had the technician ride to our house to drive it in so I didn’t have to be inconvenienced and found them to be fair and honest to deal with. Barry was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them (and plan to rent from them in the future rather than own another RV). Thank you Barry!

I rented a new (2015) Forrest Ridge Trailer from 5 Star RV. I went in on a Sunday and Barry handled the rental process. You need to pay attention to the process — he asks for a lot of information but I can’t say I would do things differently as he’s trying to protect his investment in a very expensive piece of equipment. The only two things that got added on after the fact was a rental fee for a hitch and insurance. I do not consider this an issue as I had planned to buy a hitch and I had thought I would be able to get insurance coverage through my auto insurance. Jack thoroughly explained the optional cleaning fees — they are not cheap but again, they are optional and if you don’t mind cleaning, you don’t need them. Jack even gave me the option of deciding on the cleaning (I do it myself or I pay) after the unit was brought back.
A couple of weeks before the check-​out date, Jack called me (as Barry said he would) to confirm final details. Nothing was added at this point, thanks to the discussion. Chalk this up to the thorough discussion I had during the rental process. I was told to plan for a couple of hours to check out and pick up the RV.
The check-​out process was thorough. I was a bit apprehensive about the damage deposit and the possibility of missing damage and then getting charges for it. 5 Star’s process is thorough — not like when you rent a car, the desk clerk says the car is damage free, and then you observe all sorts of small things when you walk out to the lot to get the car. Jack handed me the check-​out form and made sure even the slightest damage (there were a couple of small dings (about the size of a piece of rice) in the paint), was noted. He also made sure to note some buckling in one of the stabilizing jacks that I might have missed. He also went through every system in the trailer to make sure I understood it completely. Jack also asked if I wanted the cleaning packages but said I could decide when I got back. Notwithstanding that I was renting a new trailer (with low probability of multiple or hidden points of damage), I felt it’d be really difficult to overlook something. I feel the customer also has some responsibility in this process — open every drawer and cabinet, make sure the latches work, make sure the drawer fronts are not separating from the drawers, make sure fixtures are securely fastened to the walls (which are in some cases just 1/​8″ pressboard), check the mattresses and cushions for stains. Basically, inspect the RV as if you were buying it.
Jack showed me how to work the hitch and then helped me adjust the brake controller for optimal braking. Then, I was on my way.
The RV worked as planned. There were a couple of things that were a little odd (water heater was a bit weak and grey water tank seemed to fill up quick) but this did not take away from a positive experience. I noted this when I got back and they said they’d look into it.
Before I took the trailer back, I thoroughly cleaned it. As long as you are a tidy person, this should be easy. Unless you are in a big hurry, I’d suggest cleaning the unit yourself. This involves dumping the tanks, cleaning the inside of the unit (get a bottle of 409 and a roll of paper towels and go to work), and then filling up the propane tanks. The flip side if you may need to keep the unit an extra day, but this still costs less than the cleaning fee.
Check in was a breeze. Since the unit was so clean, and since I had been very detailed when filling out the check out sheet, we spent about 10 minutes checking the unit in. The check in guy (forgot his name) was friendly and thorough. We then shot the breeze for a few minutes and I was on my way.
It took about two weeks to get the damage deposit back. It was a check from a local bank. It would have been nice to get it back faster, but so it goes. I also received a follow up thank you phone call.
I would definitely rent from 5 Star again.

Fair folks. I had to cancel my RV rental due to unforeseen circumstances and they worked with me to come to an amicable agreement on the rental cancellation. Great communication. Very fair business practices. If I’m ever in need of an RV rental again… I will go to 5 Star!

We recently rented a 31′ RV from Five Star RV for nine days traveling round trip from Kirkland to the Redwood Forest in California. For the seven of us, the vacation and experience was fantastic and the RV performed as it should without issue. Some things we decided to do was bring our own generator, never use the A/​C and limit our on-​board toilet use (used 4 times max.) We purchased the VIP Gold package just so we would not need to clean/​sanitize it upon return.
The instruction that Jack gave us upon check-​in was thorough and concise. We took pictures of everything and pointed out all minor pre-​damage included expired license tabs that were immediately purchased and stuck on the plate.
We returned the vehicle without cleaning it and mentioned the refrigerator wasn’t cold enough. At times we would turn off the house battery to conserve the life of the battery not knowing the refrigerator would shut down, causing the issue we encountered. The check-​out went smoothly, but again we took pictures of EVERYTHING and documented the problem we had with the refrigerator. Good thing we took the pictures because we were told the cleaning crew encountered a problem with the refrigerator hinge and the door falling off!
We were entirely satisfied with Five Star RV. Returning our $ 1500 cash deposit seemed to be an issue (knocked off a star). When we returned the RV it was to be cleaned & thoroughly checked out immediately since it was being re-​rented in a few hours. We were told we could not get our deposit back for two days, which seemed odd since they will know in a few short hours if everything performs satisfactorily for its next voyage. With perseverance we were able to pick up all of our cash deposit the following day.
Here’s a tip when you rent anything: be a good steward, take care of the vehicle as if it were your own, take before & after pictures/video’s of entire vehicle in/​out, and put before/​after damages/​issues in writing.

