My first experiences at the Exton Entenmann’s Bakery Outlet date to the mid-70’s when I was about 7 or 8 years old and it was my favorite place to go. It was my favorite because the Entenmann’s Outlet had this incredible machine for wrapping my mother’s boxes in string that entailed arms swiveling out and spinning round to wrap them in robo-matic glory. it amazed me. As an adult now in my 30’s, I rediscovered the outlet again a few years ago, and I’ve come to love it for the incredible prices. They no longer have the box-wrapping machine, but they do have prices well below retail. Besides a wide variety of Entenmann’s baked products like donuts, strudel, cakes, etc., they also carry Arnold breads, many Thomas’ products like english muffins, bagels & pita, Boboli pizza crusts, Frito-lay snacks, New York Bagel Company bagel chips, and other products. Many of these products are deeply discounted depending on when you go and how long the stock has been available, but it is not uncommon to pay well less than 50% of regular retail prices for a trip consisting of a wide variety of products. When buying, however, bear in mind that it’s an outlet, and like most outlets, many of the products are there because of some defect. For example, some of the Boboli crusts may be cracked. Strudel frosting and filling may not go all the way across the strudel. Some of the doughnuts may be misshapen. Shop carefully and you will not be disappointed. Since we rediscovered the outlet about 4 years ago, we no longer buy bread at retail unless it’s on sale &/or we have a great coupon. It’s rare that even with special offers we can find prices cheaper than the outlet and every trip is worth it.
