Joey Nova’s

Top notch. After going here for the last year I have realized that I am not a customer, but I am a guest. Their staff are trained to learn how to work smarter, and they give them tools that they can use in the world to be successful. Their Italian selection is absolutely fantastic. Their noodles cooked to perfection, their sauces homemade (most from scratch) and their pizza is ¹⁰⁄₁₀.
Amazing place for the whole family or a fancy date. Great beer on tap, and wine selection as well!

We moved here from NY a little over 10 years ago, and we love it, but we miss our family, friends, and NY pizza. We tried for 3 – 4 years to find a good, NY style pizza, and eventually gave up. We tried Joey Nova’s for the first time today, at the urging of our next door neighbor who happens to be from NJ. We knew as soon as we walked in and got a whiff of those NY ‘pizza parlor’ aromas, it was going to be good. It smelled like home.
We got the extra large New York style pie, half cheese /​half pepperoni. We wanted to go classic to make sure it was the real thing. The sauce and the cheese and the spices were spot on. It was properly well done with just a little burnt cheese to add so much flavor. The pizza crust had those bubbles. I would have given it 5 stars but the crust was just a touch too thin and they cut the pie into 12 instead of 8 slices. So, the slices weren’t quite big enough to fold in half all the way to the tip of the slice.
We will be back to try the large rather than extra large pie, as the counter staff explained the crust will be a little thicker on the large. We will also ask them to cut into only 8 slices. With these minor adjustments, I believe this will be an almost perfect NY pizza experience right here in SW suburbs. Happy day!

Normally good pizza, tonight it was disappointing.
Our pizza was way over cooked, with sort of a doughy overall appearance. It was strange, where was the cheese and topping? It was dried out, like I said the only place where there was cheese was in the very center and the olives where so minimal it was silly. The pizza was a sort of bland pizza dough with a bit of cheese and burnt. gross!
Alfredo pasta was dried out on top with just some white sauce. I mean it literally looked like some topping was thrown on top of overcooked pasta, not good at all,
it looked nasty and was disappointing.
This was not a good meal at all, bummer :(

This place is incredible! The slices are huge and delicious! Highly recommended and worth the drive if you’re in the cities!

The food is great, the staff is friendly and the place is very family friendly. It’s an «order at the counter and get your number» type place. They have great salads, pasta and sandwiches. I really like the pizza, but for pizza lovers out there you need to know it’s a thin but not crispy crust – some are kind of picky about their pizza. You can always order a slice as big as the plate, or get an entire pizza. They also have a good gluten free option. Want to have a party? I’ve had their catered meals and they are great, too!

Their «Drag it a through the Garden» pizza is the best vegetable pizza I have ever had! Hands down, even better than in Italy!!!
I buy pizzas here for our staff all the time and it’s always delisous. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful.
Try Joey Nova’s and you won’t be disappointed!

Since discovering Joey Nova’s about 2 months ago, I’ve visited about 20 times. The pizza is insane there, along with the pastas and wings. I can’t say enough about Gary and his crew there. Always happy to see me and my party. heck, Gary will even sit down and chat with you about his process. It was interesting to know he knows the DETAILS. Like the PH balance his basil is grown in! Dude is surgical with his craft. I recommend Joey Novas to everyone and I’ve never had someone tell me they didn’t think it was incredible! Keep it up!!!

Not only is the pizza fab-​u-​lous but delivery is always within the estimated timeframe and the drivers are super pleasant — even on Super Bowl Sunday during nasty weather!

Pretty damn good pizza in Excelsior! I would maybe even consider as one of my Twin Cities’ Top 5 pizza joints. It’s definitely better than anything I’ve had in the Southwest area of the metro, in recent memory. My take:

