Just a follow-​up from my post 10÷7÷15. We continue to be unimpressed with the finish of our floors installed by George Hunt aka Hunt Flooring, summer 2014. George changed his phone number shortly after we worked with him, did not share this, and DOES NOT return calls or emails. We are not overly critical, however in paying $ 30K for floors, we feel a response /​remedy is a reasonable request. George applied a water-​based polyurethane finish, and the floors scratch EASILY. We’re concerned the finish is already wearing off, there are random fibers in the finish (probably old applicator brush), and there are ‘fish eyes’ in the urethane (around a toilet). George pointed out burnish marks in our existing floors; however we see these in the new floors he installed. (He stated these were caused by improper calibration of sanding equipment). Here are the main complaints: 1) They did no prep to shield areas from the sanding dust, homeowners responsibility apparently 2) they slopped stain over all baseboards and tile 3) there are fibers in the finish 4) there are ‘fish eyes’ in the finish 5) there are burnish marks 6) the floors scratch ridiculously easy 7) doors were left open mid-​summer resulting in an unnecessarily high energy bill 8) you supply the cost to power their equipment 9) no guarantees or attempts to remedy. Save yourself the disappointment. Ask the questions, work with someone else. You’re welcome.

You could sense the pride when George returned to our home 5 years later after installing walnut floors. They still look terrific. This year we were thankful to have George back to install a transition from the floors he did — into an addition. He’s top notch — I’m glad our realtor recommended him years ago and I’m glad to still work with him today.

George is the best. Have used him for a decade or more. All jobs for me and my real estate clients have been exceptional!

I hired George Hunt to refinish my floors. He completed 90% of the work and I made the mistake of paying him in full. Several phone calls and several months later he has failed to finish the last remaining work. I would not give this man one cent until he has completed 100% of the work to your satisfaction. Actually, I would not hire this unreliable person at all.
