I have been going to the whippletree sense day one. I’ve lived in evergreen my entire life and this is the very first Unilocal review I’ve ever written. I found out this evening that my loved restaurant is closing down and changing names. My wife and I were devistatted to find out this news. I’ve herd from a lot of local friends that the new owner is changing the name and redoing the entire place. I would just like the new owners know that all us locals(or at least the few that are left) will not be attending the new restaurant and will be sure to tell the rest of the town to do the same. Thanks for destroying an evergreen icon and good luck!

This place is perfect. Great beer. Great margaritas. The menu has been redesigned to be the best Mexican food around evergreen. Service is great as well.

$ 4 pints of craft beer, yes please! Also the fried chicken sandwich with bacon and ranch was spot on delicious. And the fries were nice and crispy, which for a busy nights seems to get overlooked at many places. The steak fajitas were overcooked, and didn’t come with salsa, the guac was gross — no idea what they were going for, but the rice was interesting. Service was a little slow and they messed up the bill. We will go back hopefully before the weather turns to sit on the patio, or it seems like a cozy bar for the winter time.

We went here thinking it was a Mexican restaurant. While they have some Mexican food it’s really more of a Western restaurant. Our waitress was sweet and the other staff seemed friendly, but the food was just ok. We don’t plan on going back.

We’ve been to Whippletree a couple times before, but don’t really get up to Evergreen that often. This time I had the Mexican Hamburger, which was pretty good. I chose to get the brussel sprouts as my side, and man, they were good. If you like brussel sprouts, I would highly recommend ordering them. We also started with the Queso Fondido — which was good. Hubby got the BBQ Trio and the coffee bbq sauce that came with it was interesting. It was sweeter than I thought it would be. It wasn’t bad, but not my favorite. Our waitress was attentive and fun. It was a pretty good trip. We will definately stop in again when we are in Evergreen.

Excellent tacos. Kids mac & cheese was a really good; no boxed mac & cheese here. Will definitely be back.

They have a new Chef, Jay. He’s been here for a few months and WOW! Their menu is «the bomb»… creative, fun, and delicious!(Just don’t look here for«health food»!). They have a wonderful salmon salad — Sonoran Salmon with a huge slab of grilled salmon, a crispy quinoa cake and tons of great veg’s. Their fajitas, available with all bells & whistles, or stripped down with just the meat, onions & peppers are juicy and incredibly flavorful. The pot roast(smoked for 12 hrs) with a squash & goat cheese casserole was heart attack on a plate — but what a way to go! I wish I could remember what I had last night — with a scrumptious Baja cream sauce??? Well, it was quite yummy! The Whippletree is an Evergreen«oldtimer» on the Bergen Park circle; it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t judge a book by its cover!

Unilocalers were right on target with this one– it deserves a solid 3.5 stars. The food was pretty good and well priced, and they were tolerant of crabby kids. Would definitely return!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time at a friend’s recommendation who grew up on the area. Glad we did. They outdoor patio is perfect for summer, the fajita burrito and the tropical fish tacos were very good, and the service was excellent. Not a huge fan of paying $ 2 for chips and salsa but they were decent.

So after staying away from Whippletree for several years, my friend and I attempted it again… to no avail. Yes the patio was nice, especially on a beautiful summer evening in Evergreen. Unfortunately, the fact that I had to call attention to a server after sitting for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged should have been an indication of things to come. Chips and salsa had to be ordered twice before arriving. We tried the House Margarita first, not good. 2nd Margarita was sent back due to being undrinkable… server was very rude about it and stated«this is what you ordered», yes I ordered a «drinkable» margarita. 3rd try… even worse. Server ignored the fact that it wasn’t touched and charged us anyway… When the man sitting next to us food arrived, he let the server know it wasn’t what he ordered. Her comment to him, «Yes you did, I wrote it down.», she then walked away… the look on his face was astonishment. Now the food we ordered and received was actually good(therefore 2 stars are given here). Unfortunately the rude wait staff and bad drinks won’t have these locals coming back.

Just tried this little gem and thought it was delish! The chips are thin with excellent seasoning, salsa perfect. I tired the shrimp and chorizo tacos with were fabulous! I also had the fish tacos which were good, the relish is sweet but it still could have had a little more flavor for me. My husband got the fajita burrito with chicken and smothered in green chili and WOW was it good!!! This will be a new Mexican spot for us!

If I was rating this restaurant on food quality alone, I would give it 5 stars. I had 3 different a la cart tacos and they were all tasty, the fish taco was my favorite as the carne asada and portobello tacos were a bit too spicy for me.(I have a low spice tolerance level though.) My husband raved about his Carne Asada Enchilada and my toddler’s Bean & Cheese Burrito was excellent. The food was fresh and there was lots of variety to choose from. My husband said the beer was nice and cold, so he ordered more than usual. The server lady was efficient and a man I can only assume is the chef/possible owner came out of the kitchen to make sure we enjoyed everything. The missing star is due to the fact that the place could use some updates. It’s an older building and the décor could use a little«freshening». The stalls in the women’s bathroom were a bit dark, though plenty of light by the mirror. I was pleased to see a diaper changing station, though happy I didn’t need to use it due to the lack of light. The only other complaint would be that our menus were not clean. The overall state of the restaurant was clean.

We finally found good Mexican food in our new ‘hood! The atmosphere is cozy and not fussy. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Best of all is the food. My husband had the green chile mac-n-cheese which was creamy and tasty with lots of yummy bits of chicken, chili, etc. I had the shrimp relleno with a risotto cake and a spicy lobster sauce. All was simply and thoughtfully prepared. We will definitely be back!

Been here a few times in recent months(lunch and dinner) and had super meals. The traditional Mexican fare is delicious — with AMAZING sauces which are made in house(try the red chile mole, not too spicy not too mild). The meats are also excellent and high quality — I am partial to the delicious dry rubbed chicken, and also like the shredded beef. They have am excellent mixed drinks menu and beer selection, with an excellent house margarita. And for what it’s worth, the burgers are also great. Look forward to many more meals here.

Only went there once, the food was pretty decent, nothing remarkable. The food experience was eclipsed by the awful service we received. The older lady waiting our table was both incredibly rude and nearly non-existent before and during our meal. I’ll try it again some day but would withhold a recommendation at this point.

I know there are a ton of mixed reviews, but I happen to love this place. It’s by far my favorite restaurant in Evergreen. I’ve never had a bad meal or bad experience here. Go grab a raspberry margarita and some steak nachos… YUM!

After a second visit here, which was takeout, I am giving this place two stars. the foo the first time was much better. The toppings on the takeout tacos were not the same as the ones I had when I dined in. Once again, the sopapillas were raw dough :(

Had lunch at the«Whip» for the first time in a long time. Wow, the place has a fresh feel when I walked in, All new hi-top tables in the front room and the bar looked great also. My lunch was wonderful, and a good value for the portion. It was fresh upscale Mexican, and there are several seafood entrée’s as well. I hope everyone in the neighborhood and visitor’s will give this restaurant a try. The«new menu» sign out front really means it! Going back this week for dinner, can’t wait.

I tried Whippletree takeout tonight and I have to say the mac and cheese was the best mac and cheese I’ve had! It has just the right amount of flavors… It’s not overly spicy or too smokey! It’s wonderful! The onion rings are great as well! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant!

Could be worse if you order wrong. Blue corn enchiladas good. Service was good. Chips and salsa were $ 2 extra and we didn’t really really want them. Tequila’s around the corner is a lot better. The bad thing(for us at least) is that there is a gathering of local early afternoon drinkers that get kinda loud.
