I recently purchased 3 awesome antique lamps and wanted brand new shades for them. Living nearby, I figured Lamp Factory Outlet was a good place to try, and I was right. Their selection of shades is great — I found one I liked for my smaller lamp right away. It was right around then that I got annoyed, because the staff felt the need to incessantly comment on the choices I was making, telling me that the shade shape I had picked out for the other pair of lamps was wrong, and that I needed a different size harp than the one it came with, because the«correct» way is to have a shade cover the neck of the lamp. «You shouldn’t have any neck showing.» To be 100% honest, I don’t give a crap what is «correct» — I am more interested in showcasing the cool old converted oil lamps I found, than the $ 40 shades I put on them. Maybe I WANT the neck to show? I get that they have expertise that they wanted to share with me, but at the end of the day, I’m the customer, and the customer is always right. That is a foreign concept at this store apparently. They didn’t have the people skills to realize when to stop offering«advice» in order to make the sale. I’ve never experienced that before — usually, salespeople speak their piece and then when they realize you’re going to do your own thing, they back off. Not so with the staff at Lamp Factory Outlet. At least, not without some jibber jabber about what is «correct» mixed in. At the end of the day, I’m happy with my purchase, because I am the one who will be living with these lamps in my house, not them. I will have to see what my mood is like, if I’m in the mood for some smartass comments that day, before going back.

I’ve purchased several lamps here over the years and have always had prompt, pleasant service. They have an interesting assortment of lamps from modern to traditional, including desk lamps, porch lights and wall lighting. I’ve also been able to order hard-to-find light bulbs through this store. Their prices are good, too.

I have visited this small lamp shop several times over the past few years and have always come away with something unique that I have loved. Although the store is small, the selection of items is varied and high quality. Not only do they sell lamps and accessories, they carry mirrors, metal wall art and perform repairs. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. If an item was out of stock, I have always been able to purchase the floor model with a discount. Prices are high if you compare to buying lighting in a big box store like Lowes, but the quality of the items at Lamp Factory Outlet are worth the extra expense.

I went to this store based on the other review I read about it. This was my first visit, and I decided before I went that I was going to buy a nice desk lamp for my nephew starting boarding school… budget was $ 150. I saw 4 employees standing around talking to each other… not one of them greeted me. The female employee had her arms crossed and was leaning against the wall. I thought she was a customer waiting for a friend. I finally approached the group and asked about desk lamps… and felt as if I was interrupting them. After a brief discussion, the salesman pointed in the direction of the desk lamps, and went back to talking to his colleagues. I had a few more questions, but no longer felt like I needed to put in all the effort. The LED lamp @ $ 129.00 I was interested in was«sold out» and I was never told if more were coming in soon or if I could order one. The customer service at this store was non-existent. I prefer to spend my money with independent smaller stores that are not chains, but these employees could care less. I was the only customer in the store at the time… and now I know why. The ironic thing is that I walked over to the Hallmark store afterward, and was greeted immediately with a smile, and asked if they could help me. How refreshing.

I absolutely love this place. I went there for the first time yesterday and had an outstanding experience. The customer service was excellent(thanks Ryan!) and their selection was great too. I went in with two old lamps in need of new shades. I walked out with two linen shades, a shorter harp, and two finials, all for around $ 40! I would highly recommend this store to anyone in need of lamp accessories or parts.
