I don’t understand the negative reviews for this place. We have been here numerous times and always receive great service, and the food is always fantastic. The crab cakes are amazing! And the beer selection is superb. It’s so great to be able to have a casual evening out in our neighborhood.

It was a cute quaint place. Small menu. We got a salad and split the pizza of the day and pasta of the day. The pizza wasn’t very good at all but the pasta was super good! I probably won’t go back but it’s worth checking the crowd was older just FYI

Yesterday, my fried and his wife took me out for me birthday dinner(actually Halloween is my birthday) Little did I know until I got there, and saw through the opened curtain lol, that my friends were all seated in a private room. Also, I later discovered, WITHTHEHELPOFJOANTHEOWNER — THANKYOUJOAN, WHOHELPEDMYLOVINGWIFEARRANGETHISSURPRISE. ALSOTHANKYOUTOMYFRIENDWHONOTONLYPICKEDUPTHECAKEBUTMY ‘TOMYHUSBAND’ CARDFORMYWIFELOL. The only disappointment was the busboy — who dropped a dirty dish with food down my wife’s back and acted as though he had no idea what to do next — several of us suggested that he bring out a napkin so we could clean off my wife’s back. Then he attempted to clear her full appetizer plate and had to be asked repeatedly to fill her water glass and bring out enough cake for everyone to get a piece — then brought out way too much and decides to clear, as in dump, the untouched 8 extra pieces. He is extremely young and hopefully in time he’ll learn how to properly be a dependable assistant to a server. I ate here once. It wasn’t a positive experience. I Unilocaled my review. One of the owners texted me and asked if I would give them a second chance? She said she would send me a gift card. That was over a year ago???

Better pack a lunch! You’ll be hungry waiting an hour plus for a hamburger and the slowest bartender in history. The food was decent but not sure if it’s because they starve you in between courses or actually the food. The owner is very removed and could care less. Not even a thought to help with tables or ask the very people paying her bills, «how is your meal, anything I can get you? Thank you for coming in.» Seriously? Over $ 100 for a ridiculous poor experience in service. We waited 20 minutes in the bar for a glass of wine and it was not even busy. How hard is it to sneak up on a glass of wine? Next! Hopefully the next proprietor of this gold mine location will get it.

What strange meal– prices are on the high side for that you would expect a good meal/and quality in the high side. Service was good, but the food was really bad. I am writing this in between my fight with food poisoning from eating raw chicken. The place wasn’t crowded on a Friday night that should of been my first clue. At the bar by the front door there was a complete drunk couple that was dry humping, and loud: it was awkward — I know they need the business but you need to call them a cab. I waited 30 mins for the house dish brick chicken. It was a long wait for only 2 other tables being served at the time of our order. When the meal came to the table, the lighting was dark and I didn’t see that the chicken was raw in the center– not under cooked but raw. The texture of the meat as I ate told me. I held it to the light. Argh– waitress was apologetic — the«chef» or owner should of came out — I guess he was busy with the mighty rush of 3 tables. Thanks Mighty T for the Mighty vomiting Won’t go back PS– the drunk bar flies were parked by my car sitting in on their truck tailgate parked by the front door; mightly humping. Drunk as a skunk, pants down. I am a fan of humping but this was this one was anything but attractive. Another great way to bring in customers– Dinner and a show

I’ve been to Mighty Tavern twice since recently returning to the Sacramento area. The food is fabulous. Ingredients are fresh and tasty, presentation is thoughtful and well-done. Service has been spectacular. We were the only guests sitting outside on the patio for the last hour we were there and we never felt rushed or like we were imposing. Anyone who is nearby and doesn’t treat themselves to this little gem is really missing out.

Ordered the grilled fish sandwich and they said they had gluten free bread to accommodate my allergen. After waiting 15 min for cocktails, 30 for the appetizer, and another 10 for another drink… the waitress said our dinner is ready but the chef didn’t know we needed to accommodate my allergy and said he didn’t have anymore gluten free bread and if I want something it would be another 25 min. At almost 10 at night I have no dinner and they comped one sandwich, the one I couldn’t eat. The waitress felt bad so she is the one getting the star. But bottom line they weren’t honest about accommodating, the drinks were alright but they were slow and slow in telling me about the mishap. Would have helped to know I wouldn’t be getting dinner after waiting for an hour. I really did wanna try the sandwich and the app was good the waitress was genuine. Maybe I’ll try again and hopefully it works out.

