Brande, I was surprised to see your review. I grew up near fair haven where fly by night is located and went here many times and loved every cookie. Service is also amazing! Heck if the owner isn’t there, she still to this day uses the honor system and lets you just put your money in a jar. Very cool house too. Love these cookies!!! Just went this summer again and although I’m a man, I have to say the pms cookies are the best!

I live downstate now but I always make a stop here when passing through. Maybe its the pretty views, the beautifully carved porch, and the fact that I always tend to be upstate during the Renaissance festival season, when musicians practice their flutes nearby, that makes the place seem kind of magical when I’m there. My favorite cookies– birds nest, eclairs, anything involving chocolate are always good when I get them. The other cookies aren’t anything special to me, kind of bland, but maybe that’s because I really just like chocolaty things with cream in them. I seem to recall that whoever works there, possibly the owner, seems to always be unfriendly, but that’s my only complaint really.

After a coworker brought a box of cookies to work one day* I decided to give them a second try in July of ’09. Service was incrementally better but the cookies were equally awful. The Buckeye, which they told me was very popular, was absolutely disgusting. I actually threw half of it out the car window. I don’t know how you mess up sugar and peanut butter dipped in chocolate, but they did it! Greasy and bland are not words I like using to describe cookies. *Might I add that I have no idea why I gave them a second chance? When my coworker brought those cookies in, every one swarmed the box like ravenous dogs, yet when it came time to actually EAT the cookies they were so painfully sugary that more than one person said, «Do you want the other half of my cookie? I can’t finish it.»

BESTCOOKIESEVER! I’d like to be witty and informative, but that really sums it up. These are, indeed, the best cookies in the world. Don’t believe me? Try, ‘em. I have wet dreams about the buckeyes.
