Stopped in here based off the great Unilocal reviews. Was passing threw town today and needed a lunch spot. Myself and two friends went and and was welcomed by a waitress who took great care of us. We were seated quickly and told they had a lunch buffet if we cared to look at it before ordering. It was a few soups about 4 main dishes and about 5 sides. All three of us got the Buffett and it didn’t disappoint. Also not sure what the house salad dressing is but sooo good. If you are in Everett or even on the turnpike it’s definitely worth the side trip.

Soups are at least very good to excellent plus. [trade mark bisque is awful] Most uneven main courses I ever saw. 1 time really nice lightly breaded shrimp, next time huge balls of [semi-cooked] dough w/tiny shrimp. Had combo of 2 ocean fish, 1 of best meals I ever ate; but then other meals were unpalatable. Wife & I both got sick on flat bread sandwiches. Neither we nor any of our guests liked their mariana sauce. When the meals are good [WHEN] they are fair value. Especially w/the fried shrimp, I never saw any menu go down so far so quickly. Atmosphere will rank w/best anywhere. As others have said, beautiful building wonderfully restored. If you go do walk around. Huge rest rooms very clean. Call in, try to talk w/head honcho & he will not lower himself to speak w/mere mortals or return phone calls. New«management» = new cook w/a buffet. Food on buffet was room temperature. Complained to waitress, the head honcho came out, sniffed around & did 0. Service is also uneven, ranging from at least average [if not above] to worst waitresses I’ve ever seen in my 76 years. Ice tea is very good. Wide selection of beer. Decent size to generous portions.

We are thoroughly enjoying our time here at the Union Hotel — it’s a beautiful old building that someone lovingly brought into mode. Warm wood floors, tin ceilings, sparkling marble everywhere — and the food is great! Enjoyed the lasagna last night — the endless salad is fabulous. Drinks in the basement bar — $ 5 margaritas are well-made. Our room is very nice — an antique, opulent feel, but clean and new at the same time. A great place with friendly staff in a quaint but vibrant downtown. We even heard carolers outside our window last evening! So glad we came!

I keep trying this place and keep wishing I never choose to eat here. The place keeps changing changing owners because they just can’t seem to get it together. This last time, I thought I would try the wings. When they came out, they just didn’t look like they should. Problem was, the staff didn’t put any sauce on it. The waitress did her best to avoid us so long that I ended taking our daughter outside to avoid a meltdown. This place could be so good, but the staff just doesn’t care

My wife and I were looking for a place to stay to divide the trip across PA into 2 short trips. We stumbled across this hidden gem on the Internet. The price was right and location was good. The restaurant/bar downstairs was great. Huge selection of craft beer which was a major plus for me. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. The place reminds of what life should be like.

The house salad with the house dressing is amazing! Had wings and rings as the special the wings were great and the onion rings were amazing. Love the dipping sauce for the onion rings. The select of draft beers is great as well.

Oh how I loved this place. My classic idea of B&B. The floors have been redone in marble and they hotel has it’s own restaurant along with two bars upstairs and downstairs. The lower bar or tavern is a historic place where they used to have a jail. What I love the most about this place is the cozy bedroom and bath that has a whirlpool and has a waterfall shower head. I loved the comfy bed with a pillow-top mattress and featherdown pillows. We woke up one morning and ordered breakfast in bed. Well my husband went downstairs and they put our breakfast on a wheeled cart and my hubby brought it upstairs to me and we had a real breakfast in bed. It was very romantic. After dinner we went down to the tavern that I assumed would be empty because we were in a small town but it was actually packed with 40 to 50 people and they even had an extra party room with music going and a live DJ. We were able to order food well into the night on friday and saturday but on sundays they closed at 8pm. The only down side was that this hotel closes its doors at 11pm on the weekend and 9pm on weekdays, including Sundays. So if you come in too late you won’t be able to get in the hotel. This is a big downside if you are visiting family and don’t get back to the hotel until late. But i guess that’s why it’s a B&B and not a real hotel. I can’t wait to come back again!!!

We were on our way to a wedding in Martinsburg, PA and stopped here for a Saturday lunch. The waitress provided great service; they had 11 beers on tap; reasonable priced lunch flatbread pizza($ 9) including bottomless yummy salad and tasty soups. Our son had chicken nuggets off the kids menu and they were pure chicken chunks with great flavor that came with Boardwalk type fries. It appears to be under new management. Give it a try. We loved it and will be back the next time we are through.

Apparently in the basement after a certain time there are no waitresses. Huge gorgeous place but worst management ever. Sad to see this happen to a historical landmark.

…my wife and I needed a getaway and this was a great spot. You open the front door and immediately see the bar to the right. Gleaming and with two barber chairs! The restaurants are great and a good beer selection, everything first class.

A for effort. We’ve eaten there 2. First time fish fry. The oil must not have been hot enough. Tonight we tried the pasta. Pasta was good but nothing was very hot. Lasagna, meatballs, chicken parm-ok. Ordered a bottle of wine. It arrived already opened and recorked. Had to ask for bread. Wine selection not great.

Horrible Breakfast Experience My family went to the restaurant for the Sunday Buffet. When we walked in they told us that if we wanted any eggs, pancakes, waffles, or French toast they would have to cook it to order. The five of us made our way to the ‘buffet’ which was just a few serving dishes with burners underneath. The food that they have available was at most warm. The bacon was so over cooked it turned into bacon bits, the potatoes were okay but they only had a couple of spoonfuls in the server, the sausage gravy was not even warm. We placed an order with the waitress: 2 orders of eggs, 1 order of pancakes, and 2 orders of French toast(she even forgot to put in 1 of the orders of French toast). When the food finally came out you still had to go make your own toast for your eggs… so by the time that the toast was done your eggs were going to be cold(however, didn’t matter anyway). The pancakes came out so thin they looked like a crape and even though they were so thin they were still undercooked and had raw batter in the middle. Both orders of eggs were cooked just enough to turn them white. When the people at the table poked the eggs, the whites ran out all over the plate. It’s at that point we decided we had enough and told the waitress/manage we were upset and didn’t feel that we had to pay for such an awful attempt at breakfast. We left the ‘fancy buffet’ and walked down the street to the mom-and-pop place and had a great breakfast for less money. The place really needs to hire a cook who knows what he/she is doing, not some local who thinks because they can dump some pancake batter on a griddle they know how to be a chef. Also, if you’re going to advertise a breakfast buffet, then make sure you have food available. If you want to cook eggs to order, then bring the chef out with a hot plate and make omelets to order in front of the customer. Lastly, the manager needs to provide customer service, not excuses when a problem is brought to her attention… she had WAY too much attitude.
