Dr. David Leonard of Family Practice of Fairfax has been my physician for about 15 years now. He is a wonderful physician; I could not recommend him more highly! I moved to the DC area in 1994 and it took a good deal of trial, error and sleuthing to find a good primary care physician. Oh boy. And patience, as Dr. Leonard is so beloved by his patients, he does not always have availability. He has been the recipient of the Washingtonian Magazines«Best Physicians of the Washington DC Area» for several years. Nowadays, it is really hard to find a physician who can, and will, take time with a patient.(I don’t blame the physicians, its the situation for the rare independent practice). But Dr. Leonard DOES. It is apparent that he loves interacting with his patients, loves medicine, puts the patient first. Another thing: Dr. Leonard has consistently given me great recommendations when I needed to visit a specialist. Dr. Leonard’s office, from an administrative perspective, has had its ups and downs over the years. But the caliber of his care is such that I always waded through. But this is the reality of the private practice business model – ITSSTRESSEDRIGHTNOW. But I have to say that Family Practice is extremely efficient now that it has moved to a blend of concierge with open private practice partners. I could not recommend Dr. Leonard more highly.

I WISH I COULDGIVETHISOFFICENOSTARS!!! I have never been so displeased with a Dr’s office in my entire life. This one takes the cake! Long story short… I initially consulted with this office back in June 07′ regarding their Optifast weight loss program. As a precautionary measure, a prospective participant is required to have a complete health exam. I chose to have mine rendered in the same office. Well my blood test indicated I was severely anemic and not a good candidate. I had several more blood tests rendered as a result. Everything is fine now– I’m popping Iron pills daily. ;-) Here is where the problem lies. This office screwed up the diagnosis and procedure codes when submitting my insurance claims and I have battled with them for the last past several months. My insurance company gave me expressly stated intructions on what to send and where to send it to. In turn, I provided this to the office– OVER A MONTHAGO! I was initially nice about it, as I work in a medical office myself and accidents do occur. This is just plain stupidity. I am still dealing with this office regarding this matter. And to think that this office was highly regarded by The Washingtonian Magazine? It must have been a pretty lax year… Then comes the drama of my refund for the ill-fated weight loss program. ITTOOK2MONTHSANDSEVERALPHONECALLSTOGET!!! This is a small office folks. When I asked the weight loss counselor what was holding the process up– mind you, I am not in dire straits stalking them for a check, this was at least a month after I was told a refund would be processed– she gave me some random analogy about her furniture refund and how it took forever for her to receive it! This office is chalk full of morons– STAYAWAY!
