we are greatly disappointed in gandolfos deli, which, upon its opening several years ago, was wonderful. now it has evolved into a high priced, low quality and quantity, sub-par(excuse the pun!) deli! the sandwiches run aprox. 8 – 9 $ per sub, and for no apparent reason except that they can, so they do! as compared to moe’s across the street, expect to pay much more, and get much less at gandolfos. and as if this isnt bad enough, the main issue we have is the unappreciative, incredibly unfriendly service of the staff. well, not all the staff, the younger students they hire are actually quite lovely. however, there is on middle aged woman who is the maker of the sandwiches in the back and i believe the manager, who is absolutely as cold as ice! she never puts a smile on her face, says inappropriate things to the customers, and seems to be put out when you come to order. it amazes me that she is still there even as business gets more and more sluggish! we had great hopes for this place when it opened and after dealing with her(i dont know her name, but she is always there) and the mediocre food, we will be taking our money and business elsewhere…

Not sure why some of the negatives… Been here a few times and really like it. Huge selection of sandwiches with some unique variations, friendly staff, clean place, and have had a great sandwich each time. Definitely a much better choice than any of the big sandwich franchises.

One visit was enough for me to Gandolfo’s with its New York saturated phony décor, food-service-style sub sandwiches, and total lack of character. The place is for sale, by the way. As is, I’d say it’s worth about as much as A-Rod’s promise that he is not gay and is a selfless fellow. Why the owner/instigator thought a NY sports sandwich business would work here — just north of the Green monster — is unfathomable. Maybe the next owner will convert it to a Montréal poutine shop with Canadien jerseys. That should work, eh?

Good sandwiches, but the salads are kind of nasty. Service isn’t that bad and the free wireless access for customers is a bonus. Really good Italian Gelatti.

I just happened upon this place that is right next to Walgreens just expecting to get a sandwich at lunchtime, I wasn’t expecting to much just something to fill my hunger, what I got was a new favorite sandwich shop. The first thing you notice is that it feels like a franchise and not a great sandwich shop, don’t let this sway you. I ordered a reuben, deli style(extra meat), and was completely and utterly thrown back, this huge sandwich that I was presented was quite possibly the best reuben I’ve ever eaten, but me being a bit skeptical I thought that perhaps it was because I was so hungry, I’d have to take one for the team and come back again to see if that was the case. That rueben left me full for the rest of the day. The next day I headed back at dinner and ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, I was going to go with the half but went whole instead, but I learned from my mistake yesterday and didn’t order it deli style. Once again the presented me with a huge sandwich that didn’t disappoint in the taste department. Most of the time when you order a sandwich from a franchise chain that is packed full of meat it still lacks flavor, not so with Gandolfo’s Deli, the sandwiches are huge(even the half sandwich is big) and are packed with flavor. Price wise, they are a little more expensive than there competitors, if you can actually say that Q or S are true competitors, but in my opinion it was not only worth every penny you will find yourself finishing off the sandwich even if you are full, it is that good. UPDATE — 5÷30÷2012 Unfortunately I can’t stand by my four star rating anymore, Gandolfo’s has changed since the last time I was there and it wasn’t for the better. I understand that custom made sandwiches take time to produce and I am not complaining about the speed but getting a sandwich with wilted lettuce, very little meat and after a very short ride home very soggy bread is really unacceptable. I believe that this will be the absolute last time that I’ll go to Gandolfo’s especially when just about a mile up the road is a much better sandwich.
