Harborview Park

Really pretty place to hang out in Everett! Even during a cold, rainy day, the view is great.
After taking me to get burgers, my boyfriend surprised me with eating lunch here! It was a nice place to relax and watch the boats rather than staying and eating with the loud background conversation of other diners.
When we were there, I noticed several other people coming and going with their lunches or mid-​day coffee doing the same thing we were — just hanging out and enjoying some down time.
Only sad thing is — we got out of the car to go read a few infographics/​brochures on the park only to find all of the little info kiosks had all the paper ripped off the stands, so…

The first time I came here with a friend to study since it was an extremely nice day. I was surprised that there was barely anyone at the park! Made my study experience a lot better because it was so quiet. I can only imagine how packed this place gets when people are off work and want to spend time with their family in the sun while they barbeque since there are grills available. The parking area is a little on the smaller side but it is a small park, so I guess that’s understandable.

Great place to picnic or throw the frisbee.
Great view of Everett waterfront and navel base.
Watch the ferries and tug and barges.
Hiking trails down to Howarth Park and lower Howarth.
Lots of room and flat surface. Parking lot is large and very accommodating. With a GREAT view of Whidbey Island and Gedney (Hat) Island.

This place is quite beautiful. Lots of grass to lay out a blanket and eat lunch. There’s also picnic tables if you so desire.
Watch out for the dog poo! Owners and their lack of cleaning up enrages me.
There’s also quite a few hiking trails. Steep in some areas. We went down to find a Geocache, but found as you went to the bottom near the creek, it was much too muddy for casual shoes.
We’d love to go back for a picnic and scrabble sometime.

I love this small park. There are probably about two dozen parking spots, several picnic tables and a couple of benches. There’s shade, there’s sun and there are fabulous water views. My husband is on the USS NIMITZ so I always come to this park to see the NIMITZ pull in and out of port. In the summer there are a ton of wild blackberries to be picked although in 2014 they were quite sour… heat ‘me up, add some sugar and you’ve got yourself a nice blackberry syrup though! I bring my dog here a lot. It’s a nice small park to walk around.

Very nice park with a beautiful view of the water and fresh cut grass! There are some tables nearby to relax and have a small picnic (although they are a little dirty but hey, it’s the outdoors). There’s an area where you can set up a friendly game of volleyball too!
There’s a parking lot that may get full depending on the day.
I saw lots of people with their dogs here and even a group of students and parents taking pictures for prom night! This place definitely is scenic enough for a beautiful prom backdrop!

This park is great for some super casual hangouts. There is a vast open area for sports and a smaller area mostly encased by trees for a more intimate game. Just beware of the high traffic road next to it. The park is invites even furry friends but I don’t see many pets. But if they do ever come, there are plenty of doggie bag dispensers, a high tech compression trash bin for those unwanted dog treats, and regular maintenance to both clean and expand the park for future fun.
With ample parking, benches, and a BEAUTIFUL VIEW, where could you go wrong? I just wish there were more picnic tables.

We came here last night because all the spots were taken down at the Mukilteo Lighthouse park. We just had a nice last-​minute barbeque and it was pretty good at this park. Easy parking, lots of grass for the doggy to run around, we got a grill and table with a great view of the sunset. We were there from 6 – 10 and it was just beautiful; talk about an unobstructed view! I“m also glad there’s a lot of space, so people don’t feel like they’re sharing their meal with the person next to them. Good times!

I am so glad this is right down the street from where I live! Fantastic view, on a sunny day, nothings beats it. When the weather’s right, will either head here before work, or on my lunch, grab a sandwich or a smoothie, and sit in the grass and listen to music. Everything then feels right with the world and makes me fully appreciate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