Fantastic gem in Fair Oaks. We went here twice in one week! Brunch was amazing! Bottomless mimosas too! Bloody Mary was the best my husband has ever had. Kara the bartender was amazing. We then went back and had dinner! They had amazing bar bites and then we had the burger, which is the reason we went back. Can’t wait to continue to go to this place :)

We had been here twice before and enjoyed it. Last night we took another couple to dinner and things have changed. The menu has changed and was uninspired and there were no specials offered. I believe that when a chef doesn’t augment a smaller regular menu with specials it indicates a lack of interest and the food that came out verified my opinion. My wife’s chef salad was fine but the two burgers that came out were under and the other over cooked and my steak ordered med rare was very rare. The server seemed untrained and unsure of herself. Sad because there aren’t many decent restaurants in the area. We won’t be back.

I just wanted to leave a follow up review to the one I left back in 2013. We are SO happy to see this restaurant not only growing in popularity, but constantly outdoing themselves with their great customer service each time we visit. My husband and I have become regulars ever since The Mighty Tavern opened its doors in our neighborhood. We love sitting at the bar for our meals, or even just a nightcap.(we always seem to make friends at this bar! Ryan keeps everyone entertained, makes incredible drinks, and we love his wine and great beer suggestions. He always brings a sense of fun to everyone who has a seat there.) Chef Christian’s attention to detail, and the passion he has for his work are something we always look forward to experiencing, and I love how he always shares his new menu ideas with us like we are friends and family. I was super excited to celebrate my last birthday at the Mighty Tavern so I could introduce my friends to the MT staff and the awesome, ever-changing and unique menu. As always, we enjoy all the great beers on tap and the unique wine and cocktail list-such a refreshing departure from what you can get anywhere else in the area.

Another visit to Mighty Tavern and even better than the several wonderful times we’ve been there before. Christian, now head Chef, is so creative with his use of in-season fresh vegetables, fruit and even meat. Perfect swordfish, perfect crab cakes, fantastic bacon wrapped asparagus starter, and luscious not too sweet blackberry sorbet. Only thing not a ten was the cookie accompanying the sorbet.(My daughters Rosemary shortbread is vastly superior). And Michelle is a delightful server, attentive without hovering. From our greeting(with no judgment as we arrived on a Sat night without reservations), to the attentive bar tender, to the reasonable total on the check, it was a 5-star experience! What a gem!

Ryan the bartender is a star! Super knowledgable and makes a superb cocktail! Especially if you like rye and bourbon! The food is great! My bf and I always sit at the bar and get bar bites! And have had dinner on the patio out back as well. Great atmosphere on the weekends and weekdays! Kids are welcome too although it’s more of an adult place. Plus the music they play through the speakers is always great!

Another good experience at Mighty Tavern… and a somewhat unusual twist. Both our host and our waiter thanked us for coming to the restaurant. We thought it was a nice and sincere touch, as I can’t remember ever being thanked for going to a restaurant before. Our waiter, Archie, did an excellent job… he really knew the menu, and his pace was perfect. Ballast Point Sculpin IPA on tap. Outstanding!

