My wife and I have an ongoing quest to find good Mexican food near home that doesn’t make us ill. When Meson opened, we were very hopeful. Our hope were sadly crushed. We went with my in laws on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The waitress/hostess greeted us kindly and sat us pomptly. The menu looks GREAT. I mean it. Then it went down hill fast. She brought us tortilla chips. While they were fried on site and tasted great, they had been around a good long time and were quite chewy. The salsas(we asked for extra hot as well as the standard they brought) were also tasty. We them waited to order forever.(side note: I do not mind slow service if the place is busy and/or I have a drink in my hand) They had not yet been approved for a liquor license and this combined with not playing any music made time seem to stop.(like black hole event horizon stillness) The waitress/hostess finally took our orders and eventually returned with our food.(i suspect this was her first job and no one filled her in on what a waitress does) When then asked for silverware, but failed to specifiy that WEALL wanted silverware so she made two trips. None of us ordered finger food. Refreshingly, we did not hear the phrase«Hot Plate!!» and with good reason. The food was served at room temperature if that. My wifes Flautas were swimming in water. It was clear there was no management to speak with, so we just ate what we could(my mother in law’s chicken was shoe leather my «house special» gordita thing had good flavor, but was cold) and waited for the check. and waited… and waited… I then sought out waitress/hostess and paid. If they are still open in 6 months, we may try it again.(i suspect the location is cursed as no business lasts a year.)