I. FOOD & DRINK
Joey Nova’s serves New York style pizza, which is pretty rare for the Twin Cities. The crust is thin, and stuffing your face with it requires you to fold it like a sandwich. Don’t use a fork and knife; that’s just embarrassing. (Actually, feel free to eat pizza anyway you would like. I’m just an a**hole.) What we tried.
*The Deluxe: Comes with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, diced Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, and Mozzarella with tomato sauce. I mean, you can’t really go wrong with this one.
*Pizza Bruschetta: Baked with Roma tomatoes, onions, fresh basil, Mozzarella and with garlic olive oil sauce. Yum, so good.
*Pepperoni and Sausage: Classics never die.
Pizzas come in medium, large, and extra large. Non-​special pizzas fall under $ 20; specials fall under $ 30.
Honestly, every za tasted delicious, particularly the crispy, airy crust. #carbcity.
II. SERVICE
Food took a bit long to come out (maybe twenty plus minutes for our first pizza), but the servers themselves were very nice.
III. ATMOSPHERE/​DÉCOR
Very family friendly, not too many frills type-​of-​place. It’s old school, and I love it.
IV. PRICES
The pizzas taste great and they don’t skimp out on the toppings, so I think it’s great value. And hey, this pizzas taste delicious.
V. OVERALL
I would love to return in the future!

We’ve eaten here many times since moving here last summer. The pizza is always delicious (the crust is amazing!) and the staff has always been very nice. Love the jazz music they play too!

Ordered a pizza @ 6:15 no pizza by 7:15?! Called. Was told pizza just left the oven. An hour later I realized… oh I ordered a pizza directly from Chicago… They’re flying it in, no wonder it took two hours and cost me nearly $ 30. It was only a XL pizza that most likely flops around like a little Caesars pizza. Not sure of the quality, card was charged, stomach is still empty. :/​#thinkin’aboutDomino’s

Yes, just yes! This Pizza is fantastic and love the size and texture of the crust… I lived in NYC and would eat this over any of their offerings any day of the week. This place is always packed and I love that they do slices for lunch. My only complaints are that they stop letting you order in advance and sit in (nice option with kids) and that they seem to never have any open seating! They take the Belly rewards program and the rewards seem attainable from regular visits. My family definitely enjoy this place as does everyone we share them with.

Great dinner! We had the family dinner of Pizza, pasta and salad and everything was delicious and a great value!

Awesome family restaurant. I love the pizza-​except the sausage, it was a little bland. But every other kind we’ve tried has been fantastic! I love that you order by the slice so everyone gets what they want. Portions are huge! The garlic bread is the best I’ve had.
My husband appreciates the tv that is tuned to football on Sunday’s. Watching the pizzas get made is a kid-​pleaser.
Parking lot has plenty of space and there is a chocolate shop around the corner!

Let’s start with OFF THE HOOK! This pizza was amazing. Considered driving an hour on our last day to grab lunch here before our flight!
The pizza slices were huge and perfect! We both had a side salad and for a pizza place we were impressed! The credit card machines were down, but the staff made up for the rocky start with a stellar meal!

We are from out of town and just moved to excelsior. We went here in search of a go to pizza joint and we hit the mother lode.
Anna was awesome and we had a great experience. We took to go menus and have them on speed dial.

Great pizza ny style. Jalapeños nice and hot. Garlic bread cheese great. Good artisan bread. Top it off one of the cooks gave us half his off menu fish sandwich and IT WAS AWESOME! Add to menu!

I grew up on slices every day after school and family outings to the local pizza joint on Sunday nights. Thats how it was to be a kid on Long Island in the 60s. College years in Boston — more great tradition from joints named Pino’s and Sal’s. So I marry a farmer’s daughter from northern Minnesota and here I am at 60 in the Twin Cities — with a hankerin for a dynamite slice. And whaddya think — here’s Joey Novas !! This is the real deal — old school mozz and oil and crust. And the slices are enormous. When my mom comes out to visit from NY this is her favorite place too — and I m tellin you, it takes me back. This place is a treasure. Don’t miss it.

So we decided that today was going to be pizza night. Came here to the ever so trusty Unilocal to find a spot nearby. No dice, so scrolling through and reading a bunch we decided on this place. My girlfriend is from NY and one particular review sold her on this place. On the drive order we made an order, pretty solid deal was given to us on two pizza. Got there and she saw a pizza laying out and she was in love with the sight already. We got our pizza, ordered a couple cannoli and took off.
Got home, pizza was fantastic, had a good little bite to it, great flavor. Loved it. Cannoli was also fantastic we are going to go back and order off the menu sometime. I was impressed and she felt like she had a taste of home.
