I know this is mostly an Indian grocery store, but this is now the only place I come to for my spice needs. Why? The bottom line is that the prices are better(if you’re willing to buy the spices in bags instead of glass spice jars). Just yesterday, we debated buying garam masala powder at H Mart since we were already there($ 4.50 for a small amount), but we held out and went to Daily Spices. At Daily Spices, we got twice as much for $ 2.69. We also picked up a bag of cumin powder for $ 2.79 — WAY cheaper than any grocery store I go to. We do also occasionally get our Indian food needs met here. Most weekends, you can pick up some fresh samosas from the front counter. You can also buy a lot of frozen and refrigerated Indian foods(some of which I’m pretty sure they stock from Costco, judging by the Kirkland organic milk they sell). They also sell 5 pound buckets of yogurt for some ridiculously low price like $ 8. They also sell a small amount of produce, which is generally but not always more expensive than H Mart. For example, I was surprised to find they were selling tomatoes for only $ 1/pound, which is pretty cheap for wintertime.

We are regular customers to this place for over a couple of years now. We’ve done the price comparison and it is reasonable if you know what to pick. What you shouldn’t expect is fresh groceries to the standards of a Giant or Safeway. They are well stocked with Indian spices, masalas and a very good choice of frozen vegetables and prepackaged meals. There is a whole array of rice and atta flours to choose from and they are competitively priced. I love the enormous yoghurts they sell since we consume a lot of it! The customer service is very good as well as long you steer clear of the ‘lady of the store’ who seems perpetually irritated. I don’t think it’s directed to who you are and it’s just she being herself! It’d be a shame not to mention it because the rest of the staff go out of your way to help you. So, if you chance upon this happy soul, just mind your business and get the hell out or she’d make sure you don’t go back.

When planning an authentic, homemade Indian feast, it’s probably a good idea to find an Indian grocery to pick up some authentic ingredients. Daily Spices is a small, presumably family-run, Indian grocery which, from their website, also caters to a Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Middle Eastern and likely Malaysian and Indonesian customer base. That said, the preponderance of their inventory was imported from India. While small in square footage, to my untrained eye, Daily Spices seemed to pack a wide variety of stuff into their limited, logically organized space. Fresh produce, spices galore(which really filled the store with a pleasant aroma), bags of jasmine and basmati rice, frozen pre-made Indian dinners and naan, Indian snacks, and DVDs with what I’m sure were big Bollywood blockbusters. The staff was helpful in answering the girlfriend’s questions regarding a couple of bags of dried chili peppers from their large selection of various chilies. There may be many other, and perhaps better, Indian groceries in the local area. Daily Spices had the items we were looking for our menu. Needless to say, it’s at the top of my list for our Indian food item needs.

Very disappointed today shopping here. damage sweets. Open sweets check before you buy… Bought some sweets went home and opened it for the guest. It was smelling like … I drove back to the store showed the sweets to the counter lady. She said oh it’s smelling. Then I grab other sweet and said can I go?. She said hold on asked for the receipt and asked $ 1 extra … Hey even by seeing that nasty sweet I m willing to take another but not refund she’s asking for dollar. Who’s gonna pay for my time and gas that I wasted coz of their defective sweet… Needs to improve customer service a lot… open the sweets and check it before you buy .don’t get busted front of guest…

It smells good here. There’s a whole aisle of bagged spices(I now know what a betel nut looks like). And another aisle of mixes and spice blends. I bought a bunch of stuff for a very reasonable sum — some of which I’m not quite sure what it is but it looked interesting. Oh yeah, did I say it smells good here? Daily Spices is proof positive that you should should just sometimes let your curiosity carry you away. In the corner of a building that looks more like it belongs in an industrial park, the sign for this little Indian grocery store has always caught my eye when I passed on 29. Today, I just couldn’t drive by again without stopping. Only 4 aisles, but an enormous selection of items. Whether you are«make it yourself» or your culinary know-how stops at the microwave start button, there’s something here for any fan of Indian food. I only wish it wasn’t so hot today as I still had errands to run and would have otherwise scooped up a dozen interesting things from the freezer cases alone. I’ve no idea what I’m going to do with the fresh curry leaves I bought — but I’d never even seen them before and then just seemed to leave the store with me.

These days Daily Spices is my first choice. They do not have the same variety that Patel Brothers or Lotte Plaza has, but their prices are lower than Patel Brothers, and usually similar to Lotte Plaza. The total also seems to come out lower than at Patel Brothers, as other shoppers at Patel might have noticed. Where I never can seem to spend less than $ 80 at Patel, for the same amount of groceries I end up somewhere in the vicinity of $ 40 at Daily Spices. The management has been responsive to any suggestions and returns are done without any complaints. I would recommend anyone living nearby to try this grocery store.
