Went here recently with three of my frds ordered thai green curry i think most common in thai cuisine… but was horrible it was watery as if there was no coconut milk in it and it smelled so bad and this new place looks pretty but food nothing compared to the best of thai which resided there before… So not worth it… i guess this place is dead for me…

A-freaking-dorable! Best of Thai just re-branded as Sisters Thai, so don’t be confused by the sign outside that still says Best of Thai. Doesn’t matter what you call this place, it’s the best Thai I’ve found in Fairfax. The décor inside is like a cute shabby chic café/bookstore. The waitstaff was wonderfully attentive. Best of all — three of us had an amazing feast for $ 50! We sampled the green curry with shrimp — perfect spice level while still being flavorful, and they were generous with the shrimp. We also had the crab fried rice, which was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. I don’t do meat, but my dining companions said the beef pad see ew was also really good. This is definitely my new go-to Thai place! Note: as of 1÷26÷13 they did not have a liquor license, but I believe the waitress said they didn’t have it «yet»…giving me hope that they soon will. Also, they deliver for free within 3 miles of the restaurant.

I got the Pad Thai Chicken here and I found it very good. If you love Pad Thai like me, then you will like this place.

My fiancée and I came here on a Saturday at 3:30pm when most restaurants were closed during the mid-day. I remember seeing good reviews in the past, so we wanted to give them a try. We got there and were the only customers. Service was excellent and the food was delicious! I had the Pad Thai with chicken and my fiancée had it with shrimp. We both were very satisfied. I think this is one of the better Thai restaurants in the area, although we were equally satisfied with Courtside Thai just down the street.

This is my favorite little Thai place in Fairfax city. Their food is generally more flavorful than Courtside Thai right down the street, and their spicy food is spicier. + + Moderate prices, parking right across the street, delivery if you live nearby, small quiet location that isn’t crowded often. Great date night spot or a quick treat for lunch if you enjoy good Thai food.

I haven’t ordered anything that hasn’t agreed with my tastebuds but my favorite would be the tum yum soup. Sweet, sour, slightly spicy, spectacular =D I’ve found it difficult to find a nicely prepared Tom Yum Soup, with the perfect amount of sour and spicy — but Best of Thai has it’s recipe down! The restaurant is usually slow, so it’s a little bit odd sitting in the dining room all by yourself during lunch hour so I normally get my delicious soup and drunken noodles to-go. The owner is very pretty and friendly, and the waitstaff makes you feel right at home! I’d definately return since they advertise their pad thai as the best in town, and I’d like to see what all the hooplah is about!

This was my first visit to Best of Thai. Why, why, why didn’t I use the pad Thai as my litmus test, as I normally do? Especially when they advertise«best pad Thai in town.» Or even drunken noodles? Why? Because I was craving rice instead of noodles. I got the panang curry, which didn’t look or taste like any other panang curry I’d ever eaten. I wondered if they messed up and gave me mussamun curry, but it wasn’t exactly like mussamun I’ve had, either. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t delicious, either. Service was fine. Parking’s an issue.

I love this place. I’ve been a handful of times and every time I’ve gone my taste buds were blown away. I am very glad that my first Thai food experience was here. Thus far, I’ve ordered Pad Prig Khing(#26) three times and Goong Prig Pow once. I also tried their Sticky Rice w/Mango, and it was delicious. Definitely give it a try, and the service is great too!

My girlfriend asked me if I had eaten here. I said no, and she was like, «you have to try it!» So we went. It wasn’t crowded and we were served very timely. The meal was good and the prices affordable. i have been several times since and love every time I eat there.

One of my favorite places for Thai in Northern Virginia. The staff is always very sweet. I tend to order the same thing – coconut soup and chicken pad thai – but it has been perfect every time! :)

I went here the other night to pick up Thai food for dinner. I have to say the food was actually surprisingly good. I got the drunken noodles, seafood fried rice, and the pad thai. I said to make all the dishes as spicy as possible and they actually DIDIT. Most places won’t make my dishes to the spiciness that I want even after stating that I want my dishes EXTRAEXTRAEXTRAEXTRASPICY! I had to wait a few minutes even though I called in ahead of time but it wasn’t too bad. The waiter gave me some water to sip on as I looked at the décor of the place. There wasn’t much to look at and was a little dark but it could’ve been because I came there 20 minutes prior to closing time. I guess the only downside I have with the place is the parking. You have to park either in the gravel lot 2 blocks down or in the public parking about a block in a half the other way. I would definitely come back again for the food as long as they make it as spicy as I request.

I had a girls night dinner here, and for the V-day holiday, I was so happy that it wasn’t crowded like a chain restaurant would be. We were seated right when we walked in. It’s a quaint little place and the décor sets the mood. The lighting is a little dimmer, too, but it’s not like you need to read more than the menu. I had a hard time deciding because they had a good mix of foods of various spice levels and VERY affordable prices, so there was something for every Thai taste. For my appetizer, I had the dumplings. There were 5 of them on the plate, with the sauce in the middle. They were really good and went fast. Not too spicy, not too bland. My entrée was the honey roasted duck with cabbage, and I was blown away, honestly. Duck can be dry in the wrong cook’s hands, but it was perfect here. Adequately seasoned – delicious. I don’t know what more I can say. For dessert, I had fried ice cream. It was light and a good finish to the meal. The outside of it was sweet like a doughnut, but not too sweet. The service was skimp, but I don’t need a whole lot of hovering, anyway. When they were at the table, they were very attentive and catered to us. My friend asked for the cashew chicken without cashews, but with the spiciest sauce they had, and they changed the dish just to give her what she wanted. So, as I type this review, eat my cup of this restaurant’s leftovers and scrape the bottom of it, I realize that, hands down, I’m coming back to this place ASAP.

