Office Depot

This was my first visit ever at this Office Depot location. Before I walked in I expected a low level of customer service. Rarely do I find a high level of customer service. I walked in wanting to return some items and look around. Well at this Office Depot location I was wowed with stellar customer service. My mission was to return two products and the process went smoothly. Cashier was on top of it. So was the manager.
While I was looking around again another salesperson/​cashier came to tell me about the clearance rack.
During check out again… stellar service. I will be returning to this location when I am in the area. I highly suggest.

In a world of less than helpful people the staff at OD stands head and shoulders above the rest! They are always polite and ask if they can help me find something. The store is neat and fairly well stocked. They only downside is checking out. While the store has alot of staff roaming the sales floor the checkout is usually relegated to one person and there is often a line.

I’m happy to report that the issues others were having don’t seem to be happening any more, at least in my world!
While this store isn’t located too close to my business, if I actually have the time I prefer to go to here. The prices are reasonable, and they have a lot of products to choose from. My organization uses some «less common» office supplies like press board books and a lot of prong fasteners (Staples seems to always be out of the variety we use) and Office Depot always has them in stock. Also, their variety is good (in comparison to Staples) with many different kinds of each supply. As a professional desk jockey, supplies are really important to me and I want the kind I want because… that kind of stuff makes my day when I’m chained to my desk. You’d have to be there to understand ;)
The service is also friendly; Mary at the front rocks! I also appreciate that the manager Paul walks around and asks people if they «can help me find anything.» I’m one of those stubborn people who will walk around for hours looking for something but won’t ask for help. My stubborness doesn’t serve me well, as I’m often in a hurry and do need help finding things.
If I have time to drive the extra few miles, it’s worth it.

They had a GPS that I miraculously wanted. I was about to buy it from Best Buy for $ 160, but I found out it was only online. Browsing through the ads, Office Depot was selling the exact product for $ 130!
I was super excited and so onwards I called Office Depot to see if they still had it in stock. I don’t know why… But the lady who answered said she doesn’t know what to do «so she’ll transfer me over to blah blah». I waited 5 minutes with that stupid advertisement song before I hung up and called again, ready to ask the lady to just WALK OVER TO THE GPS section and get it. But another lady answered instantly and said yes you’re on hold. I was like «…what? Is this Office Depot?» She replied yes and put me on hold again…
Then a man answers and says he’s going to put me on hold to switch phones. I wait another 3 minutes and the man says now they’re looking for the product, and resumes to put me on hold.
THEN another man answers and says there is one left… He says he’ll put it on hold for me (how many «hold’s» is in this review?) and doesn’t even bother to ask me for my name…
So an eternity in, they found my product, I went in, and purchased it after waiting 5 minutes for a guy to get it. The end.
Horrible service. Just a place to get in and out.

Probably the worst place for business supplies if you are in a hurry.
I stopped into Office Depot because it was on my way to the post office. All I needed was an envelope to ship something. When I pulled into the parking lot they had a sign saying they had shipping services through USPS. I was incredibly excited that I wouldn’t have to make two different stops.
I found my envelope easy enough but when I went to pay the cashier was incredibly slow. It wasn’t that she was just providing good customer service; she could not seem to multi– task. If she talked to the person she was ringing out, she couldn’t scan and bag at the same time.
Once I finally made it through the POS I headed over to the counter for shipping. There was only one man behind the counter and another guy came up as I was filling out the envelope. Once I was ready though the young man was still with the same customer and there was no one around to help. Another couple came up to ship something and the young man called for additional assistance to help us out. After about 10 minutes in total waiting, the assistant manager comes up. I tell him I want to ship my package and he starts typing up the shipping label. He tells me that it will be $ 13 to ship a book. A book. $ 13. Not happening. I ask him about media mail because I’ve shipped books for $ 3 or $ 4. He tells me they don’t have that option and proceeds to make me wait another 5 minutes looking through the other options to see if media mail is available. I told him I needed to go to work. I wish he would have just been upfront so I could have gotten on my way over to the post office.
I know that they want people’s business but I wish they would be upfront that they don’t have certain services. I was late to work by almost a half an hour because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Won’t make that mistake again. I’m sure this is a fine place if you want to meander through aisles and take your time. But come on. It’s called Office Depot. If they aren’t appealing to the business class, why do they call themselves that?

These guys have majorly saved me a few times when I have had some serious printing that needs to get done fast. With that said, printing here is good (better and cheaper than Kinko’s across the street), but still kind of pricey. Color copies are obnoxiously expensive, so it those cases just use your printer if you only need a few. Anyway, good deals and nice staff.
