I always look forward to a chance to stop in at The Quilt Block. There are constantly new fabrics, books, and patterns. Prices that are competitive with, if not better than, online retailers for high quality designer fabrics and a perfect mix of modern trends and classic staples. Getting to see and feel fabrics before making decisions is so much more enjoyable than just filling an online cart. And enjoying talking about sewing with them while I shop! I love that if they don’t have what I’m looking for, they ALWAYS offer to order it if my project can wait for it to arrive. Can’t wait to go back! Thankfully they don’t even mind my 3 little boys running around and my 4 year old’s insistence on using their bathroom. :)

The fact that I live in Montgomery County and actively drive the 50 minutes or so to go to this store should definitely say something about how much I enjoy it. It’s a really adorable shop with a great selection of high quality, beautiful fabric as well as notions. They have a lot of new samples displayed every time I’m in, so whether you have something in mind when you go there or are looking to be inspired, you’ll leave with everything you need to get your project started. The owners of the store are also what make the Quilt Block such a great place to shop. They’re knowledgeable and friendly without being pushy. They provide great guidance and at the same time let you feel comfortable making the final decisions based on your own tastes. Even as a relative beginner, I never feel intimidated — I know I can go to the Quilt Block for reliable, sound advice. I most recently attended a class to make an «Around the World» quilt. The teacher was really easy to work with and I learned a lot from the class(beyond just how to make that particular quilt). I will definitely be looking to attend other classes here in the future.