HARBORVIEW PARK — EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: In what seems at times to be a world of political and economic strife desperate for a return to ethical behavior, honesty, and integrity — there is a place you can go to recharge your batteries, take in the wonders that God has provided to you and enhance your faith in humanity. For free, go to Harborview Park to fill up your senses with a 180 degree VIEW of Possession Sound (see photos).
DESCRIPTION: The 8.4 acre Park is really not a complicated area — mostly consisting of lawn and some shade trees located on a high bluff, maybe 7 stories above the Puget Sound. There are sitting & picnic benches and barbecue pits plus a vast lawned area to walk the dogs, throw footballs and Frisbees, kick soccer balls, play bad mitten, fly kites and electric gliders, catch some sun and feed French fries to a few seagulls. You can have a wedding or party or put on an event. You can watch container ships, Coastguard cutters, sailboats, speedboats, tugs pushing barges and occasionally frigates, destroyers, cruisers and the Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier sailing to and from their home port at Everett Marina or Naval Station Everett. You can see the Everett waterfront, Mt Baker, Hat Island, Whidbey Island and the ferries crossing from Clinton to Rose Point in Mukilteo to the west. You can listen to the birds singing in the morning and view breathtaking sunsets over the Olympic Mountains and Whidbey Island to the west. It is like watching a big stage with life outside playing before your very eyes.
Then there is this large PARKING LOT. You can drive in and park — snack, take a snooze, read a book, vegetate, watch sunrises, sunsets, shipping and people laughing and enjoying the moment and a 180 degree view AND never leave your car.
BEACH and HIKING TRAILS: You can take a trail down past the old tank farm (oil tanks removed and area cleaned up) about halfway down the bluff. This area might be a great location for a future PARK ADDITION — hmmm. The trail then continues down to the waterfront. Be careful when you cross the four well traveled Burlington Northern /​Sounder railroad tracks along the waterfront to the sandy beach to walk the dogs or go on your morning or evening walk — trains can be fatal. Then there is GLENWOOD CREEK that runs along the eastern end of the Park with hiking trails and a glistening brook with entry points from the waterfront and the high bluff above.
PARK HISTORY: It all started 1-​22-​1855 when territorial Governor Isaac Stevens met at Point Elliott at the north tip of Mukilteo with 82 Native American leaders including Chief Seattle. In the presence of many tribesmen, The Point Elliott Treaty was signed by which native inhabitants ceded their lands to the US government in exchange for relocation to reservations, retention of hunting and fishing rights, and an amount of cash.
MUKILTEO became the first settlement (1860) in what later became known as Snohomish County (created by the territorial legislature 1-​14-​1861). Jacob Fowler was named the first Postmaster 7-​21-​1861 and referred then to the area by its Indian name — Mukilteo. Interestingly, Mukilteo was not incorporated until 1947 (population then 700 — 22,000 in 2010). During this period, Mukilteo (translation: «good camping ground») was essentially situated at the towns northern point (today the location of Lighthouse Park and the Mukilteo Ferry) called «OLD TOWN».
EVERETT: In 1861, Dennis Brigham built the first cabin in what is now referred to as Port Gardner on Everett’s Waterfront. Plans for platting the town were formulated by the actions of Henry Hewitt, Charles Colby and Colgate Hoyt in 1890. The town was named after Hoyt’s 15 year old son Everett and incorporated on 5-​4-​1893, population 5,600 (105,000 in 2010), the same year that the Great Northern railway (Today the Burlington Northern Santa Fe) came to town. Everett, Washington’s 6^th largest city (35 miles north of Seattle), received the All American City award in 2002.
CONNECTING MUKILTEO and EVERETT: The Point Elliott site was easiest to access by water routes (first by canoe, then by steamer, and later by passenger and car ferry). Although Great Northern tracks were laid along the Washington coast, the railroad connection primarily was for freight, with limited passenger travel. Road connections from Mukilteo to Everett proved to be a significant challenge for years as the construction cost of spanning 7 gullies slowed progress on a road. Finally, MUKILTEO BLVD was officially opened with a grand ceremony in 1914. In 2010, this road still hugs the coast line bordering 3 city parks (Harborview = 8,400 acres; Howarth = 28 acres; Forest = 111 acres) and offers views of Port Gardner Bay as well as sought-​after view property for residences.

If you work up in the Everett area and you are having one of those days where all your zany co-​workers are grating on your everloving last nerve — then Harborview Park is your lunchtime oasis. They do have some picnic tables, but most folks just park and eat in their cars and enjoy the unobstructed view of Possession Sound. I even keep my binoculars in my car, in case I want to look at the goings on down on some boat, or view a seagull up close. It’s a beautiful view!