Exceeded my expectations. This was my first time renting an RV. I had waited until May, which is super late, to try to rent my RV and all the places I called were out. But this place had one left and they gave us a great price. I was able to take care of all the paperwork online which was nice because I lived almost an hour drive away. The gentleman I worked with, Jack, was great and he even went above and beyond to contact and work with my insurance company for coverage of the RV instead of trying to sell me other insurance.
During our trip, one of the keys got stuck in the lock, I was able to call right away and talk to another gentleman at the rental center that gave us permission to drill the lock out and didn’t even charge us for it. This saved our trip.
I have worked in Customer Service for a long time, and I was extremely impressed with how smooth and painless this rental experience was. I will definitely work this this company again.

This place is the worst. Don’t be fooled by the conversation you have with them on the phone. They seem nice enough but that all changes when you pick up the RV. The owner Barry is a real piece of work. He tried to embarrass me in front of my family by insinuating I was taking advantage of him with the pricing he quoted me well in advance of us picking up the RV. I would have walked out then, but we had flown in, were on a tight schedule, and were out of options. The RV looked fine but after hitting the road we discovered the CD player didn’t work. Then the knobs fell off the bathroom sink, the refrigerator didn’t work all the time, and we noticed the carpet was covered in plastic (why have carpet then?). The toilet smelled the entire trip even though it wasn’t used. Another highlight of the trip was when we had a blowout on a rear tire, while we were in the middle of nowhere. I called their office but nobody answered, left messages, no callback. I had to call AAA. The blowout was due to their faulty tire valve. Additional $ 280 spent. Total nightmare. Drop off the RV and they tried keeping the deposit. The whole experience was terrible and expensive. You don’t get what you pay for with Barry and the crew over at 5 Star. There may be a good review here or there but those are either flukes or fabrications. Don’t let these clowns ruin your vacation.

Contrary to one of the reviews below this is NOT an «inside» review to attempt to offset negative reviews. I actually rented a 24 foot RV from Five Star for 3 weeks. We have never rented or driven an RV before. My experience was nothing but positive since I entered into a rental agreement with this business several months ago. I am suspicious about several very negative reviews that sound like similar rants, then an invitation to join a class action suit. Really? Sounds like one unhappy group (who all filed individual complaints to make it look like a string of unhappy customers) with an unfortunate mechanical experience and some damage they had to pay for. Read the contract, folks. That’s what you are responsible for. Don’t rent an RV if you don’t want to risk having to pay for damage or cleaning.
That said, we had NO problems with our RV, although we did take the time to read operations manuals, watch the DVD they supplied, and take care of the equipment. We ran this RV almost 2000 miles in 113 degree heat with no problems.
But they are tricky. One reviewer said the fridge didn’t work and they lost food… did you make sure to switch the fridge unit from battery to propane? Or put it in auto-​mode? These are the small things you have to pay attention to that really are NOT the RV renters fault.
The staff (everyone) was helpful, answered all of our questions, took time to show us how to run the thing, and were helpful when we returned to allow us to unload on their property for convenience. We received our $ 1500.00 deposit back in full. Nothing hidden or upcharged.

Customer service and mechanical support were horrible. The RV we rented was a piece of crap and most things inside the RV did not work. They charged us for damage that we did not cause (probably trying to fix their crap RV). We did not get any of our deposit back even though during the walk through they only noted a very small spot stain on one of the seats and no other damage. I will not ever go here again and would only recommend this place to someone I really do not like so they can go through the absolute horror I went through.

