The scones, cakes and daily soup specials are absolutely to die for AND the staff in Excelsior is always super friendly and nice. Love that place!!!

The local area has become quite crowded with independent bakeries, but this one is a definite favourite. Not only for the desserts and cakes, but for pastries and sandwiches. A favourite of my entire family. Outside dining area a bonus.

Best bakery in the Twin Cities! I am addicted to this place as well! I got hooked on the apricot pinwheels and the morning buns… OMG they are so buttery and flakey, they just melt in your mouth and the croissants remind me of Paris so much! Best I have had EVER had locally. They are also one of the few places that make really good rugelah. My husband is from NYC and he gave it the thumbs up. I have never tried their cakes but everything I have tried so far has been incredible! I’m just sad they are closed on Sunday at their Edina location…

I have to admit I am addicted to this place. You can’t go wrong with a croissant and a cup of tea! My favorites include: quiche, croissant sandwich, soups, bran muffin, and cinnamon rolls on weekends.

After reading the reviews I was excited to bite into my box of treats. Sadly I was not impressed. The coconut cupcake was very dry and dense. The macaroons are okay but not impressive, I felt they lacked the creaminess I was hoping for.

Excellent quality baked goods, my faves are chocolate croissants and apricot pinwheels. Consistently good quality and some interesting and tasty soups. Better than most bakeries in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Service has been strangely grumpy at times, but also has been very friendly too. Great place for mid-morning on the weekends.

Delectable treats are easy to come by at Patisserie Margo. The macarons are absolute heaven, coming in such flavors as caramel sea salt(to-die-for), pistachio white chocolate(also to-die-for), rose(understated and delicious), and dark chocolate passion fruit(haven’t tried them, but they look just as enticing as the rest). The cookies are chewy and sweet, and the flavorful butter-cream filling is creamy yet light. After the macarons, we headed for two more delicacies: a chocolate cake with star anise, and a lime curd tart. The chocolate cake was rich and fluffy, and the ganache filling had a perfectly subtle hint of anise. The lime curd tart is my perfect dessert: a crispy, flaky, crumbly crust filled with velvety lime curd. It was better than most lime tarts I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot! The flavors at Margo are amazing, and I suggest trying something new every time you enter. It’s obvious that these bakers know what they’re doing, and put all of the right ingredients together. Their love for the art of pastries pays off. My only disappointment came with our lunch. We ordered a veggie sandwich and a green salad with veggies. Their selection of fresh veggies to put on a sandwich or salad is pretty bleak, including just greens, tomato, carrots, onions, and cucumbers. Given the price we paid for lettuce with some sliced-up carrots, I wish there was more tasty freshness we could have piled on. All in all, though, the service is quick, there were no snafus with our order, and our dessert made us forget all about our dismal vegetable intake!

Some of the best baked goods in the Twin Cities metro. I honestly don’t think there is one stinker in the bakery case. In fact, most of the goodies are so good, they sell out quickly. I love the croissants — so buttery and delicious. And the chocolate croissants — to die for! Whatever you get, make sure to throw in a baguette for good measure. You won’t regret it.

With a name as fabulous & french as Patisserie Margo, I expected it to be a little more dolled up, Frenchy, frou frou than it was, but that said… it was still quite charming! This is basically a coffee shop with a French slant. I had a cappuccino and almond crossiant and they were both done to perfection(aside from the paper cup… why ask if I’m staying or go if I get a paper cup either way?) but I digress. Scones, muffins, pain au chocolate, cinnamon rolls and quiche round out the breakfast menu. They also had some fun, fancy desserts and fresh baked bread. Sidewalk seating lends to the slight European feel. Try it out and don’t miss the lovely fragrance & cosmetic shop across the street, La Petite Parfumerie.