We walked in to this place thinking it would be a British style pub. Being a Brit I needed a second home and the word Tavern fooled me. I was unshaven, wearing scruffy clothes and a dirty baseball cap. The ambience of this place is one of the upper middle crusty types. It’s the, ‘Ya ya, reeeally”, kind of crowd. I’m used to the, «eeeeee said what? What a plonker», kind of crowd. So anyway, we plopped ourselves at the bar ordered a hamburger and had a few brews. They have a good selection of craft and mainstream beers. The hamburger was outstanding! I was surprised at the bill because it was bloody expensive and I hadn’t even got a buzz on! Saying that, I’d come here again, in my baseball cap(cause I really don’t give a toss) to sample more of the beers and cocktails. The bar tender is a nice chap and seems to know what he’s talking about. He used to work at the Shady Lady so his cocktails can be lethal. Check em out! Why one star dropped? Cause their veggie dishes are non existent which caused my Misses to dislike the place, meaning I can’t take her there unless it’s a last resort. Update: I’ve been to here a few times since my original review. I can’t fault the food. It has always been fantastic. I can understand why the bar has one guy. It just doesn’t get that busy. This place has the best beers in town and the best burger in town. I’m not exaggerating. Still not giving it 5 stars as the veggie dishes are limited.

Was drawn to this restaurant because they had some unique Specials, but we visited on a Sat without any Specials. Overall– THISPLACEISOVERRATED. SUREDIDN’T TASTELIKEAN $ 88MEAL. SERVICEWASALSONOTTOPAR. Continue reading for details. Lesson learned – just because it cost a lot don’t mean it taste good. Ambiance: The dinning room was upscale and lined with wood paneling. Fireplace added a little charm too. Down side was the room was cold for a winter day(35 deg outside). Service: Was OK, but considering entrees were $ 30 ea, it was terrible. Water was never full, always had to ask for bread refill, butter was hard and not spreadable. The two servers were fumbling over each others moves. It was like the three stooges. The hose was wearing freaking jeans and a casual button down shirt. He looked like someone off the street. Food: My friend had the Mighty Bouillabaisse and I had the Rib-Eye Steak. I tasted her Bouillabaisse with an assortment of seafood. It was fishy like how it suppose to taste but it was drastically under seasoned. My belief with food is every bite should be memorable with strong flavors. That Bouillabaisse had quality ingredients but was worst of all BLAND. $ 32 The temperature of the 11 oz steak was perfect rare with a good sear, but the demi-glaze sauce was nothing special. Again BLAND. So bland that I attempted to add salt but the salt was rock hard in the shaker and had prevented me from seasoning it. LOL. The Mashed potatoes, broccoli rabe & wild mushroom sides were nothing special either. They basically cooked them without seasoning. Broccoli rabe tasted and looked like Chinese Broccoli(Gai Lan). Overall you can save your money by buying a cut of steak from a butcher, throw it on the George Forman, and season it the way you want and taste better than this BLAND $ 29 meal.

I’ve now had the pleasure of eating here a couple of times, and I will say the food I have tasted is impeccable. I’ve also stopped by for drinks and the cocktails are awesome too — Flight 19 anyone? — gin and delishiousness in a glass with a big ice ball, who could ask for more? My evening meal was a set menu for a private party where they discussed the menu with the planner and came up with a couple of options, I had deep fried hallumi, stuffed sole with lemon butter and a dessert. Wonderful! However, my group of ladies who«do brunch» each month had breakfast there this weekend, and it was wonderful. I had the tri-tip hash… and it was amazing. Normally the rule is that we try to go to places where the mimosas are bottomless, which weren’t provided by the mighty tavern, but this, for me was the only flaw. Personally, i find the drinks pricey, but as the food is tremendous, I wouldn’t overlook this place. I would love it to be a jumping local venue, like Roxy on Fair Oaks Blvd, or some of the midtown places, but the area hasn’t really caught on and instead of «bright young thangs» it does attract the«we were once bright young thangs» — no disrespect meant, but I would like to see this be the local hip place, not the local hip replacement place, sorry at my bad joke, but it does seem to attract an older customer, who value the quality it provides. Folks, this place needs to be bursting at the seams with clientele, and is a genuine addition to the neighborhood. I’d say if you don’t use it, you may lose it, and that would be a great loss indeed.