Horrible customer service! Tried to take advantage of us because we are a younger profesional couple. Caught them in thier error. They rented us an RV that was in horrible working condition! Generator went out right away and it was flashing a service light when we were doing the walk through! Jack, the guy doing our walk through «didn’t notice it» apparently during the walk through. When the gen died at out first stop in 105 degree weather, I went to open the generator lid and saw that flashing 3 lights means NEEDS SERVICE! We had to keep windows open in the rv the entire camp out due to the ac not working and the rv became a bit more dusty inside than anticipated. We paid for the VIP cleaning in advance and figured sense they rented us a bad unit they would understand about the dust but no, they are charging us for extra cleaning. They are straight up thieves. Owner is not the sharpest tool in the shed and he seems like he is addicted to some sort of amphetamine as well. Would explain the greed and highway robbery that went down. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Their dishonesty begins with their name, Five Star, unless they expect you to understand that it’s meant to mean five stars out of a hundred. Chances are you’ll be dealing with Barry, a second class con man who you’ll want to trust mostly because you’ll want your experience to unfold as you’ve imagined, positively, but leave it to Barry and Five Star to take full advantage of that optimism and use it as an advantage to employ his scheme in what should be a simple transaction. That’s where Barry lives and breathes and scams. He will say one thing and charge you for two others, holding your $ 500 deposit hostage, leaving you with very little choice but to stay the course with Five Star. In my experience, on the pickup day, he shrouded his thievery with a smokescreen of incompetence and confusion performed very convincingly by his office stooge. He even used frustration with me that «he lost a lot of sleep on this deal already.» He said that five minutes after I walked into the office, me having no clue there was a negative vibe in the room yet; one of his methods of disarming you. The oven didn’t work, so the frozen pizzas we bought were useless, not that they were frozen long because the pizzas along with about $ 75 worth of meat spoiled because the fridge would not stay cold. We had a blowout, called the emergency number, waited on a desolate roadside for a call back that never came, even though the help we needed took place during business hours. Upon return, Barry wanted to take money from my deposit because the edge of carpet under the plastic seal was dirty and they had to steam clean it. Here I paid for the platinum cleaning package, an extra $ 220, and he made it sound like using a steam cleaner was like outsourcing neurosurgery. I’m sorry, but how does a rental company not own a steam cleaner as part of their platinum cleanup service? It was a bluff for Barry to seem like a generous fellow and overlook the «damage» to the edge of carpeting in order to diffuse my complaints about being gouged every which way by his thievery. He’s a thief, plain and simple. And the minute he answers your first phone call, you are being led down a path where he will take advantage of you. With a cheery smiling voice of course. Don’t be fooled. Rent elsewhere.
There’s no doubt that the positive reviews you see on their Unilocal page are fabricated from within to offset what appears to be unanimously negative reviews. Another example of their shady methods.

Run! Run away! unless you love crappy customer service, hidden fees and roadside assistance that doesnt call you back. If thats your thang then by all means get on down there and serve youself up a glass of 5 star. Steaming pile of deuce awaits you at checkout/​dropoff.

Terrible experience. He was rude, condescending, petty and unfair. We had mechanical problems with the rv and called the emergency number they provided us. Despite the office being open at the time we called, we never got through and never got a call back. We were on our own to get it repaired and going again. He was unapologetic about it.
When we first went to pick it up, the cost was different than what we agreed to on the phone but we were essentially stuck with him at that point. Unexpected fees, seemingly changes to the deal. We should have backed out and changed our plans. Then when we went to return it, there were reports of damage which we didn’t at all agree with. It was a major hassle getting even part of the deposit back. He ended up keeping some which was unfair since we felt that we returned the Rv better than we found it.
No interactions we had with them were positive. There are other options. I have rented a few RVs before in different places and have had no problems.

We rented from Five Star Rv Center in Everett for a family road trip. We were more than pleased with the condition of the RV, the detailed instruction on how to use the Rv and the incredible on demand help we received from the 1 – 800 help line when and if we needed assistance. We are planning to rent again this year for another spring break road trip.

We rented an RV. They insisted on taking the damage deposit in cash or cashiers check. I returned the and they refused to refund the deposit, claiming a bunch of made up damage. Now I understand the policy on the deposit, so I can’t dispute the charge on my credit card.
These folks are CRIMINALS!!! Beware

We rented a travel trailer in August 2013 for 5 days. The pick up was smooth and my Husband commented that the staff was nice and helpful. The trailer was in great condition. it looked like it hadn’t been used before. We had a good camping trip as the trailer performed as expected. The drop off of the trailer was also good. Our damage deposit was returned. And I have just booked the same trailer to rent again. Thank you.

Run…run the other way as fast as you can. I refuse to write a long diatribe of a Unilocal review as I am a small business owner myself, but trust me when I say that I have had an out of the box horrible experience with this company; and I am usually beyond patient with these types of things
–Broken down RV including busted kitchen extenders (that you had to physically push out and pull in), light fixtures falling out, broken power steering, water pump not being set correctly, charging plug out, radio didn’t work, mattress was too long for bed, so rear hatch wouldn’t shut correctly, on and on and on (I’m sure I’m forgetting things). All of this was after being told that we had a «premium» RV.
–Super shady up front costs on initial rental (went from $ 1500 to almost $ 3000)
— Guy tried run an insurance claim on a flat tire. Guy also tried to run an $ 8000 claim on light damage to rear bumper from a motorist that tagged the back while we were away from vehicle. I’m not a body guy, but I’ve done enough car repair to know that this was clearly fraudulent.
–When I tried to call to see where my refund was for $ 300 deductible on claim, I had to leave three separate messages with the guy who could barely speak English at the front desk, before finally had to call and demand to speak with the owner. This was over three weeks time.
Again, I do not write Unilocal reviews lightly and being a fellow business owner it took me a lot to get pushed over the edge enough to write this, but seriously an all around awful experience.

I had a good experience with these guys getting service done one one of our shop vehicles. Nobody in Seattle would take our oversized van in for a wash, and it was starting to look like a giant Chia pet with the green moss growing on top. Five star was no nonsense and took me right in.
They have a decent selection of hardware and common RV parts to purchase in their retail shop.
One interesting option they provide is something called the «owners club», it’s a service that will rent out your RV to qualified people when you’re not using it. that would probably work well for a lot of people that buy expensive rigs and only use them a few times per year.
