We dined there today and was very happy with their lunch buffet. I especially enjoyed the goat curry. All of the dishes were authentically seasoned. The buffet had a wide range of selections that would satisfy anyone who enjoys this culture’s food. The service was amazing; too. We will be back!

Food is decent. Why is the butter chicken so sweet though? Overpriced Indian food and small portions. We ordered takeout and paid $ 3 for a Coke. I thought I would get a bottle of soda. What I got was a FLAT fountain soda in a styrofoam coffee cup(see picture). The lid was not even closed all the way and the soda was spilling! I was so disgusted and shocked, I poured it into the sink. I will not order from this establishment again based on principle. How cheap can a restaurant get with soda? Had I known I would get jipped on soda, I would have driven to the store to get my own bottle!

This place is A-mazing! For being the very first Indian restaurant I have even eaten at I would like to say that this was a great first experience. The restaurant is heavily decorated with drapery and dark red mood lighting. The aroma of spices and incense fill the restaurant as soon as you walk in. The seating is comfortable and spacious with couches and pillows. The waiters are attentive and very friendly. We ordered the samosas and garlic naan(both were incredibly delicious-make sure to use both sauces on everything). I ordered the aloo gobi and my boyfriend ordered the butter chicken. Both our orders came with fragrant rice and more of the addictive sauces. The chicken was tender and flavorful(according to my boyfriend) and the aloo gobi was so delicious. The cauliflower was tender and the potatoes were soft but not mushy. If you love tons of spices(not necessarily spicy) and many flavors in every bite then this restaurant will please your tastebuds.

These are the only guys who deliver Indian in Vienna, so we tried them out even though they are also the most EXPENSIVE. The portions were incredibly small. The food varied greatly in quality. Fantastic lamb korma. Delicious tikka masala sauce, but chicken was dried out. There was no excuse for the Alu Gobi, which was good, to fill half of a little take out container. The garlic Naan was undercooked, small, and awful.

My rule of thumb for rating Indian Restaurants is the tenderness or toughness of the lamb. Using this index Curry Mantra passes with flying colors. I ordered the Shahi Korma and the Spicy Lamb Masala. Both were excellent with lamb you could cut with a spoon. I would have given Curry Manta a 5 rating if the price hadn’t been so high. Both dishes were $ 19.00, which is a bit higher than I prefer. At $ 16 it would have been a better buy for the money. One thing I suggest you don’t miss is the Shahi Naan. This is a sweet, dessert-like bread that is delicious and the closest I’ve found to Peshwari Naan that I learned to love in Trinidad. I’m kicking myself because I didn’t get an extra order to take home. In summary, very good food they comes at a higher than usual price.

I’m taking it down a notch from my previous review as our last several delivery orders have been considerably lighter on the protein while the price(and everything else — taste, service, speed) has remained the same. I still like it but it is time to take another survey of the Indian options in the area.

I was very impressed with the food and the service. We had a party of 7 and they accommodated some special requests very courteously. I work very close by and I am looking forward to coming back to try the lunch buffet.

Love this place! We’ve always had a positive and delicious experience here. Family friendly, we have been bringing our son since he was born(now 4.5yo). My husband loves their lamb vindaloo, and I love their chicken tikka masala. The portions are good, and prices are fair, especially with their wine menu. Whenever we want an enjoyable dining experience — tasty food, friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, family friendly, overall an experience we can depend on — we go here!

Excellent customer service, very polite, warm and welcoming. The décor is great. Order Samosa for appetizer, hot and tasty, come in 3 pieces. Also have Mango Kulifi and gulab jamun as dessert cuz I can’t help it. Both are a bit too sweet for me but both taste amazing. Garlic naan is ok, I have better. Not a big fan of shahi naan much, taste more like a dessert for me. The chicken tikka masala is SUPERDUPERTASTYANDYUINMY. Just kinda expensive for a little portion for the price of $ 17– but it’s so good though. The cleanness of the restaurant is on point. 3 stars over all.

It was my second time coming here and I thought I’d never say this but… I thoroughly enjoyed Indian food! My friend and I ordered their Butter Chicken and Shrimp Masala. Mm they were both so good but their dish/sauce looked identical to one another. Meh, as long as it’s yummy I don’t mind I suppose. Oh and can’t forget about the Garlic Naan bread! It’s delicious with the curry sauce. All of the staffs were very friendly and one in the suit asked if my friend and I were from New York because of the way we dressed(assuming that he likes our style, lol) so that was another plus.

The food was excellent. We all enjoyed the meals. Spice levels were as described. I had the paneer makhani which is one of my favorite dishes and I loved it. Husband got the chicken biriyani which had a nice spice level. Friends had a goat and chicken dish that looked good. We all had some leftovers which was nice too. Service was uneven. And I found a piece of plastic wrap in my food. The server was apologetic but did not offer any compensation. While not necessary would have made it much nicer. They also mixed up our credit card orders. Fixed it but never had that happen before. The décor was nice, ok for casual, a date or family gathering.

