This is a very nice comfortable store with so much too look at! I found purple corduroy which I have been searching for for the past year and a half. There’s also some nice quilting cotton– and beautiful fat quarters! Although not much solid print cotton that I saw but that’s ok too. Definitely found what I was looking for, some brown cotton fabric to finish off a quilt. And some corduroy I had lost hope in finding in a store other that joanns. Ladies were very attentive, although I was the only customer. But they stopped their conversation to assist and were very interested in what project I was shopping for. Thanks ladies!

Very lovely little shop. I’m not from around there, and popped in randomly off the highway to see if they had any charm packs or jelly rolls for quilting. While they didn’t have what I was looking for, the woman behind the counter very kindly offered to cut some fabric to smaller sizes for me, or to piece together some fat quarter packs. They had a cute selection of things — loved the buttons! — and I just really liked the«local» vibe of the place.

This is an eclectic, local, friendly, reasonably-priced craft and art supplies store. The staff there when I visited was extremely helpful without being intrusive. I was particularly intrigued by both the diversity of items and the diversity of the other patrons, who ranged in age from 11 or 12 to middle aged; and included just as many men as women. Fascinating stock with a plethora of vintage items.

I was prepared to like Rainbow Fabrics, because I like to shop locally. However, I felt somewhat unwelcome in the store. I asked the saleslady a question, and she replied in a monosyllable, and seemed distant. There isn’t a very wide selection of fabrics in the store, and I would much rather go to Quilted Angel in Petaluma to buy 100% cotton fabric. Although it is nice to have a fabric shop in Fairfax, I wish they were more welcoming.

Very cute local store. But it’s important to note that it is indeed a local store, so some of the comments below about the selection are misleading. This is a small store that’s great for generating ideas, but, if you’re looking for something specific, this might not be the place…

A great shop with an amazing selection of yarns, fabrics, trims, buttons and so much more. It can be a little overwhelming in there so it’s good to know what you want before you go in. :) They also carry needle felting and Waldorf Doll making supplies which can be very hard to find. They also carry wool felt in a large variety of colours. Love this little jewel of a shop!

Oh oh ooohhh… I am INLOVE with this little store. I found beautiful Quarter sized fabrics just big enough for the bags and wallets I make and I bought them for a decent price. If you want cute unique fabrics, I’d recommend visiting Rainbow Fabrics. They are a bit more expensive then Joann’s because they are independently owned, but you can’t beat the finds! I will be back Rainbow Fabrics! You can count on that :)

Are you a crafter, sewer or just like to see all the possibilities? Then you have to go to Rainbow Fabrics! I couldn’t believe the selection. Get out your coin purse — you’ll find something to buy, Rainbow is the crafters 5 and dime. You don’t have to leave town to get the one thing you need — just go to Rainbow. This store has a little of everything. There is a great selection of batik and vintage fabrics, yarn, buttons and beads. It’s a homage to crafters everywhere
