I never realized how beautiful and tranquil a swamp could be! The water is so clear and still, and so perfectly reflects the sky, it was almost like a special effect. We took the sunset tour through the mangrove tunnels, and it was stunning. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable, making everyone feel welcome. We went out of our way to take this tour and it was completely worth it!

Took a 3 hour mangrove tour with Abby and the whole experience was so wonderful, from the initial phone call booking the tour with Allie to the guides seeing us off and recommending dinner in Everglades City. Water, snacks, bug spray, and sunscreen were provided, along with waterproof boxes and bags which proved quite useful. Really sweet people, family owned company, just like kayaking with friends. We saw a few gators, lots of birds, and got to know the plant life quite well! Don’t miss it!

We had a fabulous time on a three hour afternoon/sunset mangrove trip yesterday! Dan guided our group, which consisted of the two of us in a two-person kayak, our 17 year-old son in a single, and another couple. Dan was very friendly and extremely knowledgable about the environment. We went on the Turner River — saw lots of alligators, including one which had to be 12 feet long, all sorts of birds, learned about the plants, and enjoyed the quiet and the beauty of the area. Dan provided snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, and of course the necessary kayaking gear. My wife is allergic to mosquito bites, so Dan brought along an insect jacket that included a hood and a mesh face protector. It was a really wonderful experience from the first phone call all the way through. We would gladly do more tours with Shurr, and are happy to recommend them to anyone who’s looking to explore the natural beauty of the environment.

My wife and I went on a half day tour in the fall of 2015. We didn’t really plan ahead and didn’t book our trip until the night before. They were very accommodating and our trip was great. It was only the two of us and the guide. They make it really easy and provided everything we needed other than sun block. The tour was really nice and we got to see a range of habitat, plants, and animals(yes, including gators). We got a little wet from paddling, but it was all very easy. Not sure how it compares to other tours, but we definitely enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to others.

It was absolutely worth it! We were there July, 2014. We had half day trip. Jason was our guide and he is knowledgeable in this preserve. We see several gators around our kayaks along our way in and out and they are NOT that dangerous. We firstly get into the water then paddling into a tree tunnel then another lake then another tunnel then another wider area then same route back. All parts of this are loads of fun and full of information. Jason brought us coat and bug spray for keeping mosquito out but still I got like tens of bites on my arms and legs.(I was in shorts by then). I will remember this trip for a very very long while and strongly recommend this trip over airboat. This is very different. *NOTE* Only thing you will need to take care of is wearing long sleeves and pants as email suggested… DONOTWEARSHORTS.

Excellent tour! Justin was a very knowledgeable guide to the Big Cypress National Park. Our sunset tour gave us an excellent exposure to a tri-color Heron and snowy Egret rookery, as well as the beauty of the estuary.

We did a short mangrove kayak tour in the Turner Creek with Justin that was fabulous. We wish we had more time to have taken an all day trip. You could do this on your own if you had kayaks, but he was so knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna that it was well worth having him guide it for us to point out many things that we would have missed. He’s personable and accommodating.
