Would recommend Dr. Fender. He is very thorough and asks a lot of good questions to discover what’s going on. When I was 18, I had high liver enzymes for a unknown reason. At 24 he remembered this and had my levels tested again. He referred me to a specialist for stomach issues that I was impressed with. He can truly cares about his patients, and you would be lucky if you can become his patient.

Dr. Fender has been my doctor since I moved to the area in 2000. I have seen him exactly twice. He took the time to introduce himself to me on my first visit and, due to some scheduling he was the one to see me when I was in there a few years later for pain in my knee. The advice to take aspirin(rather than referring me to a specialist or xraying the joint) gave me the distinct impression that he felt my assessment of my own body was irrelevant to his assessment of my issue. His practice, General Internal Medicine Group(reviewed further here on Unilocal), has a period of time each morning where patients can speak to a doctor via telephone and the one time I talked to him in that context he was as rushed and impersonal as the instances in which I met him in person. I have found no reason to have confidence in his ability to advise me in how to stay healthy nor any thing which would encourage me to see him for minor/preventative work. I saw other members of the staff with mixed results over the years, but now eight years later it is laughable to even say that this is «my doctor» I would not recommend him to anyone I cared about.