Came hear for a lunch buffet and loved the simplicity of the place and service. We fell in love with the food also. We love homey Indian food that exploit our taste pallets and this place just did that. The food is a A+ service is an A+ Décor is an A I never leave Indian restaurant reviews. But this one deserves it

We very much enjoyed our dinner here. On Friday and Saturday evenings they have live music. Which was enjoyable but a little too loud. We enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, the mixed grill and the naan with the cheese raisin and nuts(sooooooo good!). We also found the wine and beer list to be a great value. We will be back! Great meal!

The food was okay, the chicken had some fat and a few hard chunks in it, cartilage I guess. Here’s why it’s only 3 stars, and maybe it should have been 2. They took well over an hour to deliver, the side of garlic naan($ 4) is just one measly piece of naan(I’ve never had an order be just one piece, especially for that cost!), and the rice while good was far from the best I’ve had and was bland. Summary — don’t order for delivery and expect to get small portions for the cost.

My first impression of this place was very good. It is brightly colored and the staff greeted us right away and were friendly. We started off with the Bhelpuri, which had a nice presentation and flavorful. We then ordered the Shrimp Masala and the Paneer Makhani. Both were sooo good and it was very filling. The paneer makhani had cheese blocks that have a similar texture to tofu that I really like. The servers checked in on us and were very hospitable. I would come again.

Lunch buffet was $ 11.99 on weekdays. There were salad, two types of rice, plenty of vegetarian options and three chicken dishes(butter chicken, tandoori chicken and pickled chicken) and two types of desserts. The buttery naan was delicious. The tandoori chicken was spicy. Everything else I tried was very good. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is divided into two separately dining areas. One side of the room could be used for private parties. Definitely a good lunch option.

Decided to stay in and order delivery from here tonight… been to the restaurant itself and liked the food so why not do delivery… So ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan , and Aloo Gobi garlic naan is a must have with your meal it’s full of flavor and very good not your typical very chewy naan but naan done right Butter chicken is my go to at this place packed with flavor and very tender chicken and so nooommmm nooommmmmmm The Aloo Gobi sautéed dish of goodness full of potatoes green peas and cauliflower with tomatoes ginger and very good spices you can definitely order it with the spice level you are comfortable with also … So if you aren’t into the burning love or want a bit of burn or no burn this dish is for you without sacrificing flavor… Yes only downside of ordering delivery is the long 30 – 40 min wait but hey that’s what you get if you don’t want to go out after a long day at the office.

I will keep this one simple Food: 5 Service: 3 – 4 Price: 5 Décor: 4 – 5 By far, this is my favorite Indian restaurant in NoVA. The food contains fresh ingredients and the meats always appear hand-trimmed(personal pet peeve is to have cartilage or gristle on served portions, fine for flavoring). Having never been to India, I dare not say the flavors are ethnically true to region, but they are absolutely brilliant and palate pleasing. As soon as the food is cooked it is brought tableside, so expect a minute of blowing and wafting before you can dig in. I love that they have cloth napkins and table cloths and service dishes are direct from India. The wait staff are good, but the interaction is limited and often it will be a different waiter each time. Every waiter I’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant has been male, true to this location as well(not sure if this is just who applied to the open positions or if this is the cultural tradition). Either way, I do wish the staff would engage more(literally all conversation was business: what is your order, do you want a box, thank you). The décor is awesomely Indian down to a random lady with a backlit head in the center above the kitchen welcoming you. The walls are red, there is a water feature, aquarium and artwork of famous Indians. The artwork is what I’d expect and what I like to see in a traditional Indian restaurant. Check-in on Unilocal and 10% off.

Ladies and Gentlemen!!! You don’t know what you are missing. The service, ambiance, and food are magnificent. We came for the lunch buffet which only cost $ 12(before discount). Upon entering we were greeted and was seated promptly. The variety of the food was good. I tried everything especially the Butter Chicken and veggie fritters. It was my first time eating rice pudding and I look forward to eating it again. I was so happy that my colleagues were pleased with my choosing of this restaurant. Curry Mantra thank you for the great service. Oh and the bathroom was clean and stocked with products.

I rarely give 1s, but between giving a 1 and a 2, Curry Mantra deserves a 1. I’ve eaten here four or five times in the past year, and my opinion has gone downhill quickly. On my most recent visit, I noticed some health and safety issues around the lunch buffet that are worth mentioning. First, some of the dishes that were supposed to be hot(e.g., chicken, rice) were either just barely warm or even cool. This is dangerous practice with food that is sitting out for several hours. Second, the staff were very slow to replace the food in the buffet, and when they did, they mixed new food with old by dumping the new food in rather than switching out the tray with a new, clean tray of food. Third, the cold dishes(e.g., rice pudding) were not actually kept cold — they were closer to room temperature. Not appropriately regulating the temperature of food on the buffet makes it easy for bacteria to thrive. The water they served me was lukewarm(no ice was provided), and I had nearly finished my plate of food when a server finally brought the naan, which I just waved off at that point. I checked the health inspection reports for the past year, and they’ve received numerous critical violations, some of which are still unresolved(e.g., there is no sneeze guard for the buffet). Judging by the lack of attention to food safety in the buffet and what I read from the health inspection, it’s clear that they do not place a priority on customers’ safety and preventing food illnesses. Eat at your own risk.