So admittedly I was thrown off by the name of this place and was expecting a tavern, and maybe it was the particular night we went, but wow… walked into Mighty Tavern expecting a casual young crowd and atmosphere, and encountered a largely 40s-and-up crowd and a posh dining atmosphere. Haha, oops. Guess we should’ve looked at Unilocal photos before rolling in there wearing punk-ish attire. Anyway since the restaurant was mostly filled with upper middle class seniors and we weren’t feeling dressed well enough for the gorgeous dining room, we instead opted for a few drinks at the bar. The bartender was busy preparing copious amounts of Friday night drinks, but still took the time to politely greet us, make drink suggestions and take our orders. M.T. is a lovely venue to be sure, and we hung out for about an hour in the bar and enjoyed the ambience and electic soundtrack. Gotta love a bar where the bartender is dressed all old-timey with a newsboy hat and vest, the bar looks super lux, and there’s Justin Timberlake and R&B blasting overhead! We had a beer each and then split a Kilty Pleasure cocktail(scotch, ginger liquer, OJ and chocolate bitters). I don’t even like scotch but it was SO dang yummy(and had me drunk flushed in minutes, haha!). We were even given a mini charcuterie plate at the bar for free– we appreciated the nice touch! The bar tab wasn’t even that much for such a nice place. I’m only giving it 3 stars for now, because I’m only rating the bar and beverages. We’ll definitely come back for a meal when we’re better dressed– some of the menu items had me drooling!

CHEERS! Nice Tavern Where Everyone Knows Your Name… SITREP …on the East Side of Town! That’s right. This is ain’t on the Downtown-Grid! You’re going to have to make a bit of a trek to lovely Fair Oaks to enjoy this beautiful establishment. Once the location of La Boheme, the Mighty Tavern has set up shop in this very accessible location just off of Sunset Blvd just north of it’s Highway 50 junction. THESETUP I was quickly welcomed & greeted at the door by Dennis, the owner, who immediately attended to my desire to be seated at the bar. The bar is an elegant, well-furnished, and beautiful hardwood bar with seats on three(3) sides. The Bar Area is actually separated physically from the Dining Area by a large wall of wood & glass — though we could see into the dining area very easily, both areas were sound-proofed from the other. Further in the back is a large beautiful banquet room that is just waiting for some special occasions to fully engage all of it’s size and beautiful resources. THEBARECO-SYSTEM It was here that I quickly made friends of the denizens of this magnificent place that, like me, enjoyed surrounding the bar and creating our own social circle. There was Kurt, Roger, Emily, Michelle, and many other individuals, and we were all kept very refreshed by the very talented bartender Rene who could make ANYTHING we wanted. I wanted a Mojito, and Rene razzle-dazzled me with an incredible & delicious Mojito: Most of the mixed drinks were fixed at $ 7.50 and were very generous & delicious. I easily pay twice as much for the same size drink(with less«buzz») in the Bay Area. SWEETSWEETDELIGHTS! From all the delicious salads and burgers and steaks that everyone in our group was enjoying, there was nothing that nobody didn’t enjoy. But the final delicious bite of the evening for me was the incredible Fresh Strawberry Crème Fraiche Sorbet & Cookies that was made by Emily’s own hands that afternoon, and served with panache by Michelle to me that evening. Delicious Delicious Delicious! HISTORYANDLAUNCHOFNEWESTABLISHMENT Owner Dennis provided me some great insights about this location. La Boheme, the predescessor-restaurant, had been at this location for about 20 years. About 10 years ago it started to wane as the patron demographics started to get older and more homogenous, starting to lack variety of new patrons. The Mighty Tavern just opened literally last week on May 27. They are currently only serving dinner from 5pm-10pm. They will soon launch a lunch menu, and perhaps a breakfast menu in the future. These business opportunities remain to be seen. STAFF I must give a shout-out to owner Dennis for his courtesy and insights about his restaurant. Rene is an outstanding bartender and I look forward to heading back to enjoy some more of his«spirited”-concoctions. I absolutely adore server extraordinaire Michelle for all of her presentations, and enthusiastic introductions to many things about Mighty Tavern. Emily gave me constant tongue-gasms with her delicious Strawberry Sorbet that she makes fresh every day, along with her many duties as Pastry Chef. They all ROCK! THELOWDOWN For an absolutely delicious & divine time enjoying good food & spirits, the Mighty Tavern is definitely worth the trip to check out!
