Every bit of produce I’d gone there to purchase was over ripe or rotten. Local fresh is false advertising. It may be local but it definitely was not fresh. I spent less than 5 minutes there before I was thoroughly discussted. I turned around and went to the grocery store instead. Very disappointing.

Star Produce is respectable. Yes, there are a lot of different kinds of things you can get here, there is the Mexican, Indian, Slavic/Russian, East Asian, South American cuisines represented, etc. I was actually QUITE entranced with all the variety of ethnic foods in the grocery sections. And the folks here are pretty friendly. The prices are pretty cheap, and the food is pretty decent, aside from the sometimes questionable produce. I remember seeing a giant Yucca root there. Like, the thing looked like it was a freaking tree branch. Who would buy something like that??? :D(I don’t know, I’m not Mexican…) Also, places that tend to attract the Mexican crowd, for some reason, tend to have similar meat counters, etc. I mean, I LOVE the meat here, and at other similar places, I LOVE those seasonings, peppers, etc. I just wonder about the quality of the meat, the sanitation, etc. sometimes. Oh well, I’ve never gotten sick from meat like that, so, yeah. But, you know, I don’t buy meat like that very often-chorizo, barbacoa, etc. Good place. But keep an eye on the quality of the produce there.

When I decided to try a short term juice diet, I wanted to try this place out because I read the prices were a lot cheaper than your chain grocery store and the quality was just as good. I don’t think these descriptions were correct. Seeing as these Unilocal reviews before me date back a bit, things might have been different, same, who knows. They did have a vast selection but the store itself seemed really run down and dirty. The amount of flies roaming the place was ridiculous. I understand the environment of the place, its hard to keep the flies out, but if that is the case, cover the product, do something. A lot of the produce/fruits I looked at had items that were either bad, or would have gone bad the next day. Also the pricing didn’t seem that much cheaper, some even being priced higher. Considering I was already there, I did pick up a few things. They didn’t last through the second day, I was really disappointed. Truth be told, I would rather pick up my produce in a grocery store, that at least looks clean, and I can store more than a few days. I don’t mind paying the extra dollar if I can, for that. The only good thing, is the items they have that are boxed or wrapped or in a container etc, they have a selection that you really find in a grocery store, that would be worth checking out if you need items of such, I don’t think I will be returning here though.

Saw star produce from the 99 and decided to give it a try before a Zumba class at Bindi Yoga. I was less than impressed, in my opinion your better of going to lenny’s produce in Greenwood than driving all the way up north. I got 3 nectarines and two were moldy by the next morning. The grapes were extremely small and very sour. The shop staff was not engaging as acted as though you were bothering them. Also the smell of fish is overwhelming. Cash if under the $ 10 credit debit limit.

This is probably the cheapest produce stand in the northend. It’s a little out of the way from my house but when I’m in the neighborhood, I do tend to make a short visit. They also have a nice selection of Asian staples and Asian veggies as well. If you’re looking for some gai lan or yu choy, this is a good place to go for it in the north end. The one bummer is that most produce is already plastic wrapped so you can’t pick out the bad ones. You get the good and the bad here. The prices are fairly decent as well.

This place is just ok. They do have really good deals, but nothing in the way of organics and the produce they have looks less than fresh. However, I sometimes come in for cheap stuff in mass quantity for juicing. They do have a great international food selection and they even carry kvas, which I hadn’t had since Ukraine. If I were just rating on international groceries, I would give a 4.5, but for produce, meh.

I stumbled across Star Produce while driving down 99 to Everett one day. I have been looking for a produce stand closer to where I live, and I’m glad i discovered this place! You definitely have to watch the quality on some of their items, but their prices can’t be beat. To boot, this is not only a produce stand, but also an ethnic market. It has a Mexican and Asian grocery right inside, along with a few russian/european items! You ll just have to venture there and check it out to see what i mean, its pretty interesting :-)
