I’ve been with Dr. Phan for a while now and have followed her from her Fair Oaks Shopping Center location to out in the Clifton area and finally to Fairfax. Coming from Vienna, the Fairfax location is convenient and certainly closer to me than her others so that is a plus. I have found she is very quick and thorough with her work. Her prescriptions are always right on and while other doctors have usually put mine to too strong (i get headaches if my contact prescriptions or glasses prescriptions are too strong), her’s never require me to go see her again and change them. I knocked down a star because yes, she can be a little pushy with buying contacts from her, which I never have done. I always go elsewhere to buy them and have found better prices. She does do a price match though. They also have this online appointment request service now too which was never there before. Definitely a plus now and makes it more convenient.

Our family of five has been going here since Dr. Phan opened AP Eye Care and went to Wright Eyes before. I will admit that Dr. Phan has not yet grown on me like Dr. Wright has. Just something about him you gotta love, but the staff and everything else is the same and they have added WiFi, which is nice. Dr. Phan is a fine optometrist. My three kids and my wife and I have all seen her and four of us wear glasses.
We have had to get checkups and fittings out of sequence (i.e., out of pocket) at times and Jean was always good and finding us discounts on frames. We’ve always been able to drop by and have Jean adjust our glasses when they get out of whack (I’m worse than my kids). They seem to be good at adjusting schedules for emergencies as well. They send out post cards reminding you of your check ups.
Unlike Tracy C.‘s review, they have always been extremely diligent at checking insurance and letting me know what is covered and when, so I’m surprised by her experience there.
It’s easy to to get to and although you may not find parking right out front, there is always parking available close by in the office park (within about 100 ft).
I have recommended Dr. Wright to my friends and they continue on with Dr. Phan with no complaints.

This eye clinic used to be Wright Eyes, which was headed by the very excellent Dr. Dean Wright. Dr. Phan took over the business when Dr. Wright retired, but my family and I stayed on because I was assured that they would still accept Tricare. I set two general check-​up appointments, approximately six weeks apart, for me and my daughter. Before each appointment, they happily accepted our insurance information with nary a comment. It wasn’t until we received our bills that we learned that Dr. Phan did NOT in fact accept Tricare. Dr. Phan was listed as a Tricare in-​network provider, and I was repeatedly assured of this. When we last spoke to Tricare, we were told that this wasn’t an isolated case and that Dr. Phan had stated she has no intention of becoming a Tricare provider because «they don’t pay me enough.» Had I known this, I definitely would have found another provider. Dr. Phan spent the majority of each appointment trying to convince me to order contact lenses from her. Not once did she mention not accepting Tricare, even though she was RIGHT THERE when we checked in with our insurance information. I do plan to file a grievance over Dr. Phan’s shady tactics. Dr. Wright’s active duty/​retiree/​dependent patients who remained with the clinic should beware.