This place was all around good, so it gets 4 stars. I have seldom had bad Thai food, so they are getting the stars for the atmosphere, cleanliness, and very friendly staff. Not to mention that house wine was good! I had Tom Ka soup with shrimp and masaman curry shrimp. Both were delicious and the shrimp was high quality. My guest had the chicken pad Thai and was very happy with it. I would eat here again.

I love this place. Everything about it. I met the owner at Artie’s bar 2007 and since she was so nice, seemed to be a genuine person(and very cute) I had to check it out. True to form, it was a great authentic Thai dinner with great service.

This is THEPLACE for a spicey beef salad, if you haven’t had one — go get one! IT is so delicious! The Tom Ka was not great but it was okay. My Thai iced tea was as to be expected. Busy little place. Worth the effort to find parking.

Having just moved to Fairfax, I was anxious to try out the local cuisine in downtown. Using Unilocal,I found this place and was anxious to try out some good Thai food. I went in on a Friday night at 7pm local time, and the place was empty. Uh-oh, I thought — this isn’t a good sign. However, I noticed many people coming in to pick up to-go orders, and so I felt more at ease. I order the Ka-Pow with Chicken, and it surprisingly came very quickly. The dish was sizzling fresh and tasted great. It had just the right spiciness — hot(almost Thai-hot) and delicious! It went great with the Amstel Light I was drinking, and I have to say I savored every bite. The price of the menu was surprisingly cheap for the area — $ 9.95 for the meal(another $ 3.50 for the beer, but that’s my vice). I enjoyed it. Since this is pretty close to my new home, I’ll probably come back — not really to dine-in(nothing sucks worse than being the only one in the restaurant, and eating alone — quite sad). I’ll do take-out frequently. Now I’ll have to try the other Thai restaurant in town… but I’ll come back to this place again.

Despite all my time in Old City Fairfax I never knew this place existed until recently. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but based on the good reviews I was anxious for some good thai. The menu was impressively inexpensive, with most dinner entrees being right around $ 10. Appetizers were also reasonably priced so we got the calamari, which was more like an onion ring made with calamari. Kinda tough, flavorless and heavily battered. Looked and tasted fake and frozen. For entrée I ordered my usual drunken noodle, extra spicy. While the noodles were cooked perfectly, the flavor wasn’t really there and it was pretty oily. Spice levels were very good though. And another complaint is the service. The girl was friendly, but I absolutely cannot stand it when waitstaff act so sheepish and submissive. She was like terrified to make eye contact with me and made completely awkward attempts at removing dirty dishes or refilling water. I felt like I was a sleeping dog that she was scared of awakening. I appreciate the attempt at politeness, but come on, act like a normal person. With the excellent Courtside Thai just a block over, I highly doubt that I’ll be returning, but I may look over the menu some more and if they have a dish that catches my eye I might come back to try it.

Best of thai? Thats saying a lot seeing how its located right down the street from courtside thai! And by far it was not the best of anything. Maybe its just because i was still recovering from my lacrosse teams’ crushing loss(20 – 1) in our first game, but i feel with how hungry i was, anything would have have tasted better. We started with calamari, which was allright, but not nearly as fried as i would like. The rings were thick with clamari and very tough to bite through. Therefore i looked like a fool stuffing the whole thing in my mouth. Then came my typical pad see ewe, but this time i got chicken. BIG mistake. The chicken was way over cooked and tough. Seems to be a theme. Well the flavors were good, but each one of the parts of the meal had a separate taste. It was not well blended at all. And if we learned anything from Bobby Flay’s Pad Thai throwdown, its that the flavors need to blend and not be distinct. Was it disgusting? No. The only reason i’m giving it 3 stars is because its pretty cheap($ 10 for an entrée that was large). but i dont think i have any need to come back with courtside thai literally right around the corner.

This is located in downtown fairfax and they do deliver. The inside is comfortable and has a lounge type feeling. The workers are nice and the owner is friendly. The food is uncomparable. You can definitely taste every flavor. And if you’re really into spicy foods which I do crave everynow and then, you can ask for Thai spicy(aka really spicy) and you get it. It’s not too hot to where you can’t eat it but spicy enough to satisfy your tastebuds. I discovered this place last summer(of 2008) and has been a frequent customer. I tried several thai places and this is one of my favorite restaurants.

Thai food is like chocolate for me — I crave it ALL the freakin’ time. I don’t know what it is… the exotic spices? The grease? MSG? LSD? PMS? The world may never know. Whatever it may be, when the craving hits, this is where I usually get my fix… if I’m in the area, of course. It’s one of the cute little restaurants along University Drive that contributes to the very«old town» vibe of this part of Fairfax. That being said, parking sucks because of all the traffic… but there is a mini-lot next door and across the street. Anyway, the restaurant is small, intimate, family-owned, and completely affordable. I believe that I’ve ordered almost every chicken, noodle, and curry dish on the menu… all of which have never failed to leave me Thanksgiving Day stuffed, while still somehow longing for more. My absolute favorite dish though? Hands down, the penang chicken curry. The service is super quick and incredibly attentive. I remember once coming here after taking a much needed two-week Thai food hiatus. The hostess was pleasantly surprised upon my arrival… HOSTESS: «Oh, miss! Where have you been? Are you okay?» That’s when I knew I had a serious problem. But I can’t help it… I’m totally addicted. Try it once, and you soon will be too.
