If you come there at noon on a Sunday, do not expect to find sesame bagels, pumpernickel bagels, or plain chips. They only stock up with chips that no one wants to eat and leave the plain chips in the back, only pulling out a handful begrudgingly if people ask. They do not cross out menu items if they run out of supplies, and they always run out of supplies. If you want it, you don’t get it. It used to be so much better back in its heyday, but now it’s staffed by a manager and employees who could care less about customers and are just trying to pay their bills. Einstein Bros Bagels is not bad, just this location. If you want a better Einstein Bros Bagels experience, even the smaller one in Alexandria is far better than this one.

The experience from start to finish was terrible. Trash strewn about outside EVERYWHERE probably bc cussed the trash can was too full. The floors were soaked from the foot traffic and there were no «caution wet floor signs» let alone someone mopping it up. The staff was friendly although one was talking on her cell phone. They didn’t have the heat on in these frigid temps, one customer still had his ear muffs on. Food was fine though could have been hotter. Crumbs on tables and they only opened a few hours ago(it’s 9am). Then when we lifted our paper to throw away, the plastic basket was full of crumbs that weren’t ours. Filthy rags next to condiment counter. I could go on… will not be back. Completely uncalled for!

My goodness this was frustrating. Completely understaffed location. Half the bagels were out and there was a never-ending line on a Thursday afternoon. Einstein bros: you can’t only have two people making drinks, sandwiches, baking new bagels and be cashier around lunchtime.

This place needs a lesson in supply and demand economics. If you can’t keep up with the demand, the public will take their demands elsewhere. At 11:45 on a Sunday morning, the bagel selection was very limited. Why would I go to a bagel specially shop that is out of my favorite on a weekend morning? On all menu items the sales approach seems to be, «while supplies last«at this Fairfax location. My issue is not knowing in advance when the supply will be depleted. In addition to not meeting customers’ demands, the poor communication between the counter staff and the cashier has often resulted in not getting items I had paid for. If you don’t verify your order prior to departure, shame on you. All in all, this place looks to be on the way to going out of business. Maybe bagel shops in NOVA are no longer a viable market. Better head on over to Panera.

First the positive: — Absolutely outstanding, fresh, delicious bagels. I was raised on fresh bagels, and they really nail it here. Plenty of flavors to choose from, and clever toppings to make a great meal. –One of the managers there is really friendly, welcoming, and I always hear him telling people to have a great day. –Piping hot coffee and free re-fills inside of the restaurant. Areas of improvement: –This place needs a deep cleaning. There are so many crumbs and sticky surfaces and crud, it’s sorta yucky. — Customer service is inconsistent. Sometimes friendly, sometimes distracted and unpleasant. –They begin vaccuming and cleaning way too early, like while you’re eating at 2 pm they will vacuum or sweep right next to you, so dust flies while you’re still eating… gross. I’ll be back only the one manager I mentioned brings a lot of personality and he’s welcoming, and because it’s the closest breakfast shop on my route. I really wish they could step their game up in the cleanliness department.

This store is not worth the frustration on a Sunday morning. My second time and it may be the last. Waiting time is horrible and they never get my order right. I feel employees are not as friendly as they should be. While I was waiting it became obvious that this is a management issue. Employees are not trained properly and some look dirty too. One of them kept pulling his pants up and after touching his pants he would touch people’s food. The location is good but not worth it.

I really like some of the staff that works at this einstein, however its always short staffed and the line takes forever and they frequently run out of bagels… Ive had my order incorrect countless times, sometimes it ends up ruining my morning at work. I only have smalls gaps of time to get food and when i get back to work to find out my whole order is messed up its quite the bummer. They need their staff to actually LISTEN to your order. people lose money when they have to throw food away because its not correct. I will still continue to go to this einstein because the food(when its right) is good and the cashiers are always friendly ! JUSTCHECKYOURFOODBEFOREYOULEAVETOMAKESUREITSRIGHT !!

It’s not perfect, but I’ll give it 4 stars. The bagels are good, fresh ingredients but the wait time can be an issue sometimes. If a manager is on top of things then the orders come out ok. If the manager is not there then your order sometimes gets mixed up.

Every time that I come in, I am pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff– even first thing in the morning. My food has always arrived pretty quickly and it’s good. They have lots of options for different tastes, calorie counts on the menu, juices and drinks, and fresh fruit if you want to supplement. The dining area is clean, and a manager circulates to check on guests. I took off one star because, as the other reviews mention, the line does get pretty long if you go during a rush. Also I wish they had tomato bagels!

