Everyone is right in saying the eyelash woman is pushy and attempts to force you into getting full lashes rather than the flirty ends. She’ll try her darn hardest, even adding in mink lashes. Your eyes will burn during the process from the glue and she doesn’t give you guidance on how to care for them. She claims she’s been in the business for 6 years but it’s obvious that something is seriously wrong here.
Also, DO NOT GET WAXING HERE. It was the most painful experience I’ve had in my life. They pull in all sorts of directions and at one point the strip got stuck on me mid-​pull. Just… NO.

The lady is very professional and sweet, she took her time and was in no rush which is something I appreciate specially when you are paying. I will definitely come back and highly recommend it. It Is and small place but great service don’t get fooled by the bad reviews. At least to me it was good experience and telling my friends about it

Thought I’d give this place a try so purchased a Groupon coupon.
What a mistake.
This was the worst gel nail manicure I have ever had.
Twice I had to tell the girl she was cutting my cuticles too much but this made no difference since her English was so bad. A couple of «ouch’es» finally worked some what!
Their equipment is old and I have never had to «dry» my nails under the light for so long before. I asked her to set a timer on the light and received what I can only call «dirty looks’ from the two girls there.
After the manicure had started I began to look around and realized that this salon
along with all the equipment they use, could use a darn good clean,
I couldn’t wait to get out of there but on arriving home I noted the terrible job they had done. Nails only partially covered and uneven color coverage.
I returned the next morning and the girl had to completely redo the whole manicure.
She then gave me a coupon for a few dollars off my next visit… I guess she thought that my having to waste my time, getting a redo, was no problem…
My advice… with all the nail places around, get your nails done anyplace but here.

Terrible lash experience! When I searched Modern nails and Lashes before making a Unilocal account I only saw one bad review but if you don’t have an account it WON’T show you in detail the rest of the reviews so I thought ok let me try it. My best friend and I went there it seemed sketchy this lady stared at us for about 30 minutes then the lash lady came out. While I was getting my lashes done my best friend got a pedicure which was sub par.
I was nervous I’m a young college student and I do hair and makeup on the side eyelash extensions seemed to be the easiest instead of constantly buying fake lashes, I got the mink lashes as she was applying them they were burning I thought it’s probably because I had to take my makeup off. When she was done they were still burning and watering but they looked pretty but too heavy and felt like synthetic lashes. During Week One; week my eyes were swollen when I called the first time she said «oh it’s fine you’re new to them», so being naïve I was like alright. Week Two: they became more swollen and my natural lash was falling out with the fake lash I panicked and kept calling and she wanted me to come in I was too scared because at that point I knew something was wrong and didn’t want to go back at all! So I talked to two other eyelash technicians and they recommended I get them removed. Miss Liz the lady who saved what lashes I had left and removed the fake ones, said I was one of the HARDEST cases she’s ever had removing eyelashes, she said that the lady who put them on attached them to my eyelids which is a HUGE NO NO, and that they were applied in clusters which is also bad, and I didn’t realize how damaged my lashes are now until I stood up and started balling.
I barely have that many now, I called Modern nails and lashes balling because I was so angry so she asked me come in, I was upset and crying and demanded my money back she kept saying «she knew what she was doing» and didn’t know what went wrong maybe the fact that she doesn’t know how to apply lashes properly and the glue she uses shouldn’t even be sold, I didn’t even want an explanation I said I do not care I have no lashes. Luckily somehow unlike the rest of these horror stories I got my money back and then left the store. She then got my number and TEXTED me so unprofessional begging for sympathy asking me to not write a review and then apologizing again, an apology isn’t bringing my lashes back or other clients and I thought others needed to know!
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MODERN NAILS AND LASHES In fairfax!!! And I also recommend EyEnvy lash serum for the regrowth of your damaged eyelashes. I wish I would have seen all these bad reviews I would have saved my money and the health of my eyelashes!