I haven’t been here in awhile so decided to stop in for a bagel and a shmear around 8:15 am on a Monday morning. The bagel was great. very fresh and tasty. The cream cheese shmear was chintzy but tasty. The thing that will keep me from returning is the very rude cashier. He asked what I ordered and I told him«a bagel and a shmear». He replied, impatiently«What KIND of bagel?» I answered, he told me how much, I handed him the money and he SNATCHED it out of my hand and dumped the change in my hand. Whoa. I couldn’t believe it. I really believe in good customer service and this guy was a big turn off to start my day.

Actually was headed to Mickey D’s but craved a bagel. Pulled into Einstein Bros(fairfax, main st) for a fix and was impressed. This staff is really pleasant and fast. This is my 2nd time ever to an Einstein Bros and first tine to this one. Writing this review while in the shop so i wouldn’t forget to tell them to keep up the great work. Steffanie(sp?) is working the order counter and David is working the register. Steffanie(sorry if I’m wrecking your name) has such a pleasant smile to every customer and David is incredibly nice, wishing everyone a good day and telling me he likes my hairdo. After a stressful week of wedding planning and work, what a pleasant surprise. Somebody give these two a raise, give em $ 15. At least they deserve it! Keep up the smiles!

I have been coming to this place for almost 2 weeks, and i was almost dissapointed with this guy, Mel who is at the cashier with a snotty attitude until i saw David who has a very good personality. Would be nice to see him everyday!

Bagels are good, bagel sandwiches are good. Lines are long, always at meal times, need a better more faster way to serve those who are coming in to get the line reduced quicker. i like their food and drink selection and tend to swing by often especially weekends.

I had recently been lusting after a good lox bagel and just happened to be passing by and figured I’d venture in and see if they could appease me, and appease me they did! They were generous with the salmon and made recommendations about possible tasty bagel options to compliment my toppings. It’s worth noting that if you plan on visiting regularly, it would be to your advantage to sign up for their offers as I was able to score a free bagel on this trip.

I often stop here on mornings when I pass by. I like their hazelnut flavored coffee and their fresh bagels. The have a good selection of freshly baked bagels. In the morning, I like their blueberry or cinnamon raison bagels toasted with flavored cream cheese. At lunch time I will get a sandwich with either the jalepeno or garlic bagels. The service is friendly and efficient.

Efficiency is definitely not there forte… Why cause no matter what time of day you go… It’s really slow. biggest thing is if your going to have 1 ordering station and a huge line of people your person behind the register better be fast. not trying to Figure out buttons. Prehaps it’s because they are understaffed and poorly trained cause there always seems to be that one slow staff member that then causes a delay int he line trying to figure out how to complete the order. By the time you have paid and the cashier has figured out your order. Your still waiting a good 10 – 15 mins for your food. I mean no one said Einstein was suppose to a fast food joint but I also don’t want to wait 15 mins for my breakfast sandwich or for you to pull a dozen bagels that are already prepared into a bag. It’s crazy. Overall… Service here is horrible. food quality medicore. if your trying till get lunch or breakfast fast forget it better hack on an extra 10 mins to your routine your not getting out fast.

In the past few months this place has improved drastically. I have noticed the wait time for food has definitely gotten shorter and the employees are much friendlier! I love bringing my family here. The service is wonderful and the coffee is great! It’s a really nice place for a laid-back breakfast, and our go to spot for an easy place to bring the kids.

Not a happy camper. I’d been long craving some bagels, and since this bagelerie(pardon the nomenclature) is closeby, Hubby and I went on a Saturday afternoon to try out their bagels. We arrived at 2PM to a pretty empty bagelerie. The person working there informed us that since it was St. Patrick’s Day(it wasn’t, it was 3 days prior) that all the bagels had been sold. I didn’t really see the connection personally, but they did still have 3 green bagels in stock. Alas, my top 3 choices were out, so I went with an egg sandwich on their skinny everything bagel. Hubby ordered an actual sandwich(not sure why, we were at a bagelerie). We waited for a few minutes and were provided our orders. I was extremely disappointed with my bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel. The bagel was too salty to eat, the egg was too saltless to eat, and the bacon was just sad. Hubby’s sandwich was mediocre at best. Overall, we did not have a good experience at Einsteins and will be probably looking for another bagelerie around us.
